Although Carabella initially wanted to scold her employer for already planning revenge on her, the sweet words she'd just spoken made her cheeks feel warm. In her entire life, she'd never received such praise from anyone. Even Flint had always told her she needed to be strong to face any challenges so as not to appear weak. Unlike Jefferson, who, when he complimented her, immediately offered sweet words.
However, that didn't mean she was immediately carried away. Their relationship was merely that of assistant and boss; she didn't want it to go any further. Moreover, Jefferson was about to marry the woman he loved. She couldn't afford to be the third party that ruined their relationship.
"By the way, thank you for all the gifts you gave me today. I'll definitely be wearing them at work tomorrow."
Jefferson smiled casually, turning in his chair. "So, you're not going to yell at me anymore?"
"I'm still going to scold you for being so rude earlier! You asked Larissa out while we were shopping. Don't you want her to be jealous?"
"In fact, I called her on purpose because I wanted to test you."
Her right eyebrow raised. "What do you mean?"
"I'm actually curious. How did you manage to handle Larissa so well? Didn't you sign a contract stating you wouldn't lose to her?"
"But, actually, I felt awkward with her earlier. What if she tries to take revenge on me? Haven't you thought about that?"
A sly smile spread across his handsome face. "Wouldn't it be a good thing for you to become a smart woman like her?"
Her hands clenched tightly. More and more, she felt like Jefferson was toying with her. She had suspected that those sweet words were just to comfort her.
"Haven't you ever thought about me? How does it feel to be looked down upon by someone better than me? When I was talking to her earlier, she insulted me. She said I wouldn't be able to work with you."
"What was the reason that made her dare to say something like that to you?"
"Because I didn't go to college and only graduated from high school."
Instead of being annoyed, Jefferson laughed awkwardly, still remembering the two women arguing earlier. He knew their argument was simply about their educational backgrounds. He initially thought Carabella would cry from the insult, but she showed no signs of fear.
"But you handled it well earlier. I heard your argument from start to finish."
Her cheeks reddened again, imagining Jefferson silently laughing at her for her nonsensical remarks. She immediately lowered her head and clutched her pajamas.
"It must be very embarrassing."
"No, in fact, I'm even more proud of you," Jefferson said with a look full of love that made Carabella unable to stop her heart from beating faster.
Carabella flipped her shirt collar nimbly as she glanced around the study. Meanwhile, Jefferson smiled happily as his woman began to reveal her perfect side in his eyes.
"I told you earlier. Today you succeeded in satisfying me."
"Actually, I was just saying what was on my mind. At first, I thought you'd be angry because I bullied your fiancé."
"Don't worry. I won't scold you. In fact, if you feel uncomfortable, it's only right that you confront him." Jefferson stood up from his chair for a moment, patting on the shoulder. "You should just rest today. You have to work in my office tomorrow."
Having defeated Larissa today, Carabella wanted to celebrate her victory for a moment by simply rolling around on the spacious, soft bed. She continued to talk to herself as she looked around the luxurious guest room.
In fact, the bedroom door wasn't completely closed. There was a small gap that allowed Jefferson to peek in from outside. Looking at the girl, she finally smiled happily, making him smile too, and his heart fluttered slightly.
He decided to wait outside the room for the sweet girl to fall asleep soundly. He waited while leaning against the wall, almost falling asleep himself. When he peeked at her again, she was finally sound asleep.
He slowly entered the room and covered her curvy body with a blanket, covering her neck. He sat down next to her sleeping figure for a moment, pressing his lips to her red ones.
"I loved seeing you smile earlier. You're so beautiful every time you smile," he whispered, gently stroking her head.
Today was Carabella's first day at work. She had never set foot in a high-end office building before. She had always been aware that working in an office wasn't easy, as she had to accompany her boss everywhere and schedule meetings. Furthermore, she had to help communicate with his business partners.
Since today was Carabella's first day on the job as his personal assistant, she decided to wake up early and fulfill her duties as a housekeeper in this luxurious home. As she walked into the kitchen, her nose immediately detected the aroma of spaghetti, making her run. Entering the kitchen, she saw the homeowner cooking spaghetti for her.
"Jefferson, what are you doing?"
Jefferson smiled warmly, carrying two plates of spaghetti into the dining room and setting them on the table. "Can't you see? I'm cooking spaghetti for us."
"In fact, I should be the one cooking for you today."
"It's okay. I happen to be in a good mood today, so I'll cook you some spaghetti as a gift."
"Gift?"
"Because today is your first day working as my personal assistant."

Meanwhile, in another luxurious mansion, the breakfast atmosphere was different from that of the Jefferson residence. Larissa wore a gloomy expression as she ate her breakfast. She hadn't slept well all night, having witnessed an unusual scene unfold in front of her by her fiancé. Was it possible that her fiancé was starting to tire of her? Why did he seem more interested in a woman of lesser stature?
"Larissa, you're unusually moody in the morning," Vilia said, waving her hand in front of her future daughter-in-law.
