"But I'm adopted," Gav says.
"Reel? Really has an unlucky life. He doesn't know his real parents. No one does. Is adopted by rich parents who were killed, and he's alone and only has me," B says dramatically.
"What a way to summarize someone's life," Pearl says sarcastically, finally speaking up.
"You can just do a DNA test to know if Cai, Almond, and B are really triplets, and if Gav is Joy's long-lost brother. Problem solved," Pearl says, and all listen attentively.
"My Pearl is so smart," B says happily.
"You are really lovesick," Cai says.
"One day, I'm really going to shut you up forever," B says in a sweet voice.
"And we all know she is joking," Jade tells Cai.
"Don't underestimate her craziness," Gav tells Jade.
"But wait, how do you know Treasure's parents and B's parents?" Pearl asks.
"We were childhood friends. Mook and Waan have always liked each other, but their parents didn't consent to their relationship. When they were 15 and 16 respectively, they somehow got themselves pregnant and ran away. They couldn't wait. The six of us planned to run away together anyway, because John and James were also dating, but their parents were so homophobic, and they ran away on their own before Mook and Waan. Same for Jessica and me, so we planned to run away. But Mook and Waan couldn't wait. Since then, I have been looking for the four of them but couldn't find them. Well, they were always good at hide and seek, but Joy found them for me. When she told me she had new friends at school and showed me your pictures, I immediately knew I had found them. And the reason they listen to me is because kinda older than them. Mook was exactly like B—she's cute when she wants to be but otherwise she's a psycho. Waan was exactly like Cai—he's somehow calm, while Jade is the combination of the two. Treasure is calm because both her parents are calm, and Joy is calm too, right?" Jennifer says and ends with a joke after that long sad story.
"If you had said Joy and Treasure were calm three days or a week ago, I would have agreed, but after today, they are just as psychotic as B," Pearl says innocently.
"Another psychopath calling another person a psycho," Gav mutters. Jennifer can't help but laugh.
"But B and Joy are on another level. That's why every psychotic person needs a calm person," Jade says.
"True. That's why we have PearlB and JoySure," Cai says, and the four girls look at him, staring daggers.
"I know about PearlB being a thing, but when did JoySure become a thing?" Jennifer asks.
"Just now," Gav replies.
"I have no problem with it," Jennifer says.
"Mom," Joy and Treasure call out, clearly not agreeing.
They were clearly having a lot of fun with each other when B received a call and everyone went silent.
"Speak," she tells the person on the phone in a cold, authoritative tone.
Stranger: "Boss, I wanted to ask if you are ready to question the dirty blonde hair guy."
B: "Sometimes you forget that I'm still in high school. I have assignments. I'll tell you when I'm ready. And don't call unless I call you. Got it?"
Stranger: "Yes, Boss," he says, hanging up.
"Just one of my men," she says.
"What exactly do you guys do exactly?" Treasure asks.
"What do they do in Italy?" Jade asks.
"Cartels, no mafias," Joy replies.
"She's smart," Pearl says in an affirmative tone.
"Your parents really became mafias," Jennifer says.
"It was their dream job," Jennifer adds.
"No normal person would want their dream to be a mafia well since when we're my parents normal anyway," Cai says.
"It's already getting late. Let's go home, which reminds me we have a stupid sociology assignment," Treasure says in anger.
"Sociology?" Jennifer asks.
"It's a stupid assignment we have about sexualities," Cai replies.
"Sexualities?" Gav, Pearl, Jade, and Jennifer ask, clearly surprised.
"Why are you surprised? I told you when I came to your class the other time," B says while checking her phone. She was texting her mom.
"I thought that was an excuse to get me out of school," he replies.
"Jennifer, sorry, I mean Mom, Babe asked me to plead on her behalf that you should forgive her, that it was an honest mistake, and that dude I call my father says he will give anything and do anything as long as you forgive him," B tells Jennifer, who found it funny they sent their daughter to her—and the names she called her parents.
"I will suggest you ask Dad for a car. No, a bike. No, something he can't say no to, like Gav and Cai getting engaged," Jade says, and Cai's face goes red.
"Seriously, I have no problem with it," Gav says, which makes Cai choke on his own saliva.
"You aren't worthy of any of my brothers," B says.
"What should I do to make myself worthy of Cai?" Gav says. He seems like he's taking it seriously, but he was joking—he didn't like Cai like that.
"You have to like him first, you fool. I see right through you; you're doing this as a joke," B says, seeing through him.
"You guys would make a great couple," Joy adds.
"For like five minutes, will you stop shipping me with Gav? He doesn't even like me," Cai tells Joy.
Jennifer was watching the drama unfold.
"He will, I can see it," Treasure adds. Pearl was just smiling at their drama.
"It depends on whether you want me to like you or not," Gav tells Cai, and Cai doesn't say anything.
"It's a yes or no question," Pearl tells Cai.
"Well..." Cai wasn't able to put any words together. He couldn't tell if he wanted Gav to like him or not. Well, he had to admit he had a mini tiny crush on him since childhood.
"My brother has already fallen for you. His soul has left his body," B says in a teasing voice.
"He has even lost his voice," Jade adds.
"Just like how you lost your voice when you look at Pearl, and how you can't stop talking about Jade, your crush who has the same name as you," Cai says with a strong comeback.
"I don't know what you are talking about," B and Jade tell Cai.
"So let me get this straight, we have CaiReel, JoySure, PearlB, and Jade square," Jennifer says.
"No, we don't," they all tell her.
"I get it, let's go home," Jennifer says with a teasing smile.
Almost every one of them was asleep. They looked so tired, even Gav and B were asleep.
"Wow, they must be so tired. Even Gav and B are asleep," Pearl said with a smile.
"What do you mean?" Jennifer asked.
"Gav and B have insomnia, so they keep each other company when they can't sleep. Even I found out today," Pearl says while Jennifer nodded. Pearl couldn't stop looking at B.
"You must really like her," Jennifer asked, and Pearl's face immediately went red while trying to deny it.
"No-no-o-o-o! You have gotten it wrong, I don't like B that way," Pearl said trying to hide her red face.
"Let me tell you this: there is nothing wrong with liking your boss's daughter, as long as she likes you too. I'm sure Mook wouldn't have a problem with it. She's a Gen Z mom," Jennifer says reassuring Pearl.
"But what if—" Pearl was saying before she stopped abruptly.
"If you keep doubting things, you will never get anything done. And don't take too long or someone might snatch her away from you. Time waits for nobody, so make good use of it," Jennifer said, followed by a calm silence.
"What if she doesn't like me?" Pearl asks.
"What if she does? Never think about only one side of something; also reason about both the positive and negative," Jennifer adds.
Pearl was quiet throughout the whole ride. By the time they got to the Lee Matter mansion, it was already so late. So Waan suggested all the children, including Jennifer, John, and James, stay that night. They had enough rooms.
"Hey, wake up," Pearl says waking Gav and Treasure up.
"What?" Treasure complains.
"Will you carry Joy or not? It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Pearl says teasing her. Treasure suddenly opens her eyes wide awake.
"I'll carry her," she says with a wide smile.
"And Gav—" Pearl was about to say, but he already carried Cai after carefully making sure it was Cai and not Jade.
"Wow, that was fast," Treasure says.
"What about B and Jade?" Gav asks yawning.
"I'll carry B, and Jade? He will come up when he wakes up," Pearl says carrying B, heading to the elevator.
"Jade," Treasure says giving him a hard kick.
"Wake up or you will have to sleep in the car," Treasure tells him. But he seemed to have no intention of waking up, so they left him there and all headed upstairs to the top floor.
"Wow, bridal carry," Mook says in a teasing voice after seeing the way Treasure, Gav, and Pearl carried Joy, Cai, and B. "I need a video to post on my IG," Mook says, taking a video.
"B is going to freak out if she sees it," Waan says with a smile.
"You still haven't let go of this habit of shipping people," John says shaking his head.
"You are shipping your own children," James adds.
"Once a shipper, always a shipper," Mook replies cockily.
"No wonder your children are so cocky. Their mother is more cocky than they are," Jennifer says, coming out of the elevator.
Mook immediately freezes.
"Unnie, why don't you just forgive us? You know, forgive and forget," Waan says, trying to please Jennifer as she sits down.
"Have you ever followed that rule?" Jennifer asks.
"The two of you have always said, and I quote, 'The word forgive is lame, I believe in you sow what you reap, tit for tat, and revenge,'" John says in a mocking voice.
"To make it worse, it seems they passed on that rule to their children," James said in his usual calm voice.
"Mook, I heard about your other 4 children from B. It must have been hard," Jennifer says in a sad voice.
"It was. So damn hard, I almost went crazy," Waan says.
"Give Almond, B, and Cai just 3 months or less than that, they will find them," Mook says. She believes in them so much.
"Wait, you couldn't find them for years, but you believe the triplets will find them in 3 months or less?" John asked in a confused tone.
"It doesn't make any sense," James said just as confused as John.
"Mook has always been a psycho, and always gets what she wants. But in my perspective, these children of hers are worse. Cai, the oldest, is calm, but I'd like a bomb that could go off anytime. Almond is hard to read and complicated—you can never make out what is going on in that head of his. And B, the youngest, could be the nicest person on earth to the people she likes, and the next moment cold. Doesn't give a shit, bad temper and also cool at the same time. And sometimes all she sees is red, and she can never be underestimated. They are each other's strength—alone they are powerful, together they are unstoppable. I must say, if they should find the rest of the four children, I'm sure they would be exactly like the triplets. So wherever they should be right now, they will rule the place like their siblings," Jennifer says. Mook and Waan were shocked. They knew everything she said about them, but hearing it from Jennifer, even though she just met them, was a big deal.
"WOW," was all they could say.
"Treasure and Pearl do the craziest things while maintaining a calm face. Those kinds of people are more scary than serial killers. Gav is neutral and believes in right and wrong, black and white, and plans on keeping that balance and could eliminate anything that obstructs that balance. Joy, even I get scared of her sometimes. In one word: just because they are cute-faced doesn't mean they are innocent. They are one scary bunch. They could kill for each other. So I suggest you take extra care of them, especially B, Joy, and Treasure, and especially B," Jennifer says. It sounded serious and something they should do with care.
"Hmmm, we live in a world of magic. What if they get powers?" Waan asks.
"And they get out of control," John adds.
"I noticed B's hair was changing from its normal midnight black to red. Jade already has highlights of red," Mook says.
The atmosphere was tense.
Just then Jade came in rubbing his hair, and the highlight of red in his hair was clearly visible.
"Why is the atmosphere so tense?" Jade asks. "Were you talking about us?" By "us," he obviously meant Joy and the rest.
"And what makes you think we were talking about you guys?" Jennifer asks.
"My hearing has always been good, and I can feel whenever someone is talking about me," Jade replies.
"We get it. Go to your room, Almond," Mook says.
"Today is the most stressful day ever. So much happened in one day," Jade says whining again.
"Do you want me to repeat myself?" Mook says in a strict voice.
"Sorry, I'm going," he says with a nervous smile as he heads to a room he really didn't remember which room was his, so he just slept in a random room.
"And Mook, do a DNA test for Almond, Blessing, and Cai, and for Gavreel and Joy," Jennifer says in a commanding tone.
"Why? And why should I do it? Waan, John, and James can do it. I definitely do not like stress," Mook complained, sounding exactly like B when she's in her whining mode.
"Are you questioning me?" Jennifer asks.
"She asked you to do it because you and B have the best connection. If you do it, you can get the results in hours instead of waiting for days," Waan explained why Mook nodded in agreement.
"My connections would take at least 3 days, but B, sometimes the way she does things surprises me. Her connections are the best," Mook says.
"Let's go to sleep. And before I forget, I found out the triplets' birthday is in 14 days—Feb 14. Crustin's birthday is on the 14 too," Jennifer says in a sad excited voice.
"So is Dustin," Waan says in a sad tone.
"So is Austin and Beverly," John says.
"Wait, let me get this straight. Who is Crustin, Austin, and Beverly?" Mook asks.
"Our children," they reply.
"So wait, we have Austin, Beverly, Crustin, Dustin, and the triplets, and their birthdays are all on the 14th," James says.
"I promise to find them and make them all do their birthdays together..."
