Helen walked towards the bedside where I stood, I moved out of the way as she took my place beside Bernard. I felt my wolf snap at her for coming so close to our mate but I managed to hold her back. This is not the time to fight her. She bent down and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead. It was a sweet gesture and to anyone outside, it looked like a loving moment between two mates but to me, it was like a bullet hit right through my chest. I tried to swallow the bile that rose from my stomach. This whole situation is incredibly uncomfortable for me, I don't want to be here. She stood up and looked at me with her nose turned up.


"If you want to make yourself useful, then go and get me some iced sparkling water. I can't drink the crap that the nurse brought here." She said to me.
