Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Goku Battle's Dark God Rishi: Part 2

The wind smelled like blood and burning metal. Claulifa stepped out of the dark underground tunnel first, her boots crunching on broken stone. Kale was right behind her, silent, eyes wide. Both of them stopped at the same time.

Everything was gone.

The proud cities of Planet Sadala were nothing but black scars on the ground. Mountains were on fire, flames climbing so high they touched the dark clouds. Bodies of Saiyan warriors lay everywhere, some still in their armor, some torn apart. Blood ran in small rivers between the rocks. The sky itself looked sick, heavy and purple-black.

And in the middle of all that death stood one man.

He was tall, taller than Jiren, with muscles that looked carved from stone. His hair was blood-red, his eyes glowed the same color, and he wore golden armor that looked ancient and evil at the same time. A dark aura moved around him like living smoke. He levitated in the air, arms crossed, smiling like he was enjoying a good joke.

Claulifa's hands started shaking. Tears came before she could stop them.

"You… you did this?" she whispered, voice cracking.

The monster just smiled wider.

Kale took one step forward, fists so tight her knuckles went white.

Claulifa wiped her eyes hard with the back of her hand. "Kale."

"I'm here, sis," Kale answered, voice low and dangerous.

Claulifa felt the power wake up inside her chest, hot and wild. Her hair started to move on its own. "We end this now."

Both women screamed at the same time. The ground under their feet cracked open. Green lightning exploded around Kale. Golden fire roared around Claulifa. In less than a heartbeat, they shot into the sky like two comets.

Claulifa's hair grew long and wild — Super Saiyan 3. Kale's muscles grew huge and green light poured out of her — Legendary Super Saiyan, fully awakened.

The red-eyed god laughed. "Come, little Saiyans. Entertain me."

He raised one hand. A wall of pure black energy slammed into the two women, throwing them backward through the air like toys.

Then a voice cut through everything, cold and sharp.

"STOP!"

Goku stood between them and the monster. His gi was torn, blood ran from his mouth, but his eyes burned bright. His aura flickered between deep blue and angry red.

Claulifa caught herself in the air. "Goku?!"

"Let us fight him!" Kale shouted, veins standing out all over her body.

Goku didn't even look at them. "If you fight him, you die. Both of you. And then you'll get in my way and I'll die too. I'm not letting that happen."

"But we can help—" Claulifa started.

"There's no time for pride, Claulifa!" Goku's voice cracked like thunder. The ground far below shook harder. "Take Kale, take Piccolo's body, find Cabba, and get off this planet right now. I'll find you later. I promise."

Claulifa opened her mouth again. "But—"

"GO!" Goku roared. Then he turned and became a streak of blue-red light, flying straight at the god of destruction.

BOOM!

The two powers crashed together in the sky. The shockwave knocked Claulifa and Kale backward again. Lightning and fire exploded everywhere.

Claulifa looked down. Piccolo's broken body lay near the tunnel entrance. Cabba was farther away, unconscious but still breathing.

She bit her lip so hard it bled. "Kale… we have to trust him."

Kale's whole body was shaking with rage and tears. "He's going to die…"

"Not if we leave and let him fight," Claulifa said, voice breaking. "Come on!"

She flew down, scooped Piccolo's body gently into her arms, and Kale lifted Cabba onto her back. Together they shot into the sky, away from the battlefield, away from their dying home.

Behind them, the real fight began.

High above the ruins, Goku and the monster named Rishi locked hands. Their auras pushed against each other — one blue and red, one pure black and purple. The ground a thousand feet below cracked like glass.

"Your quite strong Saiyan," Rishi said, voice smooth and poisonous. "Join me. Together we can rule every universe that exists."

Goku's eyes burned with hate. "You murdered my friends. You destroyed their home. You don't get to live."

He suddenly pulled his knee up hard into Rishi's stomach. The god of destruction actually bent forward with a gasp. Goku didn't wait — he smashed his fist into Rishi's face. The punch sent the monster falling like a burning star.

BOOM!

Rishi hit the ground so hard the planet shook. A crater a mile wide opened up. Dust and fire shot into the sky.

Goku didn't give him time to breathe. He brought his hands together, blue energy swirling bright and fierce.

"Ka… me… ha… me… HAAAAA!"

A thick blue-white beam screamed down from his hands, big enough to swallow cities. It hit the crater dead center.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosion after explosion tore the land apart. Shockwaves rolled across the planet, flattening what few trees were still standing. The sea miles away rose up in giant waves.

When the light and smoke cleared a little, Goku dove straight into the crater.

Rishi was already standing, smiling, blood on his teeth.

Their fists met again — BAM! The sound was like two planets hitting each other.

They shot into the sky, trading blows faster than the eye could follow. Every punch, every kick, every block made the air scream. Mountains turned to dust. The ocean split open. The sky itself looked like it was tearing.

Rishi spun in mid-air and brought his heel down toward Goku's head. Goku threw his arm up just in time — the block shook his bones. He answered by driving his fist deep into Rishi's gut. Blood burst from the god's mouth.

But Rishi was fast. He caught Goku's arm before it could pull back and punched Goku in the face so hard blood flew in a red arc.

Both warriors flew backward, breathing hard, staring at each other through the smoke.

Then they screamed and fired ki blasts — huge balls of light that lit up the dark sky. The blasts crashed together, exploded, crashed again. Some missed and carved new canyons into the ground. Some hit the sea and turned water into steam for miles.

Rishi's smile disappeared.

"ENOUGH!"

He vanished.

Goku spun around just in time — Rishi was already behind him.

"Hakai."

The word was quiet, but the power that came with it was not.

A massive wave of purple-black energy, the same energy gods of destruction use to erase entire worlds, swallowed Goku whole. His gi burned away in seconds. His skin burned. His scream echoed across the dying planet, louder than any explosion.

Rishi watched, arms folded. "Begone."

He snapped his fingers.

BOOM!

The purple energy collapsed into a single point and then exploded outward. The blast was so big it could be seen from space — a new sun made of pure destruction. Everything for fifty miles turned to nothing. Not dust, not ash — nothing.

Goku's scream cut off.

The planet shook one last time, like it was crying.

Far away, already outside the atmosphere, Claulifa and Kale flew as fast as they could. Cabba was still unconscious on Kale's back. Piccolo's body rested in Claulifa's arms.

Kale looked back. Tears floated away from her eyes in the vacuum of space.

"Please don't die, Goku…" she whispered.

Claulifa didn't say anything. She just flew faster, eyes red from crying, heart heavy with the weight of a whole world that no longer existed.

Behind them, their home planet burned and broke apart, piece by piece.
