Chapter 46 - Chapter 45: Absorbing JFL

~~~~~~Narita~~~~~~
"So they stop all of the communications and then all of a sudden they want to arrange a meet up? I don't buy this!" a bit round man with a sharp moustache declared after hearing the message.
"Enough Kasekabe." An aged man replied.
The leaders of JFL have gathered to discuss their dire situation after finally hearing from Kyoto Six Houses.
"We don't have options. First, those machines and then Kyoto goes silent. On top of that, we are running low on resources." The highest-ranking officer continued after silencing the unruly Lieutenant.
"What do you think, Tohdoh?" The man asked the silent man sitting at the back. He was holding his Katana on his lap.
"Like you said, sir, we don't have options. If we try anything, those things can return, and if we stay like this, we will waste away." The man replied to his officer.
"Hmm…"
Sure enough, the meeting was arranged by the leader of JFL and the Kyoto Six Houses.
~~~

"This didn't take long," Marcus replied as he coached Kaguya on cooking.

He just heard the news. JFL is ready to talk.

"Do remember that I haven't said a thing about you," Taizo said as he looked at the prince cooking. It was a bit…

Strange to say the least. The Inventor Prince was good with their traditional food. Which is strange to him…

"Otherwise, they would have never agreed to see you." The bald men clarified.

"Indeed. It's good enough. You have my thanks, Kirihara-san." Marcus thanked him as he returned to coaching the Heiress, whose whole focus was on the pot before her.

Meanwhile, Kallen was the most confused of them all. She never imagined him to be this good in the kitchen AND know Japanese dishes!

It was a very pleasant surprise for her!

"They will be here in several hours."

For a second, the Prince stopped and looked at the old man.

"Several hours? You made it for today?"

"...Yes. It was their choice. Not to mention it's a good time to settle this, right? Your sister is preparing to attack."

"True. Very well then." He nodded before returning to his cooking. He took a small cup and tried out the sauce.

"Hmm, not bad."

"Let me try it!" Kaguya scrambled to his side.

 "Me too!" Kallen followed after the black haired girl; the smell was making their stomachs rumble.

Marcus rolled his eyes at their excitement.

The bald man shook his head. This was supposed to be important, yet…this is happening.

After watching this, he wonders if they have idea what is happening.

Or they just don't care, or maybe he cares too much?

Several hours later, after teaching Kaguya cooking and eating their fill, Marcus waited for the men of JFL to arrive.

~~~
Inside a black car with dark-tinted windows, the men gawked at two kneeling machines.
'These are!'
A multitude of emotions washed over the freedom fighters; they wondered what this meant! Why were the machines that laid waste to freedom fighters here?
As the car arrived, the doors opened.
"Please follow me." A black-suited butler motioned for the uniformed men to exit the car and follow him.
The officers of JFL got out one after another. There were four of them. The top-ranked men were here.
It shows how much they trust Kyoto Six Houses.
"I do hope we are here to discuss alliances." One of them commented.
"Doubtful," Tohdoh replied as his instincts were telling him something else. Those machines are insanely strong…
An alliance is something machines like this don't need…
"Gentlemen. It's good to see you." Taizo Kirihara and another Kyoto head greeted the men at the manor entrance.
"It has been a while, Kirihara-san." The leading old man walked over and shook the bald man's hand.
"Likewise, Major General Katase. I have a very important guest who wishes to see you and discuss important things." The bald man slightly turned to the side and looked at the two machines kneeling.
He gave them an idea of what it was.
"I see. Well, we shouldn't keep him waiting." The Major General nodded as the group followed the bald man inside the house.
What they found was Kaguya Sumeragi fawning over a teenager.
It was at that moment that Tohdoh made a connection in his mind. He put a name to a face.
"Prince Lelouch Vi Britannia, I wasn't expecting you to be the CEO of Anaheim, and the pilot of one of those machines."
"Britannian Prince!?" The sharp moustache guy snapped in shock as his hand went for his katana.
Tohdoh swiftly blocked him.
"He is not the enemy." The man sharply declared.
"...Tohdoh…" The Major General looked surprised.
"It has been a while, Tohdoh-sensei."
The no-nonsense man slowly nodded. He quickly noticed that the Prince had his sword with him as well.
It made Tohdoh smile a bit. It would seem the boy he trained kept those lessons to heart.
"I already had the idea that it was you who was running Anaheim. You kept Japanese people alive with your company."
"Well, I kept it flexible." Marcus smiled a bit.
"Regardless, people didn't starve, and it allowed us to keep resisting the Empire." Marcus' teacher slowly nodded before he looked at his General.
"The reason I am here is because my sister is going to be on the move."
"Princess Cornelia? The new Viceroy?" The General looked nervous.
"Indeed. While I was able to persuade her to join me, she needs to keep her face of a loyal Britannian Princess."
"You mean to say she is part of some sort of rebellion you are planning?" Major General Katase realised.
"In a way. You have seen my machines?" Marcus asked instead of replying
"You mean…"
"Designed and created by me." The Prince smiled while saying that.
"You created them?"
"Indeed. My sister will be getting one soon as well." He dropped the news before focusing on the matter at hand.
"You see, my machines are not built to fight Knightmares specifically…" 'More like kill them,' He thought that part to himself. "They have been created with interstellar travel in mind."
To immediately prove it, he pulled out an envelope and opened it, showing pictures to them of space, Earth from a distance and the moon.
"My goal is to put humanity to the next frontier; the conflicts of Earth don't interest me. That is why I will use these machines that can fight armies to end the current status quo swiftly."
"..."
"Once we rebel, my machines will lay waste to Britannia, the E.U. and the Chinese Federation, and whatever other independent countries exist.
With them gone, I will make humanity focus on the next stage, and that is to become a multiplanetary civilisation."
"...As if."
The sharp moustache guy snorted.
"Lieutenant Colonel Josui Kusakabe, why do you think it's a joke?" Marcus asked, not angry or anything like that. One shouldn't be mad when an idiot is being an idiot.
At that moment, one of the machines looked at the idiot through the window.
Whe saw that he paled.
"As you can see, my Tiranis, finds your lack of faith, disturbing.
If you wish to test, I can take you to the moon; it will only take 25 minutes. Faster than my cargo plane." Marcus smirked; his eyes were gleaming with a bit of sadism.
"That won't be necessary." The Major General took a step forward and motioned for Kusakabe to stop.
"The question is, what will happen to Japan? We, JFL, fight for Japan's freedom.
That's our only goal." The Major General Katase asked the Prince.
"My goal is unification of the world, or conquest of the world if you are feeling dramatic. But as I promised, Kyoto Houses and my pilot over there. Once this land is under my control, you will be able to call yourself Japanese if you want to, or practise whatever cultural practices you have.
My issue is that I don't want to turn back and get back to Earth because a small island nation decided to go rogue."
"..."
"..."
"..."
For a moment, no one was talking; that was until Marcus' sensei took a step forward.
"Tohdoh…"
"I trained the prince in the way of bushido. He respected our traditions and culture." The no-nonsense man explained before looking at the Inventor Prince.
"Show me your Katana."
The Prince smiled as he handed over his sword.
The man inspected the craftsmanship. He didn't expect a prince to wield an eastern sword, not after seeing firsthand that Britannians love their western-style double-edged ones.
Once he pulled out and checked the blade.
There was a small reaction in the Sensei's expression.
"...This metal is not regular steel. These ripples…"
"Damascus Steel. I thought a bit of touch from the Middle East would make it perfect." Marcus explained as he made his sword 'multicultural'. The weapon style is Japanese, the metal is Middle Eastern style, and the wielder is a Britannian.
It makes it perfect for him as someone who wants to rule the whole Earth.
"One's weapon can tell a person's character. You kept your blade in pristine condition, extremely sharp…" Tohdoh inspected the weapon before sheathing it and giving it back to the Prince.
"I have seen enough. You have my support."
Major General and the rest of JFL, even the heads of Kyoto Houses, looked surprised!
The first one to swear allegiance was Tohdoh himself!
"I-In that case, you have my support as well." Major General swiftly caved in. After all, Kyoshiro Tohdoh was the only one capable of fighting Britannia in the eyes of the JFL leader.
The only one who struggled with this reality was Lieutenant Kusakabe, who was gnashing his teeth and barely controlling his anger.
'This is not the end!'
"Then let's talk business."
~~~

Marcus began explaining their plan.

He didn't go into full details of what Geass is or any of that. But he did hint that the Emperor is planning something bad. Bad enough that the Witch of Britannia joined him.

Regardless, what he explained in detail is mobilisation and his mass-produced Mobile Suit—the KKS-01 Setanta.

The Inventor Prince wants to take their Narita base and change it into one of the production factories.

The more production sites he has, the better it is for military deployment.

The JFL was more than excited with all the fancy tech they would get to use against the Britannians…

After getting the JFL to join him, now Marcus had several hundred soldiers with great military discipline, a bedrock for a future army.

Once business had concluded, the Prince went back to his work.

But before that.

"Well, did any of these so-called 'freedom fighters' join you?"

The first thing Marcus heard the moment he picked up the phone was his sister's authoritarian voice.

"I am doing great, my dear sister, thanks for asking." For a second, he joked, but then got a bit serious.

"I got JFL. The rest don't mean anything to me. The remnant of real military is head above any of the rest."

"Good. Then I can begin my purge." Cornelia sounded happy to say that.

"A good battle is what I need after hearing what the witch said."

Marcus chuckled, hearing a witch calling another woman a witch. It's a bit hilarious.

He looked at his hologram screen, designing the next model of satellite.

It's a wave-based telescope—something he needs to find out which asteroids to bring back and to mine.

"She did reveal some concerning things." The Inventor Prince replied.

"Don't remind me, I am still feeling sick that I know that I helped him in his goals," Cornelia commented with an annoyed undertone.

But she quickly changed the theme of the conversation.

"I will be going on my purge. I heard from Euphemia that she will be visiting some sort of expo in Lake Kawaguchi.

Keep an eye on her."

Marcus' eyebrow perked up.

'An expo, huh…'

"Don't worry, I might join her; it has been a while since I did anything like that." He commented while checking the data on this expo.

'Hmm…'

"Good. Then take care."

With that said, she ended the call.

The prince smiled a bit. His big sister is having a hard time between her stoic face and caring sister act.

It makes her cute to watch when she is trying to juggle between those two characters…
