Chapter 30: Lynn, Deeply Coveted by the Vampires
After finishing off the vampire with one blow, Lynn immediately swung his sword to the left.
The vampires, knowing it was a silver blade, all used their speed to dodge the sword's attacks.
At the same time, they attacked Lynn from every direction.
With the boost from his Super-Sense, although the vampires were fast...
...Lynn always managed to dodge their attacks at the last possible second.
Meanwhile.
Natasha and Steve were also continuously firing their pistols at the vampires.
But the vampires easily dodged the bullets.
After a forward roll to avoid a vampire's lethal claws, Natasha casually threw out two electrode discs.
Zzzt...
A pale blue electric current filled the hall. The next second, the vampire froze, stunned by the shock.
Natasha seized the moment and fired.
The silver bullet pierced the vampire's body, and in the blink of an eye, it disintegrated into ash with a scream.
Steve, on the other hand, wasn't doing so well.
Although his shield blocked their attacks, the vampires were just too fast.
Every time Steve tried to counter, the vampires would use their speed to strike back first.
Narrowly avoiding a vampire's fangs, Natasha quickly moved to Steve, going back-to-back.
"Steve, these vampires are too fast. Our bullets can't hit them!"
Hearing her, Steve raised his shield, blocking a vampire's claw as it aimed for his heart.
He fired, aiming for its head, but the vampire blurred and dodged.
"How come I never knew vampires were this fast?"
With a flick of her wrist, two Widow's Bites flew out and were caught by a vampire.
Watching the vampire grin menacingly at her, Natasha pressed a button in her palm.
The next second, the custom Widow's Bites exploded, blowing the vampire's right hand apart.
Bang!
She finished it with a headshot, then frowned. "The power level of these vampires is clearly way higher than the group SHIELD kicked out."
"If that last group was this fast, SHIELD wouldn't have been able to wipe out half of them."
As she said this, she glanced over at Lynn.
He was surrounded by a swarm of vampires, and while it looked dangerous, he was effortlessly dodging every single lethal attack.
His silver longsword was a blur, and any vampire it grazed shrieked in agony.
"Lynn, plan B!"
Natasha was kicked away. She sensed a vampire lunging for her neck.
She snapped her right hand up, blocking its fangs with her silver-laced knuckles.
The vampire's fangs stopped just centimeters from her skin before it recoiled.
Rage flashed in its crimson eyes.
Hearing Natasha call for plan B...
Lynn did a 360 side flip, dodging another attack.
The moment he landed, two vials of blue potion appeared in his hand, and he smashed them on the floor.
Natasha and Steve, already prepared, immediately swallowed the red pills that rolled out of their sleeves.
As the blue potion hit the floor, smoke billowed out. The vampires inhaled it, and their phantom-like speed instantly slowed to that of a normal human.
"It really works!"
Seeing the slowing potion take effect, Natasha did a kip-up, springing to her feet.
She aimed her twin pistols at the vampires. "Hey, vamp boys. The tables have turned."
Bang!
Bang! Bang!
Gunshots echoed through the castle. The slowed vampires couldn't dodge the bullets at all.
Every silver bullet that flew easily pierced a vampire's body, turning them to ash.
In an instant, the dozens of vampires were reduced to less than ten.
"What is this? Damn you, Death Sorcerer! What did you do to us?"
One of the vampires, feeling its slowed body, glared at Lynn.
"Well, you called me a Death Sorcerer. I had to live up to the name."
With that, Lynn swung his silver sword and cleanly beheaded the vampire.
He watched it turn to dust in front of him.
Lynn's gaze then shifted to Count Korthess, who was still sitting at the head of the table, staring at him with crimson eyes.
Despite seeing his kin slaughtered by Natasha, Steve, and the very sorcerer he sought...
...Count Korthess didn't seem to care.
Instead, he tilted his head back and roared.
The remaining vampires dissolved into black mist, transforming into bats and flapping toward the door.
"Trying to run? Too late!"
The moment the bats reached the entrance, Natasha hit a detonator.
The silver stun grenades exploded.
The silver shrapnel tore through the bats' bodies and wings, and they disintegrated with high-pitched screams.
With the vampires finished, Natasha and Steve walked over to Lynn.
They saw Korthess was still sitting calmly, his expression unchanged.
But the way he looked at Lynn was filled with desire.
Steve stepped forward, shield ready. "Korthess! When you were murdering all those innocent girls, I bet you never thought this day would come."
Natasha, however, looked confused. "I remember the last time SHIELD fought vampires. The lead Count was devastated when just a few of them died."
"Now, dozens of your underlings—your 'children'—have been killed, and you're not angry at all?"
"That doesn't seem very vampiric."
Korthess set down his glass and slowly stood up. "Ms. Romanoff, you don't understand."
"Compared to these children returning to the ancestor, I am far more interested in the Death Sorcerer among you."
"As long as I can have him, what does it matter if all the other vampires in the world are destroyed?"
Seeing he wasn't lying, Natasha fished for more. "You really are a worthy heir to Dracula."
"But I'm curious... why do you want a Death Sorcerer so badly?"
"Can he help you rule the world?"
"Rule the world?"
Korthess looked at her with disgust. "That is a foolish idea, fit only for food. With his help, we can transform the entire world into a vampire kingdom!"
