"I don't know if it's dumb or just plain courage that she didn't move out of her house—only changing her workplace…" Spider murmured, shaking his head, a crease settling between his brows. "She would have been dead meat if Clement had come for her… her and whoever she is living with…"
"Or maybe she was smart enough to realize that Clement was too arrogant, would think that his influence combined with that of Modred, added to the love of life, would keep her from talking…" Zane replied, one shoulder lifting in a careless shrug, though his eyes remained sharp.
"And she had been right, hadn't she? Her love for life at least? That's one stupid risk as far as I'm concerned."
