Red started with his health as it kept ticking down. His health kept dropping from ninety to sixty, then to fifty. He thought he would die here as he had no way to stop it. Fortunately, it stopped at 56 health; only then did he breathe out in relief.
He closed his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. As his eyes closed, the scene replayed in his head.
'Why? It's not too late to kill me after we kill all the Dire Wolves. Why does the Shaman want him to die so badly?'
It felt like the Shaman would rather the village be destroyed and everyone killed than have him help them all. He just couldn't understand the train of thought of the Shaman for doing so.
Red was confused by the Shaman's decision to kill him at this moment. He tried to understand and tried to recall past events. What did he do for the Shaman to go this far just to kill him? He couldn't remember or find the answer to why.
Then the confusion and disbelief turned into anger. He was filled with rage that his breathing started to become erratic. The Levelheaded was activated and calmed him down.
[Levelheaded has leveled up!]
His Levelheaded reached level 16, but he was far from happy.
"Might as well leave since the Shaman doesn't want my assistance!"
The thought of leaving the village crossed his mind, but then he was confronted with another question.
"But where am I going?" He muttered.
It had not even been a month since he could leave the village. The furthest he went was when he received a task to check on another goblin village. He didn't know what kind of beasts lived outside the village.
If he decides to leave the village, he must go far away from the village. If somehow the village survived the dire wolves' attack, he could not stay near the village. They would hunt him if they knew he ran away from the battle.
'Why should I leave the village? I should kill that Shaman instead! This is the perfect timing!'
A realization sank into his mind, realizing this might be his chance to kill the Shaman. The situation also helped him.
The Shaman might think he was dead with that one blast, or maybe close to dying. Aside from hurting all over his body, he was generally fine. He could find his way to sneak to the back of the Shaman.
This was his golden chance to get rid of the curse as well. While the curse actually helped him instead of hurting him. The curse pushed him to take more risks, and thanks to that curse, he had gotten stronger.
Of course, there was a chance that he might fail to kill the Shaman. If he failed to kill the Shaman, it would be him who would die. The Shaman would not leave him be, and the Chief would kill him without hesitation just to protect the Shaman.
However, this had reached a point where he must take the risk even if it meant he might lose his life. The Shaman even openly tried to kill him in that fight. He could imagine that the Shaman would get even bolder just to kill him in the future. He must kill the Shaman now if he wants to keep his life.
Compared to the fear of an unknown that he might face outside the village, facing an enemy he knew much better.
Red made up his mind to kill the Shaman. He slowly got back up despite the pain all over his body. He stretched out his hand and legs, trying to ensure that everything was still fine.
He made up his mind and started to walk behind the building. He got closer to the battlefield and noticed the number of the goblin warriors was dwindling.
The situation had gotten worse than he thought. He thought the tide would favor them after he helped them kill a few dire wolves. The dire wolf was no longer his concern. His top priority was to kill the Shaman.
Red was looking for a weapon as he lost his slingshot and dagger when he was blasted by the Shaman. He found the spear and a curved blade not far from him.
Red picked both of them as he snuck his way to the back of the goblin warrior. He identified the building where the Shaman was. There were not many two-floor houses in the village after all.
He finally made his way toward the two-floor house without being noticed. Maybe not just the Shaman, even the hobs and the goblin warriors seemed to think he was dead since they were no longer expecting his ambush anymore.
He entered the building and saw a few dead bodies. He recognized two of them because of the marget fur. The two matriarchs had their heads eaten.
Red didn't bother to check the other bodies as he made his way to the stairs. He made sure not to make a noise, afraid the Shaman would notice him. There were two rooms on the second floor. He knew which room the Shaman was in.
He hid behind the door, holding his spear tightly as he took a peek inside. The Shaman was hiding behind the window, trying to peek outside. He could see the Shaman's old body was trembling, and his breathing ragged.
It seemed the magic took a toll on the Shaman's body, which helped him.
Red didn't immediately rush into the room to kill the Shaman. He was thinking if he was strong enough to kill that old Shaman. He had gotten much stronger for someone at his age, but the Shaman was old. He believed the Shaman might be over level 20.
'What if my ambush is not enough to kill that Shaman?'
He remembered how the Shaman healed the goblin from the other tribes. The Shaman had a powerful offensive magic that almost killed him, also had healing magic, and there was a chance the Shaman might have protection magic.
Red knew that he must take down Shaman in one strike, or else he might die in Shaman's hand, but how? That was when a skill came up in his head, Infernal Berserker.
The skill would increase his stats by ten times for sixty seconds. That meant he got ten times stronger, and that would increase his chance to kill the Shaman. He must kill the Shaman in sixty seconds, or else his health would drop to one, and a single touch would kill him.
'There's no time to hesitate! I have to kill him now!'
Red used Infernal Berserker. He could feel the overflowing strength; his muscles bulged, veins popped out on his skin, and his eyes turned completely red. The pain in his body disappeared as he felt like his body was rejuvenated. But he knew this was just temporary, and he must act quick.
He stood up and threw the spear toward the Shaman. The spear went with a whoosh as he also ran to follow the spear.
The Shaman seemed to notice his steps and turned around. The moment the Shaman turned around, the spear reached the old goblin.
Red thought that the spear would kill the Shaman as he aimed right at the head. To his surprise, the spear hit an invisible barrier when it was just a few centimeters from the Shaman's head. The barrier broke apart as the spear bounced off.
