As Akilah and Ethan sat together on the bench, watching the stars twinkle in the sky, Akilah couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Something didn't feel right. She tried to brush it off as paranoia, but the feeling persisted.
Ethan seemed to sense her unease, and he turned to her with a concerned expression. "What's wrong, Akilah?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
Akilah hesitated, not wanting to ruin the perfect moment. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. "I just feel like something's wrong," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ethan's expression changed, and he looked around nervously. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.
Akilah's heart skipped a beat as she saw a figure emerging from the shadows. It was a woman, tall and slender, with piercing green eyes.
"Who's that?" Akilah asked, her voice trembling.
Ethan's expression turned cold, and he stood up, his eyes fixed on the woman. "That's my ex-wife, Victoria," he said, his voice dripping with venom.
Akilah's eyes widened in shock. Ex-wife? She didn't know Ethan was married before.
Victoria approached them, a sly smile spreading across her face. "Well, well, well," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "Look at you, Ethan. You've moved on to a new victim, I see."
Akilah's heart sank as she realized that Victoria was talking about her. She felt a wave of fear wash over her, and she stood up, her eyes fixed on Victoria.
"What do you want, Victoria?" Ethan asked, his voice cold and hard.
Victoria's smile grew wider. "I want what's mine," she said, her eyes fixed on Akilah. "And I always get what I want."
As Victoria spoke, Akilah felt a chill run down her spine. She knew that she was in danger, and she didn't know how to escape.
Akilah's heart was racing as Victoria's words hung in the air. She could feel the tension between Ethan and Victoria, and she knew that she had to get out of there.
"I'm leaving," Akilah said, her voice firm, trying to mask the fear that was creeping in.
Ethan's eyes snapped to hers, and he reached out to grab her arm. "Akilah, wait," he said, his voice urgent.
But Akilah was already backing away, her eyes fixed on Victoria. "No, I think I've heard enough," she said, her voice shaking.
Victoria's smile grew wider as Akilah turned to leave. "You're just like all the others, Ethan," Victoria said, her voice dripping with venom. "You think you can just move on and forget about me? I'll never let you go."
Ethan's face was white with anger, and he took a step towards Victoria. "Leave her alone, Victoria," he growled.
But Akilah didn't wait to see what would happen next. She turned and ran, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to get away from there.
As she ran, Akilah's mind was racing. Who was Victoria? What did she want? And what was Ethan's past that he had never told her about?
Akilah didn't stop running until she was back at her apartment, safe behind locked doors. She leaned against the door, trying to catch her breath, her heart still racing from the encounter.
What had she just gotten herself into?
