Onscreen.
Gilgamesh set out alone to hunt the divine beast Humbaba.
But in the palace, Siduri tried to stop Enkidu.
"You really intend to chase after him?"
She stood before Enkidu, blocking his way.
"I… I want to help. If we defeat the divine beast, the people can be happy again, right?"
Enkidu tilted his head, confused.
"That is a divine beast. Even the king doesn't have absolute certainty. If he said that, he must have his own plan. If you go now, won't you just get in the way?"
Siduri asked again, yet still stepped aside.
"I want to contribute to the people's happiness. And I want to watch him from behind. If he dies, the nation loses its king and the people fall into panic."
Enkidu's reasoning was simple and naive:
The king can't die. If he dies, the country collapses.
During these years, Enkidu had felt how deeply the people trusted and rejoiced in their king.
Even when Gilgamesh seemed to fail them recently, no one truly lost faith.
A king that beloved had to be protected.
With Enkidu's speed, catching up was easy.
When he arrived, he saw Gilgamesh already locked in battle with Humbaba in the vast cedar forest.
The young king stood tiny against the beast.
His shirt was gone, exposing his red-tattooed torso. His trousers were torn. He'd clearly been fighting for a long time.
In his hands was a giant axe almost as tall as he was.
More absurdly, the axe seemed to be a staff capable of casting magecraft.
Humbaba was an ancient beast sleeping in the cedar forest.
No one knew why it awoke, but it had thrown the people into terror.
Hunters who entered the forest had become prey.
"Hmph. It's just a beast—no tactics, only brute force."
Gilgamesh gasped heavily, clearly losing ground, but still refused to admit it.
The comments were moved.
[The king's delicate body.]
[So this is the king's whole body… slurp.]
[He's so cool, but looks so small before that monster.]
[I'm using this as my wallpaper. Too badass.]
[But isn't Little Enkidu being taught by teacher also cool?]
[He's the strongest. Beat it, my king!]
[Historically, Gil and Enkidu beat it together and got a hoard of treasure.]
"King Gilgamesh, I've come to help you."
Golden chains erupted from Enkidu, binding Humbaba in place.
"It's you? Why come? It's just a beast. I can handle it."
Gilgamesh frowned, but his hands didn't stop.
He carved a bloody gash into Humbaba's abdomen.
Roar!
Humbaba howled, unable to move under the chains.
"I want to say you got in my way… but the truth is, you helped. I'll remember this."
"So, the right to decide its life is yours. Kill it, or spare it."
"But next time, I won't hesitate to cut off its head."
Gilgamesh pressed the axe against Humbaba's throat and asked Enkidu.
Bound and terrified, Humbaba whimpered, pleading with Enkidu's eyes.
"She harmed the people… disrupted your rule…"
Enkidu fell silent, wavering.
But Humbaba seized the moment to struggle violently.
Enkidu tightened the chains and said to Gilgamesh,
"Then… kill her."
Crack—
Bones snapped.
Gilgamesh swung down without hesitation.
A head rolled to Enkidu's feet, staining the pure white hem of his clothes.
"I didn't expect your resolve to be so firm. She was half your mother, wasn't she? She taught you to survive in this forest, yet you could still do it."
Gilgamesh clearly knew Enkidu's history.
"Anything that must be abandoned should be abandoned. I was created for the people. If one day you bring suffering, I will take you away without hesitation."
Enkidu drew back the chains, looking straight at Gilgamesh.
"Hahaha! Then I'll hope for that day!"
Gilgamesh laughed and stored all the treasure in the king's vault.
Under the sunset, the two walked back toward Uruk.
Their bond was visibly closer.
Then the final line popped up—
[To be continued…]
The comments detonated.
[I knew this wouldn't end… but cutting it here is insane.]
[Yeah! "The Oldest Godslayer"… where are the gods? I only saw Ishtar.]
[Next episode is the start of god-slaying, right? We'll see adult Gil?]
[I'm shipping Enkidu and Gilgamesh now—they're perfect together.]
[Enkidu can shapeshift, and this form is based on Siduri, so isn't that like…]
[Historically there were rumors about Gil and Enkidu together…]
[Got it. I'm creating now.]
"Hahaha! Not bad. Feels like me back then. The creator doesn't understand history, and I want all their info. I will personally correct them!"
Gilgamesh laughed arrogantly, but his mind was full of questions.
