Chapter 7 - Intros are kinda important

"You heard me well alright—"

"Enough!" Kairo's voice cut through the air like a blade though the tension, his eyes already crimson.

The weight in the room suddenly increased again and everyone felt it.

Like their instincts were screaming at them to either run or submit.

"Sh*t, why does my body feel this way. I-it doesn't wanna move!" The spiky haired thought as he tried to fight back but his body trembled like jelly.

Then his eyes looked up to see Riven's.

He had that look in them, the one only the word 'Rage' wouldn't define properly.

The boy smirked. "That look. Oh he's a beast, you can practically see it in them. Too bad though…"

"I'm even worse than that!"

This bastard. I'll freakin' kill him, I'll destroy him. Kill, kill, kill. I'M GONNA KILL YOU!

The pressure in the room had increased even more on the two boys, bringing them to their knees.

"I said. Enough." Kairo said as he had walked closer to them, looming over them, his eyes dead serious. "Or do I need to get physical?"

The two calmed down after a moment and Kairo's eyes turned back to normal.

"Riven. Lucian. I won't tolerate this kind of behavior. Am I clear."

Lucian got up on his feet as he dusted the imaginary dust on his shoulder. "Tch, Whatever…"

He sat back in his seat, putting his feet back on the table and putting his hands behind his head like nothing ever happened.

Kairo's gaze shifted to Riven. "Yeah, yeah, understand." Riven said already predicting what Kairo would say as he took his seat.

Lessons —which were just school rules and orientations, went normally through the afternoon until the closing bell had rung.Everyone was leaving the classroom, but when Riven got up from his seat when Azrael stood u as well and faced him.

"You trying to get kill?" he asked as he narrowed his eyes at the other, looking around to see if anyone was listening.

"I don't follow?" Riven said giving a confused expression.

"Ugh, of all people, you had to try and fight the Lucian freakin' Tempest."

Riven frowned at the name. "What's so important about him anyways,? Looks like a scumbag to me."

"Yeah. Major assh*le for sure, but also one of the kids from the Tempest family."

Riven, not caring about the fact his friend was pointing out, just shrugged. "So?"

"Holy mother of— The Tempests are the most influential and wealthiest family of vampires on Mythic Island. They singlehanded funded thirty-two percent of the place. Not only that, but most of them are politicians outside the human world and don't even get me started on what they have here."

Riven eyes widened a bit, his brain rewiring it attention. "So you're saying that guy is basically a prince?!"

Azrael pointed a finger, "Bingo."

Riven clenched his fist in the air. "That just justifies the fact that he really is a spoilt sh*tty brat! I'll kill that guy, I swear."

"You're not getting the point."

***

The two new friends walked home together by the hallways, just casually chatting as they had gotten to the dormitories off campus.

"So like I've been wondering, if you're a ghost you can phase, right?"

Azrael shook his head. "Nah, unfortunately I can't because that the area of my Deviancy."

"So you're a ghost who can't phase." Riven eyed his friend.

"You make it seem like I'm a criminal."

"Sorry." Riven said turning his head away, realizing how rude he must have sounded.

"Ah. No worries, after all, we're both Deviants so it's not like you're being racist or anything." Azrael said swinging an arm over the other's shoulder.

"Thanks." Riven grinned.

After some time they had prepared to go their separate way but something strange happened.

They followed the exact same route and got to the exact same dorm house — a small simple bungalow with the number 484 engraved on the door. The both of them looked at each other.

"We got the same dorm." They said in unison.

"Sweet, it means we can catch up some more." Riven said practically buzzing.

"Yeah but makes you wonder if anyone from our class also moved here." Azrael said, thinking more logically.

"Don't care as long as it's not that stupid spoilt brat." Riven marched up to the door and swung it open.

Then a pair of red eyes met his.

Riven blinked.

Gently closed the door.

Brought out the phone the school so generously provided him with.

Checked if the door number matched with the one on his phone before opening the door again.

Still meeting the familiar face he didn't want to believe was there.

"What you looking at, you mangy mutt?" Lucian scowled at the other, who was still trying to process what had just happened.

You have got to be F*CKING KIDDING ME!

Azrael stepped in quickly before anything got out of hand.

"Yo! Let's try not to tear ourselves apart, we're roommates, aren't we?"

"Well it's not like we had a choice." A voice said.

Riven turned and saw that it was the boy with glasses from earlier in the class.

"Kairo stated that the council is not only having Deviants in the same class, but also having us live together as well."

"Nope!" Riven said almost shouting. "I refuse to live with this guy!"

"You think if I could leave I wouldn't!?" Lucian said pointing at Riven.

"Whatever." Riven stomped out of the living room and went into the hallway to claim a room.

"H-Hey…HEY! DON'T YOU DARE THINK OF TAKING A ROOM BEFORE ME YOU DAMNED RETARD!" Lucian yelled as he went in after the other.

"This is gonna be some semester…" Azrael groaned internally.

The two left behind looked at themselves.

"Sup, Name's Azrael." The boy chimed. "What's yours?"

"Cyrus. Cyrus Knight."

"Oooh, Sounds like we have a medieval fanatic." Azrael paused looking around "By the way, where are the others?"

Cyrus shrugged. "Beats me. As soon as they choose their room the two went with their cards."

"Probably to do some shopping…you know how it is with girls." Azrael said as he dropped his bag and dropped on the couch. "They could have at least said hi."

"Does that really matter?" Cyrus raised a brow.

"Duh…First impressions are real important in case you didn't know. Like for instance, your impression gave off this cool guy with glasses vibe." Azrael said gunning his fingers at the other.

However, before the other could speak. Both heard a loud slam followed by heavy banging.

"OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW YOU LITTLE SH*T! THIS IS MY ROOM!" Lucian yelled kicking the door wildly.

"LIKE HELL IT IS! YOU DOUCHE!" Riven yelled back using his body to block the door.

"Oi! Are you two trying to get this place destroyed?!" said Azrael, bolting towards the hallway with Cyrus in tow.

____

Walking down the pathway of the courtyard, Riven enjoyed the scenery quite a lot.

His head needed some cooling time to think of what would be the next steps ahead.

My life is far from what it used to be…but, I guess I could at least work with this.

He looked up at the sun as its light cracked in between the leaves of the trees.

Just then he spotted a certain someone, a few meters away coming out of the school garden.

Kairo?!

Riven tilted his head at the other as he watched him go by. Then, the man quickly turned his head as if he had noticed he was being watched.

Oh sh*t he saw me!

Riven attempted to make a U-turn back to his dorm when he heard the other's voice.

"Where the hell do you think you're going? Get your ass over here!"

Riven stopped in his tracks and turned to see that Kairo was already waiting for him, hands in his pockets.

The other grumbled a bit, before walking over to his teacher.

"What brings you out to the courtyard by this time? Most students would rather be resting in their rooms or still in school." asked Kairo as soon as Riven was closer.

"Well I just decided I needed to clear my head, that's all." Riven said trying to play it cool.

"Understandable, you've been through quite a lot." Kairo said giving the other a half smile.

Riven chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah. I can tell this is just the beginning though." He looked up at the sky again. "It's probably gonna get even crazier than this."

Kairo looked at the boy for a moment, for a fraction of a second he thought he saw someone he knew a long time ago.

He gave a tired sigh, taking out a something from his pocket. "Here, Catch."

Riven barely turned when a small object landed on his chest, his hands instinctively catching it. He looked down and saw a small box that looked slightly old.

"What's this?" Riven asked fondling with the box in his hands.

"That…" Kairo said pausing for a while, looking at him to see if he was ready for what he was about to say to the other. "That is the will your mother left behind."
