Aurora looked into his eyes and realized she should say no. That she should take a step back. That she should ask questions - about why he pretended and lied to her, about the mate thing, about why this world kept trying to tie her to people she barely understood.
Instead, her gaze drifted back to his mouth.
That should not have happened either. She had been kissed before. She was kissing Asher just hours ago. And yet Elixir's kiss had left her mind blank and her body feeling like someone had reached inside her chest and rearranged everything.
And she hated that she understood now. It wasn't that she couldn't push him away. It was that she no longer wanted to.
Her fingers moved from his chest to his nape and Elixir's eyes dropped immediately to hers - bright, focused, and waiting.
