Jayjay's POV:
"Well.." I started off "If this 'April' girl is so important, why did she leave?" Silence. Everyone stared at each other, of course, they didn't know why she left.
"No one knows," Keifer said, leaning back in his chair, fingers drumming his desk. "She just... vanished. Like smoke."
Yuri stayed quiet, his eyes fixed on the window. The same way he always did when her name came up.
Ci-N's smile vanished, "But she wouldn't leave without a reason," he mumbled, more to himself than us. "April's not like that."
I swallowed, suddenly aware of how heavy the air felt. So she wasn't just some legend… she was real.
Then Drew leaned in with a mischievous grin: "Question is… what happens when April comes back and finds you sitting in her seat?"
"She'd probably change her seat..." I said, in a savage tone "or act stupid and hold a grudge?"
"Nope." Yuri said, he looked... quite different, possessive and his lips almost twitched up to a smile.
He looked at me, stared actually. Not cold, not mocking. Just thoughtful.
"She would sit beside you and ask if you like Shinchan or Doraemon."
Then, Ci-N burst out laughing "Pain in the neck! That's so much like her!"
Keifer smirked, then started "That's true. She is chaos wrapped in an uniform. And the snack-machine after Yuri"
Snack-machine? What kind of a name is that! Lame Keifer.
"She throws erasers at our heads!" Rory grinned, shouting.
"So, not a beauty with brain?" I said, I mean, my expectations are high. Excuse me!
"Beauty, yes. Brains, oh of course! She has a BIG BRAIN!" Ci-N snorted, and he grinned cheekily.
"She could switch from sweet to sharp in a second. But you wanna know the craziest part?" Kit suddenly chimed in, smirking.
I raised an eyebrow. "Go on..."
"She'd do all that with a smirk on her face!" Kit chuckled, "Don't you dare ever say anything bad about Yuri, Keifer or Section E in front of her!"
I stared at them. April seemed more like a funny idiot than a person! "So, she's nice but not nice? She's mean, but in a nice way?"
They all chuckled. "Exactly." Keifer said, smirking.
"Yeah.." Yuri said with a smile, WHAT?! HE SMILED! "She's nice... but not the way you'd expect."
"More like an 'I-care-about-you-so-I'm-gonna-insult-you' kind of way." Ci-N joined, grinning.
"Her favorite thing to do was give you a compliment, then follow it up with an insult." Mayo chuckled. "Like, 'You have nice eyes, but the rest of your face looks like an ugly painting'"
My eyebrows shot up. "Wait... so she's like, a constant contradiction?"
They all nodded, and I saw Yuri smile again. Damn! I've barely seen him smile seven times before!
"That's April for you. One moment she's handing out snacks and giving homework help, the next she's insulting your fashion choices and telling you you're dumber than a brick."
I couldn't help it, I laughed. "Sounds like she's a handful."
"You have no idea," Ci-N groaned, hiding a smile. "She's both IMPOSSIBLE and THE BEST"
Hah, she seems like a good person. But, my insecurity? Will they keep hating me, how will I be able to talk to Kuya Angelo even if I make a fight? Ugh! Why do I feel like April? I feel happy that she's coming, but she seems like she's going to replace me!
Ci-N's words echoed in my mind. "She's both IMPOSSIBLE and THE BEST." The way he said it, the way they all said like it was an undeniable fact. I had to suppress a pang of jealousy, but that was stupid, wasn't it?
I was being ridiculous. I didn't even know this girl, this April, and already I was feeling threatened.
"Focus, JayJay." Don't lose yourself in your insecurity.
Felix suddenly clapped, bringing me back to reality.
"Alright everyone, if April was here. She would probably say us to stop gossiping like old grandmas and do something ACTUAL productive."
Yuri smiled, nostalgia hit him, hm? Keifer's face seemed to relax more than usual.
Ci-N nudged me with his elbow, "He's right! She would be like:"
"Quit gossiping, you all are JUST. YOUNG. TEENS. TSS! Pain in the neck... quit the sentimental act, idiots! Do something USEFUL!!!" he mimicked April flawlessly, oh that's how April speaks? His voice matched her, let's hope.
The whole Section E bursted out laughing, some chanted 'SPOT ON'!
"You guys really miss her, huh?" I asked them, trying to keep my insecurity to myself.
Keifer sighed heavily "She really knew how to make me to feel to both hug her and strangle her."
"She was the glue of Section E, she kept everyone together." Felix said.
Their words struck a chord within me. I could hear the affection in their voices, the longing, the nostalgia. They talked about April like she was a missing piece in their lives.
"From what you've said, she sounds... incredible." I managed to speak! Wow!
Maybe, she could be good friends with me, and not a threat.
Maybe, she wouldn't try to replace me and be friendly with me?
The boys shared a glance, a mix of sadness and pride flickering across their faces.
"She was," Yuri said, his voice barely above a whisper, "Incredible, infuriating, and a complete nightmare."
Felix chuckled.
April was more than just a friend to them. She was their leader, their glue, and their pain in the neck.
I've never seen Section E be sentimental or as happy as this, why? They love her. She's the main character. After a long moment of silence, Kit broke it. "Let's eat!" Oh, shoot. It was lunch break! I forgot to eat, help us.
We all left the classroom, and sat outside. Just as we started eating, Ci-N shouted "My sandwich is rotten! It developed fungi! Ewww"
We all burst out laughing, but just then Ci-N dramatically held the sandwich up. We all took a look at it, sure it developed mold. "Whe-when did you even pack it?" I asked him, still giggling.
"MORNING! The tita did! I rarely got lunch!" He said, eyes wide in horror about his sandwich.
"It adds flavour, Ci-N. Just eat it!~" Felix said.
Ci-N looked at Yuri, of course. "BETRAYAL! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAVE SOME SNACKS FOR ME!"
Ugh. Now, he looks at me, THIEF! HE TOOK IT! NO!
"Help your brother~" he said, wiggling his eyebrows. Ugh, that smirk. I hate it. Before I could even share it, he took it himself. BETRAYER!
