Jimmy's POV
Evelin went rigid, her eyes flying wide. "Why are you bringing up Allen?"
"Hasn't he always been important to you?" I watched her carefully. "If he ever asked you to spoil him, would you?"
Evelin sat up straighter, pulling her right leg away from mine.
She met my gaze directly. "No."
"You wouldn't pamper him like that?" I studied her face, half-doubtful, half-searching for the truth behind her words.
"That's right, I wouldn't," Evelin said firmly. "I spoil you because I care about you, because I'm in love with you. But Allen... he's just my friend. If he was ever in danger, I'd help him however I could, but that's where it ends.
We could never have that kind of intimate connection."
From her expression, it seemed she truly couldn't picture herself doting on Allen that way.
"Do you honestly only see him as a friend?" I pressed.
"Well, I suppose I think of him more like a younger brother.
