Chapter 42 - One Man Makes an Army — “Wave Knight, Draw Your Sword.”

Dragonspine, Mondstadt.

The Wave Knight Eula Lawrence had originally come because she'd learned that Durin's heart would eventually reawaken in the future.

She came to observe. To prepare.

Then she heard rumors that the Abyss Order planned to march on Mondstadt.

She intended to rush back—

Until Su Xuan casually published the entire attack outcome in his diary like he was commenting on the weather.

So Eula stayed on Dragonspine.

"He really has time to spare… He came all the way from Stormterror's Lair to chase a Ruin Grader?"

She didn't know what he wanted.

"Is he planning to assemble his own Ruin Guard army?"

Eula muttered to herself.

Still—

Watching him move freely, unrestrained, respected even as an outsider…

She felt something twist inside her chest.

The wind god himself—

the Archon of Mondstadt—

had bowed to him with gratitude.

While she?

In Mondstadt, she was a name to be whispered.

A shadow.

A curse by ancestry.

A Lawrence.

So this is the power of someone whom even fate bows to…

She thought bitterly.

As dusk fell, she finally located a Ruin Grader trudging across the ice plains.

Just as she saw it—

Its metal body jerked upward, violently pulled by an invisible force.

Eula's eyes widened.

In the sky stood Su Xuan, wreathed in shimmering energy.

He barely moved.

His hand closed.

The Ruin Grader crumpled—

screeching metal, sparks bursting—

into a mess of twisted scrap.

Crunch.

Eula's heart seized.

Seeing it on the diary projection was one thing.

Seeing it in person—

She understood instantly:

If that force were used on a person…

There would be no bones left to bury.

Her face went pale.

She instinctively stepped back—

Feet slipped—

and she fell flat on the snow.

Too late to leave now.

Su Xuan landed before her.

The cold wind howled between them.

Eula stared anywhere except directly at him.

Silence stretched—

Until her diary surfaced on its own.

[Look what I found on Dragonspine.]

[A wild Wave Knight — Eula Lawrence.]

[Her being here isn't surprising. She likes cold places, especially the frozen lakes — sometimes comes here just to bathe.]

[But the real puzzle is her… current sitting posture.]

[Should I remind her… or let her figure it out herself?]

Every woman reading the diary leaned closer.

What posture?? How bad?? Show picture!!!

Furina was vibrating.

"Where's the follow-up! WHERE IS THE PHOTO. Don't just stop there!"

But the diary moved on.

On Dragonspine, Eula finally realized the problem:

Because she slipped—

her legs were still spread far too much—

directly facing him.

Social. Death.

She shot upright, flushed red, and turned away, mortified.

But Su Xuan wasn't done.

[I understand her now.]

[Raised under harsh noble discipline, expected to restore the Lawrence name.]

[She hates that fate — so her true self only appears where no one can see her.]

[In public: proud, elegant, untouchable.]

[In private snowfall: sitting however she wants, finally allowed to breathe.]

Amber, who had just finished scouting the withdrawn Abyss forces, read this part mid-step—

And stopped cold.

She knew Eula was warm-hearted beneath her sharp tongue.

But she had never realized how much pressure her friend carried.

She suddenly felt she had failed as a friend.

Back on the mountain—

"Y-you… don't just write whatever you want!"

Eula burst out, face burning.

"They will misunderstand—"

Su Xuan did not even pretend to stop.

[Eula's famous line: "I'll remember this vengeance."]

[She says it to scare people who insult her for her family name.]

[It has never worked.]

[Prejudice is a mountain. You don't climb it. You break it.]

[If they insult you, cut off the source. A few missing tongues — and people learn quickly.]

[Speaking of vengeance — she tried to intimidate me just now.]

[So I should retaliate.]

Eula: "???"

Then—

Su Xuan extended his hand.

The snow behind him split open.

And row after row after row of Ruin Graders

materialized from nothing

and stood at attention like a mechanized army.

[One Man Makes an Army.jpg]

[Wave Knight — you will pay for your "vengeance."]

Eula froze.

He knew everything.

He simply wanted to mess with her.

In that moment—

She truly believed:

He is absolutely, unquestionably doing this on PURPOSE.
