Alistair covered his face with both hands. From the other side of the forest, he could feel his body wanting to shift. The urge was strong, almost painful, but he held himself back. It was still daytime and the police were moving around the edge of the forest. Any wrong move would draw attention they could not afford.
"Forgive me, boss. I should have warned you," Silas said, bowing his head. He could hardly believe this was happening under his watch as beta.
"He is awake. I can feel it," Alistair said, his hands resting on his waist. He shook his head. "Kol won't rest until he gets his revenge."
"We have a treaty. No one is supposed to break it. There is a price for that," Silas reminded him.
"You don't know him," Alistair said with a dark chuckle as he turned to face him. "I know him too well. With Kol awake, he will find a way to push us against the treaty."
"Maybe you should meet him. Talk things out."
