"Open up."
Chaewon said, holding a spoon with soup in her hand.
Fang Raon opened his mouth, and she gently fed him the soup.
She then dipped it into the bowl for another spoonful, brought it close to her mouth, and blew on it before giving it to him.
"What are you planning on doing after eating?"
Chaewon asked.
"…Sleep."
Fang Raon said.
His eyelids had grown quite heavy, and he just wanted to sleep to regain his strength and energy so that he would be ready to return to Black Online tomorrow.
"If you ever need me, just say my name, Chaewon, and I'll be alerted. I won't be around during the night, so someone else will be answering."
Chaewon said and looked at the machine connected to the bed. It was a way to alert the nurses if need be.
Most patients had buttons to press if they needed assistance, but Fang Raon's condition required a more advanced system.
"…Alright. I won't be needing much help, as I will spend most of my time inside the Virtual Reality Pod."
Fang Raon said.
"What are you doing there either way? What games do you play?"
Chaewon asked and kept feeding him.
She didn't think there was much Fang Raon could do because of his condition, but perhaps there was a game she wasn't aware of.
"Just stuff."
Fang Raon said.
'It will probably get boring if he has nothing to do, so he needs to find some way to entertain himself.'
Chaewon thought to herself.
She then finished feeding Fang Raon and looked into his face. His eyes were open, and they looked unfocused.
It didn't seem like he wanted to keep his eyes closed even though it didn't matter because of his condition.
'His eyes are blue. They are pretty. I think his hair needs a little cutting. It has reached the back of his neck already, and he has some beard growing on his chin.'
Chaewon thought to herself.
She believed that Fang Raon hadn't really kept up appearances because he hadn't been able to see how he was looking.
It was obvious that no one had been taking care of him.
'I still can't believe that he has been alone all this time in his condition. I don't know what has happened with his family, but they sure are horrible people.'
Chaewon touched his cheek tenderly, like a loving mother, or a lover tending her injured boyfriend.
"…Miss?"
Fang Raon felt a touch and raised an eyebrow.
"Hehe, my bad. I have just been wondering whether you like a shave, and would you want an haircut?"
She asked with a smile.
"…Yea, sure."
Fang Raon said.
"Alright!"
Chaewon brought the wheelchair and sat him down in front of the mirror. She brought the barber tools and began to work on his hair.
She had been cutting the hair of her younger siblings for years now, so she felt confident in her abilities.
After she finished, she looked at him from the mirror and smiled at her handiwork. The haircut turned out quite good.
It was a short cut that perfectly framed his face and highlighted his features. His ears were now more visible, and the overall look was fresh and modern.
"…"
Fang Raon's eyes couldn't stay open, and he quickly fell asleep in the wheelchair. He snored softly.
It was very quiet.
Chaewon saw that he was sleeping, and she quickly shaved his facial hair and lowered him back to the bed.
She covered him in the blanket, pushed the wheelchair back to the closet, and left the room.
…
At the front desk of the Caretaker Facility, the nurses were laughing and discussing, but then the front door opened.
"Excuse me, I am here to see Fang Raon."
The young woman that had just arrived said.
The nurses looked at her and seemed surprised.
They thought, "Pretty…" when they looked at her beautiful face.
They thought that she could very well be a model or actress. She screamed class and elegance from every pore.
She was wearing a designer overcoat that fit her like a glove and was also carrying a designer handbag that matched perfectly.
Her brunette hair—long, silky, impossibly smooth—fell in a dark, shimmering cascade down her back.
One of the nurses could swear that handbag was worth more than her entire wardrobe.
"Who are you to him?"
In that moment, Chaewon walked over after hearing a familiar name, "Fang Raon," come out of her mouth.
"Hmm?"
The young woman looked at the pretty nurse and said.
"I am his little sister. I'd like to see him immediately."
'Little sister?'
Chaewon looked surprised, then she frowned and said,
"He just went to sleep. You could come back another day, perhaps?"
"…That is fine. I would still like to see him now."
She said.
Chaewon looked at the other nurses, and since the visiting hours were still ongoing, they had no reason to refuse her.
"Follow me."
Chaewon said and took her straight to Fang Raon's room, and they saw a sleeping figure in the bed.
"Brother, it's me, Anna."
Fang Anna sat beside the bed and grabbed her brother's hand, and she looked extremely sad seeing her brother in such a state.
'You don't deserve to have this happen to you.'
She thought.
"I think we should let him rest. It has been a very long and exhausting day for him. Do you have a message for him? I will deliver it to him."
Chaewon said.
"…Just tell him that I came to see him."
Anna said and headed to the door, but before leaving, she sharply looked at Chaewon.
"I want my brother to be taken care of. Understood?"
"Of course."
Chaewon said.
"…Also, if his condition worsens or improves, I'd like to be informed. Don't bother calling our parents. They don't care, but I care."
She said.
Chaewon nodded and watched her leave.
She didn't leave just yet and instead looked at sleeping Fang Raon and felt curiosity bubble within her chest.
'What happened between him and his parents? It looks like his little sister cares about him deeply, so it doesn't seem like he did anything.'
Chaewon was a really curious girl.
