Chapter 10 - Unfamiliar Presence

Three years have passed since Elias began his official training.

He was now ten years old but he surely did not look like a little kid.

He had reached the height of an average person from his previous world. Around the same height as Seraph now basically.

His golden irises became even more visible and shiny, and so did his hair. It reached all the way down to his shoulders now.

'Damn it.'

He thought as he was trying to master a new technique Seraph had taught him recently.

[Iron Petal Guard]

[Mastery: 33%]

The technique itself was defensive, it created iron petals around the user which would spin and deflect incoming attacks aimed at the user..however.

"It consumes way too much stamina.."

Elias sighed as he dropped to the ground trying to regain his breath as his knees hit the cold floor of the training room. It felt like boulders being dragged through his veins due to the excessive use of mana.

Over the years he had learned only a couple of techniques as Seraph wouldn't teach him any unless he mastered the current one.

'Show me my skills..'

The white panel popped up in front of him displaying a total of six skills.

[Swift Edge (1-star)]

[Accelerates the speed at which the user's weapon moves.]

'Already mastered this,' he swiftly demonstrated the technique, his sword slashing through the air making a whistling sound.

It was the technique he learned first… which, after learning more, turned out to be the easiest to master.

[Swiftstep Veil (1-star)]

[Accelerates the user's movement in a single burst.]

'This one reminds me of movements from anime…', he shook his head as he remembered his first time using it and flying headfirst into a wall.

[Pulsebreaker (1-star)]

[Allows the user to create a concentrated shockwave orb at the tip of their weapon.]

The time he first used this orb it nearly blew up on himself, if it wasn't for Seraph being there he would have decimated himself.

[Sensing Threads (1-star)]

[User can create threads of mana as traps, once someone touches the thread the user is notified.]

'This skill proved to be the least useful so far,' he leaned back against the ground the cold floor touching the back of his head as he sighed.

[Verdant Binding (1-star)]

[Allows the user to create tendrils of mana that can bind an opponent for one second.]

Verdant Binding honestly didn't prove that useful against the doll due to it being powered by Seraph's mana.

[Iron Petal Guard (2-star)]

[Iron petals spin in front of the user, deflecting incoming attacks.]

And yep, this was the current technique he was trying to master.

It was his current highest ranked technique which he was still trying to master and was very far from being able to utilize it fully.

He pushed himself up, hands touching the cold floor for a single second as he had regained his breath quickly.

Seraph was absent from his training this time.

From time to time, he would only show up when Elias had asked or if he had made major improvements and he would need guidance again.

But he was definitely watching, Elias felt it as the mana pressure in the room was still present, way worse than how it was years ago.

It made him feel dizzy, but not to the point of being unable to function.

However, the new doll did not stand up for some reason now.

Before Elias even figured out why, suddenly the entire training room shook, no…it wasn't just the training room, but the entire house.

'What the fuck?!' He thought as dust fell from the ceiling and the weapons on the wall rattled around.

Thirty minutes before the shaking began, Seraph was meditating in his room, legs crossed on the ground, he was positioned in a lotus like sit.

The mana pressure inside the room was so high, it would immediately kill any non ranker in an instant. This is also one of the reasons he didn't allow Elias to wander around.

The room was filled with smoke, Seraph was currently working on mastering a new technique however he felt presences wandering around the mountain.

Presence of warriors.

'Is it time already?'

He placed his palms together and muttered the name of a technique.

"Eternal garden of Odil," no visible changes happened inside the house, however on the outside, golden threads erupted from the mountain like veins of a molten sun god. The threads seemed to be burning at an insane temperature.

He disappeared from the room, appearing above the mountain in an instant.

The temperature was freezing however he did not feel anything at all.

"Who sent you?" He spoke to no one yet everyone as his voice echoed through the distance.

Three presences descended from above him.

They floated next to each other calmly, only their figures were visible to the normal person, however, Seraph could even feel their nervousness through their skin, not to mention their appearance.

"We only have to deal with an old man?" The one floating on the left chuckled. She was a middle aged woman, probably in her thirties.

She wore a simple red robe, which highlighted her hair and eyes which were all of the same color.

"I guess we were nervous for nothing." A deep voice said this time.

'The middle one.'

Seraph analyzed the man in an instant, his jet black hair was hiding his scarred eye.

Assuming it was burned due to the charred area and burn scars around his orbitals.

He was wearing clothes made of leather which were poorly created due to the uneven stitching.

And finally the strongest one, according to what Seraph felt based on their presences.

The young lady on the right didn't say a single word.

Her presence felt cold even to Seraph, though it wasn't suffocating or unpleasant. Just pure cold.

Her white hair floated behind her as she wore a simple white robe.

Irises made of ice itself seemed to stare down at Seraph before blinking calmly.

Their mana pressure started increasing drastically as if the blinking was a sign.

'So they are after Elias,' No one should have known of this location. The mountains were hidden by something called mana fog which masked even the most powerful presences.

'They shouldn't know…unless..' he thought back to when Elias was brought to him by the knight.

'If that knight was captured and—'

"What are you thinking so hard about, old man?" The guy screamed at Seraph from the top of his lungs however Seraph didn't even budge.
