Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Demon?

"So this is all the so-called 'Beast King' amounts to!"

In the middle of the dark forest, a huge monster lay sprawled pitifully on the damp earth.

Standing on its head in triumph was a man with an arrogant attitude.

The man wore the typical white preacher's robe of the White Devil Cult, but he looked like he was possessed—ferocious scales and armor covered his arms and the side of his face.

Beside him, a group of his followers were showering him with flattery:

"Kuna-sama is seriously amazing, he's taking down the Beast King in just a couple of moves!"

"The Vice-Leader is totally invincible when he transformed into a demon!"

Listening to the endless praise, Kuna let out a booming arrogant laugh, his chest puffed out with pride.

"This is the demonic power we believe in! Just a pathetic monster like this..."

"Human... say one more word and I will kill you."

Just as Kuna was laughing his head off, a cold female voice came from behind him.

It was completely emotionless, but it carried a chill that went straight to the bone.

Kuna instantly stopped laughing, like someone had grabbed his throat and he awkwardly scrambled down from the Beast King's body.

He didn't dare forget who had gifted him this demonic power...

The many followers of the White Devil Cult immediately shut up, lowering their heads to get back to work.

Everyone was shaking with fear, not even daring to glance up at the distant woman.

The stunningly beautiful woman with long, black-purple hair sat on a large rock.

She looked aloof and intensely proud, but also had a scholarly, refined air about her.

She held a thick book in her hands, her beautiful eyes scanning the pages with the calmness of still water.

She wore a sexy, off-shoulder, low-cut outfit that looked ancient, with black patterns etched onto her shoulders and forehead.

Even more noticeable were the two short, thick, brown curved horns growing from the sides of her head.

Such a beautiful, bizarre, and seductive woman provoked this intense level of fear in these crazy White Devil Cult followers—it was a bizarre sight.

After a moment, Kuna finished messing with something inside the unconscious Beast King's body.

He quickly knelt before the woman, not daring to lift his head.

"Demon Lord... we can start the experiment on the Beast King immediately..."

His words hung in the air, met with no reply for a long time.

Kuna started sweating cold bullets, his head nearly buried in the dirt, until he finally heard the woman's clear, cold voice.

"Stories written by humans... just as boring as always..."

The sound of a book hitting the ground made Kuna feel a rush of relief—finally, the lady had spoken!

As a secret subordinate group of the Dark Guild "Tartaros," the White Devil Cult often had powerful members from the guild show up to give Kuna orders.

This woman, he'd heard, was one of the super-powered people in that guild—a real demon.

Kuna only knew her name was—Seilah!

When Kuna first met this demon, he'd been totally captivated by her beauty and, stupidly, looked down on her a little...

But soon after, all his previous subordinates mysteriously committed suicide overnight and he never dared to act reckless again...

Seilah stared blankly at the groveling Kuna before her while muttering to herself.

"A boring experiment... just get it over with quickly."

Kuna nodded furiously, then activated the Magic Power inside the Beast King.

The monster, which had been practically half-dead, suddenly sprang back to life!

The already scary Beast King's eyes inexplicably turned completely blood-red, its aura instantly spiking to an even higher level as it let out a massive roar.

The gigantic monster, the Beast King, had just become even stronger!

Kuna and the others watched the Beast King with excitement, their faces flushed with exhilaration as they yelled enthusiastically.

"Monster corrupted by demon blood, show us your terrifying power!!"

The White Devil Cult followers stared obsessively at the towering Beast King, letting out wave after wave of excited roars.

Seilah watched these pathetic humans coldly, her eyes full of scorn and mockery.

Such low-level humans—what could they possibly achieve by messing with the Beast King using just a little demon blood?

If it weren't for Kyoka's orders, she would never waste her time on these tedious experiments...

At the thought of Kyoka, a faint blush suddenly appeared on Seilah's cold face, though it vanished instantly.

'Wait... Something is approaching this direction... and it was incredibly fast?!'

Seilah's heart skipped a beat as she sensed an enormous, repulsive force surging toward them!

All the shouting instantly stopped.

Even the Beast King's massive body was forced to lean over slightly.

Kuna glared angrily toward the source of the power and roared.

"WHO'S THERE!"

Seilah felt a flicker of interest and shifted her gaze toward the depths of the forest.

Walking slowly toward them was a man in a black robe with gold trim, black hair and crimson eyes.

The lower half of his face was hidden by a mask shaped like a demon's fangs, so you couldn't see his real face.

Still, from the visible top half of his face, you could tell he was extraordinarily good looking...

Ankh's eyes behind the demon mask were icy cold.

A glowing magic circle spun in his palm as he calmly observed everyone present.

Kuna, who'd been so confident moments ago, was furious at the interruption.

Humiliated and enraged, he screamed at his men, "Why are you just standing there?! Go kill that arrogant bastard!"

Following their leader's command, the cultists snapped out of their daze and went back to looking vicious, charging menacingly toward Ankh.

A few smart ones raised their staffs and started drawing magic circles from the back.

However, for a Mage of Ankh's level, these low-level goons weren't even worth fighting properly.

One cultist, who had rushed ahead of the main group, grinned in triumph as he swung a steel blade right at Ankh's neck!

But instead of the expected feeling of cutting through flesh, the blade shattered into pieces the moment it hit Ankh's neck.

Before the man could even feel fear, Ankh's large hand shot out and clamped firmly onto his face.

A terrifying force went through Ankh's fingers, followed by a wretched scream and the sickening sound of shattered flesh and bone.

The man's head exploded in Ankh's grip like a watermelon smashed on the ground.

Splattering blood flew everywhere, hitting the faces of his charging comrades.

The scalding heat of fresh blood shocked the cultists back to reality!

The White Devil Cult's charge came to a sudden halt.

The ones in the front stared in horror at the mangled corpse on the ground, desperately trying to push backward.

Ankh stood alone in front of the enemies, wiping the blood from his hand without any expression.

He hadn't even used Magic for that move!

Nearby, Seilah's eyes narrowed sharply.

For the first time, a trace of actual emotion broke through her usually cold beautiful facade.

She murmured, with a hint of actual delight.

"What an interesting human..."
