Chapter 923 - The One Who Watches Everyone

The Veyris Eternal Empire was peaceful.

Across countless worlds…

Civilizations grew.

Children laughed.

Cities flourished.

Races that once fought stood together.

The Imperial Knights protected the weak.

The World Trees watched over life.

The Infinite Library continued recording endless stories.

And above it all…

Kael Veyris watched.

Alone.

At the highest balcony of the Imperial Castle, Kael sat quietly.

No throne.

No ceremony.

No armies.

Just him.

Before him floated countless visions.

A human city celebrating a festival.

A dragon race exploring new worlds.

A young civilization discovering its first stars.

A village rebuilding after hardship.

Kael watched every one.

A small smile appeared.

"They are doing well."

He continued watching.

Another universe.

Another civilization.

Another story.

He never looked away.

Until

"Father?"

Kael stopped.

A familiar voice.

He turned.

Standing behind him was his daughter.

Veyloria Kaelthera Veyris.

She wore her black outfit, her different colored eyes shining softly.

One eye gold.

One eye purple.

The daughter of the Architect stood quietly, looking at him.

Kael smiled.

"Veyloria."

She walked closer.

"You are here again."

Kael looked back toward the countless visions.

"Yes."

She looked at all the worlds he was watching.

For a moment, she said nothing.

Then she asked:

"Father…"

"Why are you always watching everyone else?"

The question was simple.

But Kael became silent.

He had answered countless questions throughout eternity.

Questions about creation.

Questions about power.

Questions about existence.

But this question was different.

Finally, he answered.

"Because I want to make sure everyone is happy."

Veyloria looked at him.

"You check every universe?"

"Yes."

"You protect every civilization?"

"Yes."

"You worry about everyone?"

Kael paused.

Then nodded.

"Yes."

She looked toward the endless stars.

The countless lives.

The infinite stories.

Then she looked back at him.

"But who makes sure you are happy?"

Silence.

The question echoed louder than any battle.

Louder than any cosmic threat.

Louder than any voice from beyond reality.

Kael did not answer.

For the first time in a long time…

The Architect of Existence had no immediate response.

Veyloria sat beside him.

"Father…"

"You always make sure everyone has a home."

"You give people hope."

"You protect their futures."

"But sometimes…"

She looked at him.

"Do you forget that you are also someone?"

Kael looked down.

A being who had existed beyond countless ages.

A being who had created infinite realities.

A being who carried the weight of creation.

Yet his daughter had asked something no enemy ever had.

Not:

"Can you be defeated?"

Not:

"How powerful are you?"

But:

"Are you okay?"

Kael looked toward the Empire.

His Empire.

His family.

His people.

And quietly said:

"I never thought about it."

Veyloria smiled gently.

"Then maybe you should."

Later…

Ignisia found Kael still sitting there.

"You look different."

Kael glanced at her.

"My daughter asked me a question."

Lilith, Nyx, and others gathered nearby.

"What question?"

Kael looked toward the stars.

"She asked who makes sure I am happy."

Nobody spoke.

Because they understood.

For countless ages…

Kael had been the shield.

The protector.

The one who watched over everyone.

But he had rarely allowed anyone to watch over him.

The Universe Tree whispered softly.

"Even the tallest tree needs sunlight."

"Even the strongest guardian needs a place to rest."

Kael looked at Veyloria.

Then at his family.

Then at the endless worlds he protected.

And for the first time…

He did not only see the people who needed him.

He saw the people who cared about him.

A small smile appeared.

"Thank you, Veyloria."

She smiled.

"You're welcome, Father."

And on that day…

The Architect of Existence learned something even infinite knowledge could not teach.

A person does not need to carry everything alone.

Sometimes…

The one who watches over everyone…

Needs someone to watch over him.
