"Good…" Zane muttered, hearing the sincerity in Damian's voice, appeased but still tense.
Because as much as Athena was the best doctor he had seen, very versatile, she ran an empire now, and wouldn't have much time on her hands to be on standby 24/7 by Karen's side.
Zane sighed deeply. He owed the woman numerous apologies, so she had to wake up. He would do all in his hands to make sure she wakes up.
"Call more," he finally said into the phone. "Money is not a problem."
"Yes boss. Consider it done."
He snorted faintly and ended the call, hands tightening on the steering wheel until his knuckles blanched. Karen just had to live.
"Please…" he muttered to the air in prayer, to whatever god over the universe was listening. "Just a lucky break for Gianna also. Just one. Let her mother live."
Then he bowed his head briefly to the wheel, breath fogging the leather, before snapping out of the moment when the horn of his car blared suddenly.
