The three hyenas were drooling as if they hadn't had food for days, and they looked at An Ming as if he was the tastiest meat they ever saw. An Ming pulled out a knife he had stored in his bag and held it on his chest.
The tree was shaking from all the head butts it was receiving from the hyenas. it reached a point that the tree couldn't handle all the beating it was receiving and the branch beneath An Ming started to give out.
An Ming immediately jumped to a branch next to his. But he wasn't planning on staying on that tree, as soon as he was on the other branch he reached for another that branched out of an adjacent tree. As soon as he was on the other tree, he threw himself to the ground and ran as fast as he could. But right after he ran the hyenas ran after him with their tongues hanging out from their mouth.
An Ming threw away his bag in order to reduce his weight so that he could ran faster. The only thing he remained with was the knife, and he knew that it was the only thing that was a barrier between life and death. He kept dodging trees as he ran, but his right foot was caught in a tree root and he stumbled down and fell.
Upon seeing this the hyenas ran even more faster and wilder. An Ming was crestfallen, he then decided to hold out the knife using his 2 hands and close his eyes. The first hyena to reach him was so excited that he didn't pay attention to the knife and lunged himself towards An Ming. The only thing that An Ming felt was the knife piercing flesh and warm liquid flowing down his hands.
Upon opening his eyes, he saw the hyena was impaled by the knife and was bleeding with its eyes filled shock, grievance and very much dead. His heart was filled joy, but the same thing couldn't be said for the 2 remaining hyenas. The 2 hyenas stopped on their track; their eyes locked on the scene Infront of them. Although the 3 were animals they still held a bond born from long period of time together and refined from tribulations they faced in their lives.
Seeing their fallen comrade ignited a fiery fury within them. They both charged towards An Ming. An Ming was shaken but when he remembered he had killed a hyena already he was highly motivated. He tore a piece of his cloth and tied his knife to his right hand. He then firmly placed his legs on the ground and widened them for balance, then readied himself for impact.
He knew that these two were not going to be easy after witnessing what had happened to their companion earlier. So, he should be ready for the worst-case scenario. The two hyenas surrounded him: growling, making his hair stand. The larger one which was at his back was the first to act and swiped its claw at him. An Ming jumped to the side resulting in the claw tearing a piece of cloth and leaving a claw mark on his chest.
Right after he jumped to the side the smaller hyena thrusted its jaw towards his leg wanting to bite his leg off. An Ming's Heart shook, he knew if any damage came to any of his legs he would not be able to maneuver or run, thus he chose to sacrifice his left hand which was of no use to him at this moment.
As the hyena's mouth was 3 inches from reaching his leg, he placed his left hand in place of it. The hyena losing its prime target still bitt his left hand, and as soon as it bit his hand, An Ming thrusted his knife at the hyena's throat and then plunged it deeper to make sure it was dead or at the least severely injured.
