Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Lynn: Just Attack! What’s With All the Talk?

Chapter 29: Lynn: Just Attack! What's With All the Talk?

After hacking the surveillance, Natasha gestured to Lynn and Steve.

Then she quietly pried open the window with a dagger and slipped into the living room.

Lynn and Steve followed close behind.

Once inside, Lynn gestured for them to follow and quickly led them toward the secret room.

As they rounded a corner, they saw the "owner" of the estate, the old butler, walking towards them.

Lynn moved instantly. Before the butler could even make a sound, he knocked him out with a single hand chop.

He casually opened a door, dragged the butler inside, and then led Natasha and Steve to the secret room.

Following what he'd seen while controlling the spirit, he went to the keypad and entered the code.

As the floor split open, the elevator slowly ascended.

Natasha looked at Lynn in surprise, then teased, "You knew about the secret room, and even the code. Lynn, you investigated a little too thoroughly, didn't you?"

Lynn caught the implication in her tone but ignored it. "If I couldn't even do that, how could I decide to raid a vampire nest alone?"

They jumped onto the elevator. The three of them rode it down to the underground fortress tunnel.

Lynn hung the pre-prepared UV lamps every two meters. He wasn't planning on letting a single vampire escape today.

When they reached the entrance of the underground fortress, Steve, gripping his shield, said in astonishment, "I can't believe those vampires built such a luxurious castle underground."

"It looks like they've been entrenched in New York for more than just a little while!"

As he spoke, a young girl's spirit drifted towards them.

Seeing Lynn, the spirit instinctively began to approach him.

Phantasm activated. Lynn heard the girl's mournful, resentful sobs.

Her eyes, streaming with bloody tears, seemed to silently accuse her tormentors.

Natasha pulled out a silver stun grenade, ready to give the vampires in the castle a little surprise.

But Lynn suddenly stepped out from their hidden corner. "Natasha, Steve, stop hiding. The vampires know we're here."

The young girl's spirit had told Lynn that the vampires had smelled them the moment they stepped into the tunnel.

Hearing this, Natasha held the silver stun grenade in one hand and prepared her pistol in the other. "In that case, let's just get straight to it and bust in!"

With that, they followed Lynn directly into the castle.

At the castle entrance, the heavy doors slowly opened on their own.

Accompanied by a grating, grinding sound, dozens of vampires were sitting around a round table in the castle hall.

Each vampire held a glass of fresh blood, watching Lynn and his companions with interest.

And in the center of the table, a young girl's corpse—her neck bearing two bloodied holes, her skin pale, her face frozen in terror and agony—was laid out before them.

Seeing this, Natasha and Steve's eyes filled with fury.

The spirits of the young girls, still surrounding the vampires, drifted instinctively towards Lynn.

These spirits were filled with a purple-level obsession. Bloody tears streamed from their eyes, silently pleading for Lynn to avenge them.

'Tsk. As expected, all of them have purple-level obsessions.'

'If their obsession was even stronger, they might develop true sentience and even take on physical forms to harm people.'

'Of course, that's just a guess. I haven't seen any spirits above purple-level yet.'

Sitting at the head of the vampires' round table, Count Korthess gently set down his wine glass and smiled. "Welcome to Castle Korthess, Captain Steve Rogers, Ms. Natasha Romanoff."

"And you, Mr. Death Sorcerer!"

The moment Count Korthess finished speaking, dozens of vampires all looked at Lynn with fervent eyes.

Just this morning, they had been filled with regret, believing the Death Sorcerer was merely a myth.

The Blood-Gem had failed to attract him, and they thought they would never have the chance to live freely in the sunlight.

But to their surprise, the handsome young man standing between the Avengers was the Death Sorcerer they had long awaited!

"Death Sorcerer?"

Hearing Count Korthess's address, Natasha and Steve both looked at Lynn. "I thought you said you were just an ordinary apothecary."

After Natasha spoke, Steve said to Lynn, "Death Sorcerer... that's a cool name. I bet if Tony knew you were a Death Sorcerer, he'd hound you to demonstrate your powers. He'd probably even want you to add some flashy new abilities to his suits!"

Steve finished, then took a step forward, pistol in one hand, shield in the other. "Vampires, you have terrorized and harmed innocent civilians in New York. Today, you will pay the price!"

"Price?"

Facing Steve, Korthess slowly rose, a hint of arrogant superiority in his eyes. "Captain Rogers, honestly, I respect everything you've done."

"But unfortunately, I cannot agree with your words. Perhaps in your eyes, these lovely girls are your kin."

"But in the eyes of us blood-kin, they are merely delicious food!"

"Just as you treat animals as food!"

At this, Korthess spread his arms wide. "So, Captain Rogers, we blood-kin are no different from you!"

Seeing Steve about to say something more, Lynn immediately disengaged the safety on a silver bomb and tossed it toward the dozens of vampires.

He also drew the silver longsword from his back. "What's there to say to these vampires? Just kill them. 'Justice declarations'? They don't deserve to hear it!"

Seeing Lynn make the first move, Natasha and Steve instantly drew their pistols and fired at the vampires.

As the silver bomb flew toward them...

The vampires, who had been sitting around the table, moved in a flash.

Their speed was incredible. To Lynn and his companions, they were just blurs.

Lynn sensed a vampire reaching for his heart.

He instantly summoned a bone shield, blocking the attack, then swung his sword backward.

Crack!

As the bone shield cracked, Lynn's sword sliced off a vampire's arm.

The moment it touched the silver blade, a sizzling white mist rose. The unlucky vampire, a blur just moments ago, was now missing a limb.

He clutched his severed arm, howling in agony, but the silver's touch was rapidly eating away at his body.

In just a few seconds, the vampire's body began to disintegrate into dust!
