The elevator took them straight to the third floor. The door automatically opened as they arrived.
"This way," Ji Woo said as he walked into the hallway. They passed rooms 310, 312, and so on, until they got to 316.
"This is my room," Ji Woo said, his eyes glistening as he pointed to his door.
The door pushed open, revealing Mi Young in a large white top, his hair ruffled and a confused look on his face. "So you know your way back home?" he said sarcastically.
"What do you mean?" Ji Woo scratched his neck nervously.
Mi Young shook his head, only to notice Soo Jin. "What's he doing here?" he shouted, sounding both scared and perplexed.
"Don't tell me he's going to be our roommate."
"No," Ji Woo shook his head.
"Phew," Mi Young sighed in relief. He wasn't sure he could control himself from strangling Soo Jin.
"He's our neighbor."
"Neigh… neighbor?" Mi Young asked, shock written on his face.
"Yes," Ji Woo nodded.
Mi Young couldn't stand the excitement on Ji Woo's face as he turned and went back into his room.
Bang!
The door closed shut with a bang.
"So the two of you are roommates?" Soo Jin asked, stating the obvious.
"So they really are close," he said to himself.
"Yeah," Ji Woo nodded. "Don't mind his tantrum. Let's check out your room."
They both took a step toward room 317.
Knock.
Ji Woo's knuckles hit the door with a bang.
"Open the door!" he shouted with familiarity.
"I'm coming," a voice sounded from inside. Within a few seconds, the door opened, revealing a fair, tall, slender guy, his hair tousled as if he had just run his fingers through it. His uniform was half-tucked, giving him a charming and nonchalant appearance as he gazed down at the both of them with curiosity.
Ji Woo, the mouthpiece for Soo Jin, didn't say anything as he stared at the guy in front of him, entranced. He's gorgeous, he thought.
Soo Jin, who was expecting Ji Woo to do the introduction, looked over only to see him giving an admiring look to the guy in front of them.
"So fickle," Soo Jin cursed. "Ji Woo," he called, his voice cold.
"Ah, I'm sorry," Ji Woo snapped out of it, embarrassed.
"You have a new roommate," Ji Woo said. "His name is Soo Jin. What's yours?"
The tall guy blinked, taking his time to assess Soo Jin and Ji Woo. A tiny smile slipped onto his lips—not a friendly one, but an intrigued smile.
"My name is Min Jae," he finally said calmly. "You're Soo Jin?" he asked.
"Yes," Soo Jin nodded.
Min Jae stepped aside politely. "You can enter."
Ji Woo was the first to enter, as if he owned the place.
Soo Jin followed after him, rolling his eyes at his antics.
The room smelled mildly of mint. One side was occupied, with neatly folded textbooks on the desk, a perfectly arranged bed, and a window. Everything was neat and clean.
Soo Jin nodded—exactly what he liked.
The opposite side was untouched, ready for Soo Jin.
Ji Woo nodded, a little jealous. "This room is bigger than mine and Mi Young's room."
Min Jae shrugged, flashing a bright smile.
"Your smile is nice," Ji Woo praised. Realizing what he had said, he scratched his neck, embarrassed.
Soo Jin rolled his eyes.
Min Jae noticed, glanced at Ji Woo, then back at Soo Jin.
"So, you just transferred in today?" he asked.
"Mm," Soo Jin hummed.
"He said yes," Ji Woo quickly interpreted Soo Jin's hum, not wanting his roommate to think he was arrogant.
Min Jae nodded. "You both seem close for people who just met today," he commented.
Ji Woo's eyes lit up. "Well…"
"No," Soo Jin cut in. "We're not close."
Ji Woo's eyes widened dramatically. "Why are you like this?"
Soo Jin shook his head. "It's time for you to take your leave. I can handle myself," he said, pulling Ji Woo's arm toward the door. He pushed him out gently and shut the door.
"Soo Jin!" Ji Woo called. "I never knew you were the type to use and dump people."
Bang!
Soo Jin's head ached at the noise of Ji Woo banging on the door. "Stop that or I'll beat you to a pulp," he warned.
The moment the threat came out, Ji Woo instantly stopped.
"I'm not scared, I just don't want to fight with you," Ji Woo said. With a sad face, he went back to his room.
Knock.
"Open the door, Mi Young!" Ji Woo shouted as he knocked.
The door was pulled open, revealing Mi Young, who had an enraged look on his face.
Ji Woo shivered but still found the confidence to try to walk into the room.
"Where do you think you're going?" Mi Young asked, using his whole body to block the entry.
"Inside," Ji Woo pointed into the room, his finger shaking.
"Inside where? I thought you planned on sleeping with your new found replacement," Mi Young raised a brow, taunting him.
"What do you mean by 'sleeping'? I'm not that kind of person."
Mi Young gave him a look. "Are you playing with me? I guess you're not ready to come in. Sleep outside."
"I'm sorry," Ji Woo's face suddenly turned sad as he looked at Mi Young. "I shouldn't have left you for Soo Jin. Nobody can ever replace you."
Mi Young looked at Ji Woo's expression; at one glance he could tell he was pretending. But what could he do?
Nothing.
"Get in."
Ji Woo looked at the space left for him to pass and hesitated.
"Are you coming in, or should I lock you out?"
With a sigh, he walked in.
Before he could step in fully, his ear was grabbed and twisted.
Mi Young made sure to twist his ear until he was satisfied, but not enough to seriously hurt him.
Ji Woo's eyes reddened as he sat on the bed, arms folded.
"Are you still angry?" Mi Young asked with a smile and satisfaction on his face.
