The next morning, Roman arrived at school earlier than usual. He could not sleep no matter how hard he tried. He woke up that morning intending to go for a morning run first, but instead took off for school.
He wanted to see Eli arrive.
He had been avoiding him too much, and his father was right. He needed to have his priorities straightened out. He could not mess up another command or his father would really find the cause of the problem.
Students started coming in. Marcus came first, his headphones on. Then more students filtered in.
Roman leaned against the railing on the second floor scanning his surroundings quietly. Ten minutes later, he spotted Eli among a crowd of students coming out of a bus.
Eli stepped out of a bus, his backpack strap held in his hand. He was walking with his usual quiet posture.
