The shock was apparent on the Shaman's face when he saw Red. The old goblin might be surprised because he was still alive, or maybe the old goblin was shocked because the barrier broke apart. Whatever it was, he was not going to pass this golden chance.
Red was glad that he rushed over when he threw the spear instead of believing his spear would be enough to kill the old goblin. The early rush helped him to close the distance, and he immediately leaped toward the Shaman.
There was only one thing on his mind, and it was to kill the Shaman. He was prepared to take a hit from the Shaman's magic. It was either he died today, or he killed the Shaman.
Fortunately for Red, the Shaman had not recovered from the shock, as the old goblin stayed still when the big red goblin was above him.
He easily pushed the old goblin as he barely felt any resistance, and he drove the curved blade into the Shaman's chest. There was no more barrier protecting the Shaman as the blade entered the chest.
Red didn't stop with one stab; he repeatedly stabbed the old goblin. He didn't know how many times he repeated the same motions over time for a while. And for the last stab, the blade pierced through the Shaman's head. That was to ensure that the old goblin was dead for sure.
His breathing was calm, maybe because of his skill, Infernal Berserk. He looked down, and the Shaman was lying in the pool of his own blood.
Red stood up and looked out of the window. He didn't remember the fight was in their favor. It seemed the Shaman shot a few magics before getting attacked by him. That might be the reason why the Shaman could not shoot another magic weapon again.
Even though he killed the threat to his life, the crisis still loomed over the village and him. There was still the Dire Wolf's issue. Then the fact that he killed Shaman. No one could find out about this, or it was the same as death.
He could kill the Shaman by ambushing the old goblin, but it would never work against the Chief. The Shaman was physically weak. It was proven by how easily he pushed the old goblin down.
The Chief was on another level, especially in terms of physical prowess. He once saw the Chief easily overpowered five hobs at the same time in the training ground. The ambush he used against the Shaman would not work against the Chief.
'Or maybe it will work if I use Infernal Berserk?'
Red quickly threw that idea out of his mind. Why would he want to kill the Chief? He killed the Shaman because the old goblin repeatedly tried to kill him.
The Chief didn't mind him, or to be more exact, the Chief didn't care that he was superstitious about him being different and might bring disaster to the tribe. There was no reason for him to go for the Chief. As long as he could get rid of the Shaman's body and leave no trace that the Shaman's death was linked to him, then the Chief would not go for him for no reason.
'But how do I get rid of the body?'
The first thought that came to his mind was to throw the body away into the forest somewhere. But he quickly threw the idea away.
First, it was still possible that he might be linked to the Shaman's death if the village found the body. There was still a trace of the body that existed. Especially with wounds on the Shaman's body. The Chief would instantly find out that the Shaman was killed by a weapon, not the beast.
Second, the tribe was still in crisis; he needed to help them while his Infernal Berserk was still active. Once the Infernal Berserk went off, he would leave with just one health. A single scratch from the dire wolf might kill him if he joined the fight after the skill expired.
Then an idea came to his mind, the best one. He didn't know if it would work against the Shaman, but it was worth a try.
He directed his right hand at the dead body and muttered.
"Loot!"
He didn't expect much when the idea came into his mind. It was a great idea, but he expected it to not work. To his surprise, the dead body dispersed into blue particles.
He was surprised by the method as it was working, but what even surprised him even more was the loot given by the Shaman: ten Magic Cores, a skill scroll, and a book. There was no coin, not that he cared about those coins, since he didn't know the use of the coin.
Red snapped when he heard a howl, realizing that his village hadn't avoided a crisis yet. He had solved the dead body problem. No one could trace the Shaman's death to him anymore. With no body, the Chief might assume the Shaman fled, not killed.
He quickly grabbed the skills scroll afterward and learned the skill.
[Do you want to learn Fireball?]
[You have learned the Fireball spell!]
He didn't have time to check the skill as he picked up the book afterward. This time, he checked the book first before learning it. A book was a better version of the skill scroll as it contained three skills.
[Book of Manasmith 2]
[Do you want to learn Book of Manasmith 2?]
[You have learned a skill, Mana Tempering!]
[You have learned a skill, Mana Sharpening!]
[You have learned a skill, Mana Repairing!]
He got the latter part of the Book of Manasmith. He didn't know what this Manasmith was about since he didn't have the time to really explore and experiment with his new skills. Even now, he didn't have the time to check what those skills did.
Red waved his hand to get rid of the notifications. Then he absorbed all the magic cores without checking his progression. By the end of it, he had around 40-ish seconds for Infernal Berserk and needed to help his village while the skill was active.
