Chapter 13 - Cards

Vesh checked the effects of his Mystic Path's cards.

[ Far Reaching Destiny ]

Summon Condition: Not set yet.

Rating: —

Effect:

—> Use a Destiny Echo to manifest the being with one of its unwritten destinies. The Manifested Destiny is one of the countless possibilities that could have happened if they were with you. The power of the Manifested Destiny is determined by the Rating and consumed Mystic Energy when using this card.

Vesh also acquired information about how Mystic Path worked and knew why Arven pierced himself with his own daggers and bled.

It was the summon condition he set to summon the card.

He'd also have to set one, and based on that, he would get a rating, as well as the cooldown period.

But before that, he checked the second card.

[ Unformed Memory ]

Summon Condition: Activation of Far Reaching Destiny

Rating: Depends on the slotted Destiny Echo.

Slot: [0/1].

Effect:

—> You can store the memory you made with the being whose destiny you manifested, allowing you to summon that being in that state by slotting its Destiny Echo.

Vesh understood, but he wanted to see it now.

First, he needed to set the condition to summon his first card—Far Reaching Destiny.

The more difficult and tough the condition, the higher the rating, thus, higher power.

The condition could be changed with a 24-hour period break, so it was flexible.

But he wanted something extremely tough to acquire a high rating.

Something absurd.

Something impossible.

Something unimaginable.

But something he still could do.

'What is it?' Vesh asked himself.

Vesh looked at the sky, slowly forming a thought.

'Give me all the pain Veron, Revi, Miru, and the wolves experienced when they died…multiply it by one...thousand. Once I endure this pain, let the card be summoned.'

[ Condition Set. Type: Reactive. Once you will to activate the card, you will feel the magnified pain in your mind and soul. If you can bear it, the card will be summoned. ]

'Give it to me and activate the card.'

In the next moment, every eye on his eldritch form's jaws burst fully open.

Every tooth trembled as violent static scraped against his consciousness.

His open maw—facing the sky—contorted and expanded as if trying to scream, yet no sound could escape.

His body twisted grotesquely. Not breaking as he had no bones, but warping, contorting like liquid shadows forced through a narrow void.

His countless eyes flickered between wide terror and blind static.

Some eyes blinked furiously.

Some rolled upward.

Some froze completely.

His maw snapped shut….then ripped open even wider, as if trying to swallow the sky itself to drown the pain.

Pain lashed through him again—

so sharp, so catastrophic that his entire form glitched.

Eyes blinked out of sync.

Jaws snapped in loops.

His body split into mirrored copies, each one experiencing the torture independently.

He saw—no, felt Revi's death.

Miru's overwhelming fear and sadness.

Voren's hopelessness.

All of it was flooding him.

All of it made it ten thousand times worse.

His monstrous form clawed at empty air, trying to find something—anything—to anchor himself.

But there was nothing.

Only suffering.

Only punishment.

Only raw truth.

He fell, but he did not break.

That was the worst part.

The pain did not shatter him.

It carved him.

Etched itself into his essence.

Forced him to acknowledge every fragment of agony he wanted to carry.

He wanted to shut himself in. Erase everything. Death seemed pleasant amidst the pain he felt.

Every eye of his shook violently, wanting to close forever…yet none shut.

Not a single one.

He endured.

Not because he was strong. No.

But because he refused to let their pain disappear!

He refused to let them be just like another casualty without meaning. He refused to let their pain amount to nothing, as the countless people similar to Veron and his family feel, and just disappear as they suffer at the whims of the strong! Just like how his family back on Earth was tortured and killed because of the whim of someone strong!

He will make their pain his strength!

He will make their pain a sword that cuts down all the evil!

After who knows how long, the pain stopped abruptly. Completely.

Vesh felt a buzz. His consciousness was muddy.

His immortal formless body is in pieces. All eyes were glazed, open, and cracked.

But he endured.

[ Far Reaching Destiny ]

Summon Condition: Thousandfold pain of a memory.

Rating: SSS
