Emily stiffened, her skin crawling of his touch, no man has made intimate contact with her. "A date?" She managed to ask with a whisper.
A date all of a sudden? What is wrong with this man? She thought to herself. " Okay, but first… Can you let me?"
Alex quickly jumped up, coughing nervously avoiding eye contact. " Date tonight. I will send my assistant to bring some gowns, so you can pick one." He rushed upstairs without glancing at her.
Emily got ready for the dinner and when she saw the off-shoulder purple dress with a touch of sliver and slit at the back, it was love at first sight.
She marched gracefully down the stairs, her hands slightly lifting up the side of the gown.
Alex dressed in a dark blue suit, while he stood at the entrance of the front door. As she drew closer, the corner of his lips curved up then, immediately replaced by a cold expression.
Something about Emily reminds him of her, her confidence and her voice. Alex thought, as he drove to their destination.
"We'll take the menu of the day," Alex said to the waitress with a smile, as he handed the leather bound menu to the waitress. The table filled with silence, Emily gaze engrossed on her phone beneath the table.
A few minutes later, the waitress returned with a tray of dishes.
Emily frowned, something wasn't right.
That smell…. She glanced at Alex, who was staring at her, his eyes urging her to take a bite. "I can't eat seafood. I will just stick to the veggies and the meat."
Alex's eyes darkened and frowned, his hands hovering above the dishes, ready to call the waitress back.
Emily squeezed her face, ready to vomit. She quickly dashed towards the bathroom. Her feet struggled to keep her steady.
A few minutes later, composed but her face still pale. Emily walked back towards the table.
"Abigail?" A voice called out as she walked past another table. Emily's eyes widened, her feet frozen in place.
She turned her head towards the voice. Her expression went blank as she met the stranger's gaze.
"Sorry. Thought you were a friend of mine," the voice chuckled, while waving his hand.
Alex watched from a distance. Her sudden expression gave an alluring presence. He smirked, she never cease to impress him everyday.
The smell of seafood had faded. She reached the table, a secret smirk playing on her lips. The waitress had changed their order to something else.
After dinner they strolled towards their car parked across the street. A black note tucked beneath the windshield wrote, "I am watching you."
Confusion appeared across Alex's face, mirroring Emily's own uneasiness.
Alex jaw tightened, as he snatched the paper, his hands squeezing it flat.
Emily stood frozen, her mind replaying the recent events happening this past few days. Was it truly meant for her?
The drive home was a silent torment for Emily, the weight of threat pressing down on her, sending down shivers in Emily's skin.
Alex watched Emily stepped out of the car, "Are you scared? Do you want me to tighten the security around you? He asked, leaning towards his car.
His expression remained normal, he seemed less concerned about the message.
Emily sttuttered, "Why? I am not scared moreover the message isn't for me." she stuttured, her trembling palm pressed against the back of her neck
Alex smirked, reading her body reaction and asked, "Or should i report to the police?'' his hand below his jaw, stroking it.
NO!'' Emily shouted, her voice loud enough to attract the maid.
"Why?'' Alex's eyes darkened, she is acting like a wanted criminal.
Emily nodded, "Ohh… I mean you're right." her voice trembling, trying her best to stay calm. " I'II call the police in the morning." she uttered, avoiding his gaze.
Hmmm..
Alex closed the space between them, his face an inch from her.
"Or…. Are you hiding anything, you've been acting suspicious lately." He smiled coldly, to ease the awkward moment a little bit.
Alex will find out sooner or later.
