Rin and Bokie found a place to sleep. It was not a house or a hotel , it was just a an abandoned alley. They curled in the corner to keep them warm. Night went by fast and dawn crept in before they could realize it. Rin was the first to wake up. She shook Bokie ,'Wake up sleepy head' He jolted out of the sleep. They had to get out of that alley and mingle with the folks before the guards patrolling the place caught them. 'So, what is the plan?' , Rin questioned. 'We look for a job' , Bokie said casually. 'A job!' , Rin said in disbelief. What do we need a job for , she wondered. 'Sigh , I honestly don't know why in this vast world I end up with a dummy. We need a job to survive. Food and a place to sleep' , Bokie said in frustration. 'You are calling me a dummy. Huh, I think you are the one. In this city, who is going to employ a 13 year old girl in battered clothes and a stray dog' , Rin scoffed. 'Stray dog' , Bokie was totally losing it. 'She called me a stray dog' , he mumbled to himself. Rin giggled at his facial expression. Bokie side eyed her and snapped , ' I am not a stray dog you dummy. I am a top tier magical beast. A Divine Ice Beast ' , Bokie said in a heroic tone . That made Rin burst into laughter. Upon seeing Bokie's reaction turning sour , she stopped and said ,' Fine , let us try and look for a job'. With that they started their journey to finding employment.
It had been three solid days and they had not gotten a job. They knew that they would not get it eventually. Everyone on the streets looked like they were from rich families. Rin and Bokie were becoming frustrated. They had to eat left overs from restaurants and they needed money real quick. 'Since we are not getting a job , I have an idea that would work like magic' , Bokie said smiling . Seeing that mischievous smile on Bokie's face made Rin feel uneasy. 'What is it?' , Rin asked curiously. 'Come closer , I will say it in your ears' , Bokie gestured. When Bokie finished saying what was on his mind, she raised her brow in shock. 'Are you crazy? Thi ..This is completely immoral. I mean, we can not turn into thieves' , Rin yelled at him. ' Huhj , yeah stick to your morals and you are going to be hungry and poor forever' , Bokie scoffed. Rin sighed and said , 'Fine , let's do it. Nothing ventured , nothing gained' . Bokie just rolled his eyes at what Rin said.
The world bathed in the honey light produced by the sun as one could see a 13 year old girl and a magical beast carefully stealing from the folks . It has been 2 months after they agreed to go on a stealing spree because they did no find a job to do . They have become experts in stealing in just two months. They finally found a place to sleep. It was an abandoned tree house and that was were they kept their stolen treasures.
'Hey , today let's have a competition . Whoever steals more things would not do house chores for a week' , Rin offered. Bokie looked at her smugly then grinned. 'Deal' , he said with determination. . They both went on their separate ways. Rin moved with calculated grace, her eyes scanning for the small lapse, striking with precision as vanity distracted a noble . Among the wealthy, she drifted like breeze - cool , invisible , stealing heirlooms that have lived in vaults older than the owner's marriage. Rin was admiring a jade pendant she stole. 'So pretty and shining' ,she thought. She looked around for her next target like a predator looking for a prey. She saw a middle aged woman obviously richly dressed. 'Gotcha' , she breathed out. Rin made her way towards the woman with the intention of bumping into her. She bumped into the rich woman so gently that it felt accidental. But the contact gave her just enough time to slip the velvet pouch full of gems from her outer pocket . 'Sorry ' , Rin bowed in an apologetic way to the woman. 'Filthy and disgusting living creature' , the woman said in response. 'Ugh, I have to bath immediately I go home' , Rin heard her say . Rin ignored it and went her way. 'These rich brats . They think they are on top of the world' ,Rin scoffed . She waved Bokie when she saw him . ' What did you get?' , she asked. Bokie scratched his head in shame . 'Just this' , Bokie showed a red pouch full of coins. 'Hah , then I win ' , Rin said in glee. They only spent the coins they stole but for the family heirlooms and accessories , they kept them hidden. Because if someone saw them going to trade it or pawn it , they would be in deep trouble. Little did they know someone was watching them .
