Chapter 15 - 4713 & 4714

The Chaos Pearl shattered, turning into smoke and dust that scattered through the void. It looked dead, yet not entirely so. A faint glow appeared in the emptiness, brimming with vigorous life, as if gestating something.

Heaven-Burst Earth-Rend. Within destruction, life was born. This was true breaking in order to stand anew. Lin Moyu released Life Force and drew in vast Primordial-Beginning Qi to hasten its gestation. The Undead Eye stared at the light cluster until a weak soul flame emerged within. He flicked out a point of faint light that fell onto the flame. That ray of light contained all of Chaos Child's memories, personally copied by Chaos Child himself.

For any living being, the belonging of memory is the most important part. Whatever memories one holds determines who they are. The vessel comes second. The newborn soul matched Chaos Child's memories extremely well and smoothly absorbed and fused with them. Under the dual nourishment of Life Force and Primordial-Beginning Qi, the soul flame grew rapidly, its speed pleasing to behold. Knowing Chaos Child was no longer in danger, Lin Moyu stopped paying attention and his consciousness returned to reality.

Heaven-and-Earth punishment continued. Bolts of thunder kept crashing down on him. Heaven-and-Earth was indeed furious and rained down blows regardless of whether they were effective or not. Lin Moyu multitasked, doing several things at once: his own breakthrough, bloodline resonance, and helping Chaos Child die and be reborn to escape this Heaven-and-Earth. He could now break through at any time. The Supreme throne was within arm's reach. Heaven-and-Earth could no longer stop him and instead would be forced to acknowledge him. A Heaven-and-Earth public enemy about to sit on the Supreme throne with Heaven-and-Earth's recognition was truly laughable.

Lin Moyu suddenly chuckled and looked toward the Wine Venerable. "Senior, any interest in becoming a Supreme?" The Wine Venerable was stunned, then shook his head. "I am not worthy." Lin Moyu smiled. "Whether you are worthy is not for it to decide. If you wish to sit, I can push you up there." The Wine Venerable pondered for a few breaths, then still shook his head. "Forget it. My natural talent is what it is. Whether I become a Supreme or not makes no difference." He was already a quasi Supreme. In terms of strength he was not much weaker than a Supreme and was likewise recognized by Heaven-and-Earth. Even if he sat on the throne, it would be little more than a change in title, without much improvement in actual power. He understood his own situation clearly, so it did not matter to him whether he took that position or not. Besides, this Supreme throne was obviously prepared for Lin Moyu. No matter how modest Lin Moyu was, he would not fight him for it.

Lin Moyu smiled. "In that case, we will do as Senior wishes." In truth he himself had hesitated about the Supreme throne. His ultimate goal was to leave Heaven-and-Earth, which was why he had become a Heaven-and-Earth public enemy. If he sat on the Supreme throne and was acknowledged by Heaven-and-Earth, he did not know whether it would cause unforeseen trouble when he tried to leave in the future. Yet this time the strengthening of the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth had backfed power into him and pushed his breakthrough forward, turning not wanting to become a Supreme into something he could no longer refuse.

If the Wine Venerable had agreed to become a Supreme, Lin Moyu could have pushed him up instead. With all the Supreme seats filled, Lin Moyu himself would not need to sit. He might have become a different sort of Supreme, with strength surpassing the Supremes yet unrecognized by Heaven-and-Earth. But that would also introduce unknown variables. Now that the Wine Venerable had refused, Lin Moyu no longer insisted. It seemed this Supreme throne was something he had no choice but to sit on. He decided to take that seat and see how the Heaven-and-Earth rules would handle it, whether they would descend into total chaos. With the Great Calamity already nearing its peak, he would let it grow chaotic as well.

He thought about how Heaven-and-Earth would change after he became a Supreme. Chaos was inevitable, though how far it would go remained unclear. Having decided to sit on the throne, Lin Moyu still was not in a hurry. He took the opportunity to finish another matter.

"With a low shout, Xiaopeng." Golden light flashed and Xiaopeng appeared at his side. Heaven-and-Earth thunder crashed down on him. Xiaopeng reacted quickly, golden light bursting from his body to meet the lightning, but the thunder's power was immense and shattered his golden light by force. "Do not resist," Lin Moyu said. Xiaopeng understood his intent and chose to trust him. "Alright." He withdrew his golden light and allowed the thunder to fall upon him. In an instant, his flesh split open and his body was covered in blood.

"Chaos Child has already gone over. You will follow soon," Lin Moyu said. Long ago, when he helped the little tree detach from Heaven-and-Earth, he had already mentioned this plan and laid out some preparations. At that time, Xiaopeng and Chaos Child had refined out their own memories and handed them to Lin Moyu. The plan might be enacted at any time, and with the precise process unknown they had to prepare in advance. Xiaopeng clenched his teeth. "I leave it to Father." Lin Moyu chuckled. "Do not worry. Nothing will happen."

Under the constant thunderbolts, Xiaopeng's aura grew weaker until it vanished. Xiaopeng died under Heaven-and-Earth punishment. In the instant of his death, his imprint was erased from the Chaotic Primewild. Lin Moyu collected Xiaopeng's corpse into the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth and followed the same process as with Chaos Child. Under Heaven-Burst Earth-Rend, Xiaopeng turned to dust and new life began to gestate. When the soul flame appeared, Lin Moyu delivered Xiaopeng's memories into it. Everything went smoothly. Within the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth, no accident could truly threaten them, and even if one arose, Lin Moyu as the Heaven's master could correct it in time.

From this point on, Xiaopeng and Chaos Child were completely detached from the Chaotic Primewild. Within the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth, they would have much greater futures. In Lin Moyu's plan, the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth would grow incredibly powerful, and its living beings likewise. If they became Supremes there, they would surpass the Supremes of the Chaotic Primewild by far. Their strength was secondary. Most important was that within the Language-God Heaven-and-Earth, they would be safe, no longer needing to worry about being targeted and killed.

Once Xiaopeng's matter was settled, Lin Moyu finally faced the Supreme throne directly. That throne, floating between Heaven-and-Earth, could be claimed by no one but him. He walked forward step by step toward it. The rules of Heaven-and-Earth roared. The entire Heaven-and-Earth howled, the roar turning into boundless thunder that fell like a storm to tear Lin Moyu apart. The Heaven-and-Earth rules did not permit him to become a Supreme, yet themselves were bound to follow rules and could not act arbitrarily. They unleashed the heaviest punishment, but still could not impede him in the slightest.

As he drew closer to the Supreme throne, Lin Moyu narrowed his eyes. "You really have patience. Still not making a move?" He knew that beyond the rules of Heaven-and-Earth there were several others who did not want him to become a Supreme, because that would make him even harder to kill.

A giant eye suddenly appeared, its gaze sweeping across with tangible force. Wherever it passed, vast stretches of void shattered. Dao had descended. The Wine Venerable's expression changed dramatically. He unleashed all his power to shield Tang God Sect, sending out thousands of gourds that intertwined into a giant shield. Dao's gaze swept by and the shield exploded. The Wine Venerable spat blood and was sent flying. Tang God Sect itself, brushed by that gaze, was almost crippled in an instant.

The Sword Emperor, who was still under Heaven-and-Earth punishment, shuddered and immediately turned to flee. Lin Moyu laughed lightly. "Looks like you are the one with the worst patience."

Dao's gaze fell on Lin Moyu. Invisible power crashed down. Lin Moyu let out a muffled groan, his body trembling slightly as the Technique Domain, Ten Directions Realm, and Language-God Heaven-and-Earth all shook together to block the strike for him. Dao's attack was extremely powerful and a single glance could heavily injure a quasi Supreme, yet it still failed to hurt Lin Moyu. He did not use Utmost Undying or any other methods. He wanted to feel Dao's power personally. According to the memories left by the Calamity Supreme, Dao could easily kill a Supreme. That was simply not the same level of power. Lin Moyu's defense far surpassed a Supreme's, so Dao should find it harder to kill him, but how much harder needed to be tested.

This test turned out easier than expected. Dao's first glance failed to heavily injure him. A hint of surprise and anger appeared within the giant eye. With a touch of mockery, Lin Moyu said, "You are not very impressive. Has your injury still not recovered?" Dao was clearly enraged. Golden light burst within the giant eye as an attack sliced through the void and descended suddenly, arriving from another layer of spacetime so quickly that even Dao could not react in time. The giant eye was shattered, breaking apart like a bubble amid a shrill scream.

The Wildshade Broodmother had launched a sneak attack while Dao was gathering power. The effect was excellent. Lin Moyu knew this blow would not gravely injure Dao, but it would make him very uncomfortable. Dao, when descending, had not dared to use his full strength. He still had to guard against the Calamity Supreme and the Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon, especially the latter, his longtime rival over countless years. When Lin Moyu had dragged the Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon out of hiding, Dao had been the angriest. Lin Moyu had fully counted on this and thus let the Wildshade Broodmother strike from the shadows.

In the next instant, a giant eye reappeared in another location and fired brilliant light that turned into a blade slashing toward Lin Moyu. The Wildshade Broodmother struck again, blocking the attack for him. Dao still did not dare to attack at full strength and again gained nothing. The void twisted as countless giant eyes appeared at once. Dao had not given up. He still wanted to prevent Lin Moyu from becoming a Supreme. The countless eyes warped space, abruptly halting Lin Moyu's advance. Across a short distance, countless spatial barriers appeared.

Dao's true form was the Sky-Shrouding Beast, whose greatest ability was controlling space. Under his control, space became full of folds, turning into barrier after barrier, stretching a brief distance into something infinitely far. Lin Moyu had never been in a rush to become a Supreme. He glanced over the countless eyes, locked onto one of them, and said, "Do you know the consequence of this?"

He tapped a finger. The Nine-Heavens Fate Technique activated. Lin Moyu silently altered the rules, forcing Heaven-and-Earth to temporarily recognize him as the Heaven-and-Earth Supreme. Only he could pull off such a feat of deceiving Heaven and Earth. Heaven-and-Earth punishment appeared once more, black clouds manifesting out of nothing. Thunder rolled, forming a sea of lightning. In an instant, countless eyes were struck and shattered.

By tricking the rules into recognizing him as the Supreme, anyone blocking his ascension was now considered to be opposing the rules and naturally received Heaven-and-Earth punishment. This was precisely how Lin Moyu used the rules against Dao. Though this method could only last for a short time, it was enough. Today, the Heaven-and-Earth rules were very busy. The punishments issued might have exceeded those of hundreds of millions of years combined.

"Interesting." Watching the eyes being blasted apart by endless lightning, Lin Moyu laughed happily. He could feel the rules of Heaven-and-Earth becoming utterly chaotic. The entire Heaven-and-Earth seemed on the verge of madness. His repeated interference with the rules had thrown everything into disarray. The Great Calamity, which had been nearing its peak, was also affected, becoming unstable and fluctuating.

In the blink of an eye, only one giant eye remained, the one Lin Moyu had locked onto. The others had been destroyed by the lightning. The punishment suddenly ceased as the rules realized they had been tricked. They quickly corrected themselves and withdrew the punishment, but the lightning that had already fallen could not be taken back. Lin Moyu had already finished what he wanted to do. After all, he was the Heaven-and-Earth public enemy. The punishment on him was already at its limit and could not escalate further. Dao, on the other hand, had been thoroughly disgusted.

Dao was furious. The eyes were only projections, and he did not care if they were shattered. What enraged him was that he had been played. Lin Moyu had actually used Heaven-and-Earth rules against him, even though he himself was supposed to be master of this Heaven-and-Earth. The rules should listen to him.

Within the remaining eye, countless small eyes appeared, followed by the phantom of a giant beast. The beast seemed ready to roar, but before it could, the Wildshade Broodmother's strike pierced spacetime, shattering the last giant eye once more. The Wildshade Broodmother always attacked at the most unexpected moments. Though weaker than Dao in head-on strength, in terms of ambushes even Dao had to concede defeat.

As the eye shattered, the spatial barriers before Lin Moyu broke like glass and space returned to normal. Lin Moyu did not move. Instead he said quietly, "Next. Do not hide. Come out." He looked toward one corner, where a soul flame was concealed. The flame was not blazing, yet its essence was extremely powerful, already beyond the Supreme level.

As his voice fell, a dragon's roar erupted. A purple-black divine dragon tore through the void and pounced toward Lin Moyu. The Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon, having been exposed by him, finally made a move. Originally he had wanted to be the mantis behind the cicada, letting Dao and Lin Moyu fight first while he waited in the dark. He had not expected Lin Moyu to toy with Dao and then call him out directly.

As soon as he moved, the Wildshade Broodmother's attack descended from another spacetime. It struck repeatedly, but the Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon's avatar blocked every blow. His defense was astonishing. From this avatar alone, it was clear that his reputation as number one in those days was well deserved. Without any fancy methods, just with defense second only to the Eternal Desolate Bull and offensive power far surpassing other beings, he could claim first place purely by force. One force breaks ten thousand techniques; even if others had all sorts of strange powers, they were not his match.

The avatar of the Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon, bearing the Wildshade Broodmother's attacks head-on, reached Lin Moyu in an instant and chomped down. Fangs sharper than peak-grade treasures carried terrifying Heaven-and-Earth power. This bite was enough to kill any Supreme and was far stronger than Dao's previous attack. Yet Lin Moyu sensed that the dragon did not intend to kill him, only to stop him from becoming a Supreme.

The Wildshade Broodmother tried to block in front of Lin Moyu, but was easily knocked away and could not get close. Vast power fell upon Lin Moyu, forming a prison that left him no room to escape. After hiding for so many years, merging with Heaven-and-Earth all along, the Primal-Chaos Wild Dragon had clearly achieved impressive results.

Lin Moyu remained unpanicked and calm.

Utmost Undying.
