Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine : The Ladder to Blood

Chapter Nine: The Ladder to Blood

The moonlight continued to fade in the past as the quiet reminisced that all things will cease to be, but the cycle will never stop.

The sun rose through the heavenly stitching of the skies, and the world embraced the golden palm of the sun.

As the faint light whispered of morning in the Alderwood house, Milana Alderwood rose from her dreams, feeling faint light on her body. She wrapped a shawl around her and then started to prepare the farewell dish for the guests of the Veridian Duchy.

Getting out of the house, she started to pick the ingredients needed, then she looked at the sun and spoke in a displeased tone.

"Why did the days have to go by so quickly when Ellara was around?"

She collected the ingredients and started to cook the meal.

Slowly, one after another, everyone started to wake up.

Ellara After getting ready, she decided to help her aunt in the kitchen.

While the Light was still reaching the realm of dreams in Youngling's dreams, Marcus snapped out of sleep.

He woke up Valen, as they both wanted to play for the last time while they were together.

As they were playing, Flion pressed the door backward to open it.

He looked up to the boys and smiled and said, "Get ready for breakfast, trouble makers."

Marcus and Valen ran up to him and hugged him and spoke in unison.

"Could you please prepare the water for our bath?"

Looking tired, he saw their eyes begging and couldn't resist agreeing.

He said with a sigh.

"Fine, I am going outside to prepare it."

As Flipn went outside, he thought to himself.

"Man, if I didn't have a family to care for, I would have gone to live alone and pursue greatness."

As Flion went outside, Valen looked toward Marcus with a sad face and said, "Flion is really a great big brother, isn't he? I wish I had a big brother like that."

Marcus looked towards him in confusion and said,

"Don't you have 3 to 4 big brothers already?"

Valen replied in disappointment, "Well, I do, but they all hate me." He hesitated. "I am afraid I might have to kill them."

Marcus replied in further confusion. "What does 'kill' mean? It sounds like something bad to me. But don't worry, hero Marcus will save you from doing bad things."

The two laughed and continued to play.

Soon, Flion finished preparing the water.

Marcus and Valen jumped into the large tub of water and started playing.

Flion murmured in an annoyed voice, "Could you two hurry?"

Valen and Marcus both still heard and started pointing at Flion and saying,

"Can't you two children have fun at the moment? They will part ways for I don't know how much time."

Flion replied with.

"I don't think that you two will be separated for long; by the looks of your bond, I think you will be living together under one roof."

Valen and Marcus both laughed and loved the idea.

After some time all of them arrived at the table and started eating.

Valen and Marcus were still messing around, throwing things at each other and laughing, and soon came the time when they parted ways.

The wind was calm but blowing a bit too normally, as if there was something waiting beyond the horizon.

Marcus and Valen looked at each other one last time before Valen and Ellara got on the carriage and left.

The Alderwoods never stopped waving until they were out of sight.

Some time after, they passed quite a distance, and they were in the forests now.

Valen was looking out of the window of the carriage, and he saw some insects eating smaller insects. The smaller insects struggled, but the god did not seem to care, as if he was chained by something in the distance, deer eating grass. It was as if the grass wanted to scream with no mouth to scream.

Suddenly Valen started to talk to Ellara and say.

"Why didn't we use Caelum's door to go back to our castle?"

Ellara replied while looking at the book in her hand.

"Because the duke wanted me and you to experience the view of Mother Nature."

Ellara then suddenly jumped out of the carriage with Valen.

Valen started shouting.

"What happened?"

"Booooom"

A loud blast sent Valen and Ellara flying into the trees, and the apron of the carriage was blown apart.

Author's Apology

"Hey guys, I know it's been weeks or months, like 2, before the last chapter, and I'm sorry I don't have any excuse. I was lazy, and I'm going to change myself now, so chapters will come in 2 to 3 days with consistency."
