Chapter 21
Elena
The air around us was silent, Bernard was still in his wolf form, looking in the direction where the wolves ran off. I felt my heart beat slowly returning to normal as the dateline gradually began to leave my body. It was still raining but it had lightning now and the thunder had calmed. I whipped away some of the mud that had splattered onto my face. I didn't dare to look towards his direction because I knew that his wolf was in control and he was still in active threat mode. I moved to where my duffle bag was laying on the ground and shouldered it. As I turned around to leave, I saw his naked human form standing in front of me. I shrieked and turned around, my cheek heating at the sight of him.
I was tempted to turn back and look at him again because the little glimpse I caught was not enough for me, I wanted to see more. I scolded myself internally, I wasn't supposed to be thinking of him in that way.
