Chapter 21 - Fierce Battle, Part III

Compared to Redfield's duel, Bundy World's fight with Kalifa was… well, a lot more chaotic.

At first, they'd been fighting inside the same upper-floor chamber as the others.

But Bundy's fighting style was the opposite of refined — raw power, wild swings, zero patience.

The floor didn't last thirty seconds.

BOOM!

The whole level collapsed, and the two of them came crashing straight down into the floor below — right into what turned out to be a bathroom.

Bundy stared in disbelief as Kalifa climbed daintily out of the wreckage and into the large marble tub.

"...You've got to be kidding me."

Kalifa sighed dramatically, brushing dust from her golden hair.

"Wait a moment," she said sweetly. "I want to take a bath first."

Bundy blinked. "Huh?"

Before he could react, Kalifa began stripping off her soaked suit jacket — piece by piece — and slid into the steaming tub as if she were alone.

The steam thickened; bubbles began to rise.

Bundy's massive frame stiffened. His face, usually ferocious in battle, now carried the awkward panic of a man who had no idea where to look.

"What the hell kind of fight is this…?" he muttered.

Then—

The bubbles began to move.

At first, they gathered lazily, drifting closer.

Then they surged forward, like living things.

Kalifa's eyes gleamed behind the steam.

"Relax Bubble!"

The air filled with shining foam as it rushed toward him.

Bundy's eyes widened. "So that's your game—sneak attack, huh?"

He growled, muscles coiling.

"Twentyfold Speed!"

Whoosh!

In an instant, his body blurred, vanishing and reappearing several meters away as the bubbles exploded harmlessly against the wall behind him.

Kalifa's face twisted.

Her plan — temptation first, ambush second — had been flawless. But this brute's reaction time was inhuman.

"So fast… I didn't even see him move."

Even so, her orders weren't to win — only to stall him.

If she could keep this maniac busy until Lucci or Kaku finished, she'd have done her part.

But her confidence was waning.

Bundy straightened, glaring down at her with stormy eyes.

"You sneaky woman! You dare try that on me?! You're dead!"

Kalifa gasped and thrust both hands forward.

"Soap Sheep!"

A massive, foamy ram burst into existence, charging forward just as Bundy's arm came down in a furious punch.

WHAM!

The hit connected — but instead of impact, it felt like he'd struck a cloud. The soap absorbed most of the force, rippling around his arm like a pillow.

Bundy's fist sank deep into the creature's soft form, the energy of his blow dissipating harmlessly.

"Huh?"

His eyes narrowed. "Interesting ability…"

Before she could counter, he wrenched his arm free and leapt backward, widening the gap between them.

For a long moment, the two stared at each other — neither gaining ground.

Kalifa smirked, confidence returning.

"So this is the power of a five-hundred-million-berry pirate? Disappointing."

Bundy's face darkened. His jaw clenched.

He didn't reply — just started to laugh.

Kalifa frowned. "What's so funny?"

Still chuckling, Bundy turned around, sauntered to the far wall, and started punching it.

Hard.

Chunks of stone flew as he hammered away. Kalifa's eyes widened.

"What in the world… is he doing? Having a tantrum?"

After a few blows, Bundy stopped, dusted his hands, and turned to her with a crooked grin.

Something in that grin sent a chill down her spine.

"You know your biggest mistake, woman?" he said softly. "You thought you'd already figured me out."

He sat down casually, flipping a small rock between his fingers.

Kalifa scoffed, though her voice trembled.

"Your theatrics won't scare me."

Bundy didn't bother replying. He listened quietly for a moment, as if sensing something distant.

"Judging from the sounds, Redfield's probably done by now," he muttered. "Guess it's time to wrap this up too."

"What—?" Kalifa frowned, not catching the words.

"Nothing you need to worry about. It's over."

Before she could retort, a sharp whistling sound tore through the air.

SHNK!

She barely managed to tilt her head aside — but a line of crimson bloomed across her cheek.

Her hand went to the wound, trembling. She looked at the blood on her fingers in disbelief.

"What… what just—"

Whss! Whss! Whss!

The air filled with rapid-fire projectiles, too fast to see.

Thud-thud-thud-thud-thud!

Her Soap Sheep defense shattered instantly, reduced to nothing but shredded bubbles.

The next volley hit her square in the chest, slamming her into the wall.

Kalifa gasped — she hadn't even realized he was throwing stones.

Each pebble, coated in Armament Haki, was black and gleaming like iron.

They pierced through her foam constructs as if they weren't even there.

Her body ached from dozens of impacts; she collapsed to the floor, consciousness slipping.

Bundy exhaled, straightening up. He turned to the door, opened it slowly, then looked back at the motionless figure in the tub.

A smirk crept across his lips.

"Thanks for the hospitality."

Bang.

The door swung shut behind him.

Kalifa lay still for a moment, face pale, eyes fluttering half-open.

Shame, anger, disbelief — a storm of emotions twisted her features before everything went dark.

Thus—

On Enies Lobby, CP9's only female agent, Kalifa, was defeated.

Meanwhile, outside—

BOOM!

A massive crash shook the structure as Arthur sent Jabra flying straight through a wall.

The man's wolfish form slammed into the corridor beyond, rolling across the floor before coming to a stop near the shattered railing.

Hands in his pockets, Arthur strolled casually through the ruined doorway.

Having already "spoiled" this entire arc in his previous life, he knew exactly where Spandam and Lucci would run.

He wasn't worried — they could never escape his reach.

He stepped into the open air, lightning flickering faintly around his feet. The great Bridge of Justice loomed ahead, stretching toward the massive Gates.

"No need to chase them now. I'll just wait for them to walk right into me. Should be fun to see the look on their faces."

But fate, as usual, had a sense of humor.

As soon as he stepped outside—

THUD!

A familiar figure landed on the cliff in front of him, battered but alive.

It was Jabra — the same man he'd just kicked through the building.

The CP9 agent looked up weakly, only to see Arthur standing above him again.

The despair on his face was almost comical.

"You again?!"

Jabra's instincts screamed at him to run, but he knew he wouldn't make it.

There was only one chance — a desperate all-or-nothing gamble.

He lunged first, unleashing every ounce of power, claws gleaming, fangs bared.

A mad dog's charge.

Arthur sighed, shaking his head.

"Could've just played dead. Would've saved yourself the trouble…"
