Owen was currently the department head of a subsidiary under the O.A. Group, and in truth, the heir to the O.A. family.
The reason he held this position was that he needed time to train himself, both in business experience and in temperament.
Owen didn't feel there was anything wrong with that arrangement. Today, the CEO was entertaining an important guest, and Owen's task was to take that guest's beloved daughter out for some fun so she would not get bored.
Owen initially thought she was just a lively little girl, but no—she was clearly an adult trying very hard to act like she wasn't. He even suspected this was another test arranged by his father.
Just when it was almost time to return, she suddenly said she wanted a drink. By coincidence, this store was holding a customer-attraction event.
Lily listened to the manager explain the rules, then lifted her chin with complete indifference. "Buy every drink in this store."
The manager's eyes practically sparkled. Owen stepped forward from behind, handed over a black card, and paid without hesitation.
Hearing the ting ting of money coming in, the manager nearly fainted from joy. He immediately ordered an employee to bring out a box of darts and chirped, "Miss, feel free to throw as many times as you like!"
People like this only had momentary interest. They'd play a little and then get bored anyway.
The manager sent Saphen a look of encouragement before stepping aside and flattering the girl nonstop, only shutting up once Lily showed she no longer wanted to hear his voice.
Saphen truly had nothing to say.
He simply stood there, looking straight ahead, not paying much attention.
Sure enough, the girl could not even make a single hole.
Lily grew furious. Her hand was starting to ache, yet the water bag still had not burst. What a scam.
Lily's gaze shifted—and accidentally locked with the eyes of the man standing beneath the bag.
Only his eyes were visible, but right now those eyes curved slightly, as though he was smiling.
What? He dared to laugh at her?
Lily became even angrier.
A bodyguard nearby saw his young miss pouting and offered, "Miss, perhaps I could—"
"Get lost!"
Lily shoved the bodyguard aside and then beckoned sharply at Owen. "You throw the dart for me! You must hit him and get him drenched. If you fail, I'll fire you!"
Owen nearly burst out laughing.
He didn't say anything, though. He simply stepped forward, picked up a dart, looked toward the young man standing under the water bag, then looked up at the bag itself. His deep black eyes seemed to be calculating something.
Owen became so silent and focused that Lily instinctively shut her mouth and stared at the water bag in anticipation.
Saphen raised an eyebrow, while 6677 snickered, [He's acting so mysterious. If he fails to puncture that bag, I'll laugh to death.]
Saphen immediately sensed something was wrong. [Don't underestimate people, especially not with that cursed cat mouth of yours.]
[What could possibly happen…]
6677 hadn't even finished speaking when—
"Boom!"
A loud, explosive sound echoed through the air. The dart struck the very top of the water bag—
And the moment it did, it was as if every "wound" the bag had suffered earlier suddenly activated.
It split open cleanly and violently, and a massive wave of water came crashing down onto Saphen.
So much water, so forceful, that he was soaked through instantly—there wasn't a single dry spot left on him.
Water splashed everywhere. Lily shrieked and immediately ran far away.
Saphen opened his mouth and exhaled sharply, unsure whether he was laughing or furious.
His hair was plastered to his face, his clothes clung tightly to his body, and the icy water was incredibly uncomfortable.
He pushed his hair back with one hand, gave a small laugh, and looked toward the manager.
"I can go now, right?"
The force of the water had tugged one side of his mask down, revealing his entire face to everyone.
Droplets ran along his fair skin, and under the sunlight they sparkled like tiny diamonds.
His hair slicked back, paired with his signature smile, gave him an air both wandering and irresistibly alluring.
The manager nodded blankly.
Saphen had no intention of standing here and becoming a spectacle—he wanted to go inside and change.
The crowd was utterly silent, staring in stunned daze at his retreating back.
Lily recovered first. She jumped forward and grabbed onto Saphen's arm, not caring that she was soaking her expensive dress.
"You! You… you come with me! I have plenty of money, and I can totally support you. You don't need to work here anymore! I can give you everything—luxury cars, designer goods—anything you want!"
Saphen was speechless.
Rich kids these days… so young yet already capable of saying things like that.
He smiled and told her gently, "Sorry, but I'm not planning on committing a crime. You're far too young."
Lily stared at his smile, face flushing red, shaking her head wildly.
"I'm not asking you to do anything! You just need to walk around the house so I can look at you!"
6677 sighed. [So this is the mindset of a sugar mama?!]
Saphen: "…"
Just then, someone stepped forward and pulled Lily away—the very handsome man responsible for drenching Saphen in the first place.
"I apologize on her behalf. Please don't take it to heart."
Owen looked at the young man before him, then took out a business card.
"Here is my card. I'll compensate you—"
Saphen waved him off.
"It's just part of my job. Take her away. Thanks."
Owen clearly hadn't expected to be rejected so directly.
He maintained his polite smile anyway and dragged Lily away.
Lily continued screaming, Owen's face turning dark as he handed her to the bodyguards.
"We're leaving," he said coldly.
Lily was furious.
"How dare you treat me like this?! Let me go—or I'll have my dad fire you!"
Owen ignored her.
He looked out the car window, but the silhouette of the young man had long vanished.
The manager followed behind Saphen with a flattering grin, eyes shining.
"Saphen, goodness, it was just an accident…"
Saphen smiled at him.
"It's my job, Manager. No need to worry."
But the manager wanted something else.
Goodness—he had never imagined Saphen's face would be this impactful.
Calling him a celebrity wasn't an exaggeration.
No—those idol stars didn't even come close to Saphen.
Their store had been thriving thanks to Damian, and now with someone like Saphen, the manager could already see a bright path of promotions ahead.
"Saphen, look at you. With a face like that, why do you keep wearing a mask all day? Just show it."
Saphen replied without a care, "I'm allergic to the air."
Manager: "..." Could he not come up with an excuse that sounded more believable?
The manager went straight for the big move. "Just show your face when you work. I'll double your salary. How about that?"
Saphen stopped walking. He lifted his hand, blocking the manager from following him further. "I think things are wonderful as they are, manager. The changing room is ahead. You should stay outside."
With that, he walked in and shut the door behind him.
The manager stared at the closed door and felt nothing but fury. "Ungrateful brat!"
Saphen acted like he didn't hear a thing.
6677 chimed in with praise: [Excellent, master! You absolutely cannot become famous. If the male lead regains his memories someday and happens to see you online, the whole storyline would collapse! You truly are the most professional!]
Saphen chuckled. He ignored 6677's flattering tone and simply took off his shirt.
At that moment, the door suddenly opened. Thinking the manager had come back, Saphen lifted his head, only to find himself staring at Damian's clueless face.
Saphen didn't react, casually slipping on a clean T-shirt. Seeing Damian still frozen in place, he couldn't help but laugh as he said, "What's wrong? You planning to watch me change my pants too? Damian, you're being awfully bold."
