Kaan walked to the warehouse with a grin that spoke of four months of successful, exhausting labor. Elfan gave him permission to work freely on the machine, and Kaan had used the time well: he had secretly improved the Condensator design, achieving thirty percent more efficiency. He wrote down all his designs and, though the Ring had no power, translated the entire report to Aethel's local language.
"Finally, I will go home!" he thought. "The last step I need to do is test the dynamo that I found in the warehouse. I assume it's not what I've been looking for, but it's worth a shot."
He walked into the warehouse, excited like a child who had found a lost toy, and carefully cleaned up the old dynamo. He connected the steam engine's arm to the dynamo and fired up the machine.
WRAM! ... WRAM! BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM....
"I never thought I would be so excited to hear a steam engine running," he thought. The dynamo started working immediately.
Thankfully, his dimension-hopping Ring had brought its charging cable along. He carefully stripped down the end of the cable, quickly disconnected the dynamo, grounded the remaining current, and soldered the negative and positive ends of the dynamo's wires to the cable. Then, he reconnected the dynamo.
DING! Charging!
"YES! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT WORKED!" he screamed inside his head.
However, after just two minutes of charging, his excitement died, replaced by a frantic, high-pitched alarm from the Ring.

He quickly grabbed the Ring, nearly tearing the entire cable in his panic. With a small, painful electric shock to his body, he ripped the connection apart. He truly believed he had succeeded, but the unstable power source was too much for the delicate artifact.
"Oh, come on!" Kaan said, disappointment washing over him. "Is it because it's Direct Current? How am I supposed to get Alternating Current in this era? Ah, I guess I have to start experimenting again."
Despite the failure, one good thing happened: because the Ring had charged for two minutes, he could access an interface because a window popped up in front of him.

"Oh, cool. You had a whole interface and now I'm finally seeing this?" Kaan thought. "Also, apparently, because of my actions, Aethel's level has risen from Level -2 to Level -1. And you have a trading section, so I can trade with people from different dimensions? That's going to be useful!"
"For now, I have to make a stable dynamo. I think I can use Faraday's Principle to create a small, hand-cranked one. I saw that on a video, so I think I can make it."
While he was lost in thought, a worker came to him. "Hey, Kaan, the boss wants to see you. He said it's been four months, and he wants to see some improvement."
