Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 :A Heavy promise

Thursday, January 25th2017

"I promise to find and make they all do their birthdays together," B said, appearing out of nowhere. She looked like she hadn't slept at all.

"That's a heavy promise," Jade said, appearing out of nowhere too.

"Shut up. You know well, just as she doesn't make empty threats, she doesn't make promises she can't keep," Cai said, appearing out of nowhere.

"Why don't you all just come out instead of hiding?" Pearl said. Turns out they had been listening all along.

"And Jennifer mom, I'm the most gentle and kind," B said, which made everyone cough.

"What?" B asked.

"You are actually the opposite," Gav muttered under his breath.

"Well, are you? Can you do it—finding about 4 to 9 people in 14 days?" Waan said in a worried tone.

"I would have no problem. I have Cai, Jade, Gav, Joy, Treasure, and Pearl. They would help," B said with a smile.

"Working with you would be torture. Why don't we just do solo?" Cai said, obviously not wanting to work with B.

"Why don't you wanna work with your sister?" Mook asked.

"Maybe because she will make us do all the work," Jade said.

"Really?" B said with a wicked smile.

"Here we go again, everlasting argument," Joy said.

"Don't argue. You guys working together would be better than solo," John said.

"Doesn't that mean we can skip school?" Treasure said in an excited tone, and the others were obviously excited too—except Pearl.

"You don't want to skip school?" Gav asked her.

"I study architecture. Skipping one day of school is like ruining years of learning how to bottle flip," Pearl said in a duh voice.

"So can we skip school?" B asked.

"No," they all said (John, James, Mook, Waan, Jennifer).

"Why?" Jade asked, but they gave no reply.

"Go to bed. You have school tomorrow," Mook said.

"But—" Cai said.

"One," Mook said counting, and they all disappeared into their rooms.

Friday,28th of January,2017

B was the leader of the operation, cos why not. She was busy multitasking—doing the stupid sociology assignment and finding the children. A lot of work. Her phone kept ringing throughout the class.

She was presently in Gav's class. She was interviewing a student who is transgender to write about her life.

"So, do you regret becoming a girl even though you were originally a guy?" B asked, almost impatiently.

"Well, I have no regrets. I think it's better to be a girl," the girl answered.

"Ohhhh okay, thank you. Before I forget, your name?" B asked before the girl could answer. She received a call for the nth time today.

"Sorry," she said.

"Speak," she told the guy on the phone.

Stranger: "Boss, I found him. Dustin, I mean young master should probably be in Italy, Milano, right now. According to our calculations, he should be around the ghetto."

B: "Book tickets for all of us to Italy. Remember, we must be done before the 14th."

Stranger: "But boss, you don't need to bother yourself. We could go get him."

B: "Are you questioning my authority again, Nicole?"

Nicole: "I dare not, boss."

B: "It's my problem if I wanna go or not. So stop putting your nose in my business and do what you are asked to, got it?"

Nicole: "Got it," (says in a trembling voice and hangs up).

"Sorry, where were we?" B tells the girl with a smile.

"My name is Laks," the girl tells B with dreamy eyes.

"Thank you," B says as she proceeds to leave the class.

"Wait, what about me? I'm gay, don't you need to interview me?" Gav says.

"I know so much about you, I could write a book about you. I don't need to interview you. We're having a meeting at lunch break at Subway. Don't be late. Or else. And inform Jade and Pearl," B says seriously.

"I'll be there on time. I value my life, boss," he says sarcastically.

After B left the class, Laks came over to Gav.

"You know her?" she asked with a smile.

"Yes, she's been my best friend for as long as I can remember," Gav replied in a confused tone, because he couldn't figure out why Laks was asking about B.

"Is she single? Wait, does she date transgender males?" Laks asked.

"She's bi. And trust me, she's scary. Think mafia boss. She's exactly that," Gav told her. Laks was taken aback.

"She's a mafia boss?" she asked again in case she heard wrong.

"Her whole family are mafia. I'm not supposed to say this, but since you're my close friend, I'll tell you this: you don't wanna see her in her Vanessa mode," Gav said.

"Ka ko i i e desu," Laks said.

"Nah, she isn't that cool," Gav said.

"You understand Japanese?" Laks said, shocked.

"Yeah, including Korean, Thai, and Chinese—any Asian language," Gav replied as he went back to his seat because the teacher arrived.

B just entered the class and looked so tired.

"Why do you look like an overtime salary earner?" Joy asked, giving her a bottle of water.

"Interviewing someone is so stressful," she said, putting her head on Cai's shoulder.

"Lucky Jade, he gets to skip school," Treasure said.

"Yeah, he doesn't need to come to school for the rest of the term," Cai replied.

"Before I forget, we have a meeting at Subway this lunch, and we are going to Italy," B said like it was the most normal thing.

"Hmm, why are we going to Italy?" Joy asked.

"Our first target is there—Dustin—and at the ghetto," B replied looking like hot shit.

"Wow, he is in such an exciting place," Cai said smiling.

"I know," B replied happily.

"Why would a ghetto be an exciting place?" Treasure asked.

"Exactly," Joy added.

Soon the math teacher entered. I have been walking around the school for as long as I can remember, so I'm so tired, I don't think I can understand a shit about what he's saying. Soon our phones started going off. Joy's phone rang first.

"Excuse me," Joy said, and the teacher nodded, meaning she could pick up the call.

"I told you not to call when I'm in class," Joy said, gritting her teeth.

Stranger: "Hmm, sorry Joy."

"It's boss, you fool. Do you wanna die young?" B threatened the guy on the phone.

Stranger: "No boss," (he said in fear). "As I was saying, we found Jennifer and Crustin. Well, they are together but they aren't also closer. They were separated from your mom, Miss Jessica. It's been a few months now, but you must be too guilty to tell. But don't worry, they are closer but also apart. It must be the sibling bond."

Joy: "Can you cut the crap and go straight to the point, Lima?"

Lima: "They are currently in Thailand."

Joy: "Thailand? We aren't even Asian, we are pure British."

Lima: Sometimes they disappear and even know one can find them, It's strange but I'm investigating it.

Lima: "Talking of them Being in Thailand,Exactly. Like how did they get there, boss?"

Joy: "Lima, are you asking me that? How the fuck am I supposed to know? Now hang up, I'm in my math class and I'm pretending I'm understanding."

Lima: "Yes boss." (Hangs up)

"I'm really sorry for that," Joy said. The teacher was still in awe, not understanding a thing. Just when class was about to finish and the teacher was just sitting in a chair, everyone was doing their own thing. Treasure's phone rang.

Treasure: "Speak."

Stranger: "Boss, we found the Wonder twins."

Treasure: "Okay, where are they?"

Stranger: "In LA."

Treasure: "Good job."

Stranger: "Thank you, boss." (Hangs up)

"Wait, it was so fast. I mean, you're speaking with the subordinates the triplets gave us. Why is mine so talkative?" Joy whined, pouting.

"Treasure's was on my side, yours is from Jade's side. Do you understand now?" B explained.

"B is really strict with her men. They are the most reliable and the strongest. Jade's men are also good, but they are playful—just like Jade. And mine—you really don't wanna know," Cai added.

"Yours are pretty reliable too. They just act like silent killers. You know that anime, Eminem or I don't remember the rest—the fight in the shadow while living in it? It's pretty cool," B said, and the bell rang for lunch.

They immediately arrived at Subway. Everyone was there early—even Pearl, whose school was far from Subway—except Gavreel.

He immediately tiptoed like a thief.

"And where do you think you are going?" B said in a cold voice. Gav immediately crashed on the floor.

"Jesus, don't ever use that voice on me," Gav complained.

"I told you not to be late, didn't I? What the hell were you doing?" B asked in a serious tone, and Gav seemed to lose his voice.

"Wow, she looks so cool like this," Treasure said.

"I know," Pearl added.

"I'm expecting an answer, Gav," B said standing up.

"She called him Gav instead of Reel. He's in big trouble," Jade said.

"I was—was—stranded in traffic," Gav said.

"Our school is right across the street, Gav," B said, stating the obvious.

"Wow, I didn't notice," Gav said laughing awkwardly.
