Chapter 13 - Invasion (1)

"Temperature scans show that someone is on this floor."

"Go, go, go..."

Their vanguard crushed the door to the floor fifty-one.

Blackfire roared out of the stairs; they stepped out of the stairways with their blackfires active all the time.

No object was burned by it; blackfire only had a target: the living organisms. All the bacteria in the room had died already.

"Left or right?"

The group leader checked his map: "Right, the elevator and stairs to the upper floors are in that direction."

He checked the temperature scans once more; there was one person still in there, but each floor was at least ten thousand meters, so locating the exact location of the attacks from the outside was impossible.

After a few moments they all had left the stairs, moving toward the elevator of the upper floors.

"To the right should be the..."

"Boss, someone is there..."

At the end of the hallway, a boy was sitting on a chair.

"His chair is made out of blood?"

The blackfire charged toward him, and in such a narrow path he had no way but to retreat. However, he was just sitting there.

Their distance decreased to fifty steps when all the lights on the floor went out.

The sound of two gunshots filled the room; before the team could activate their night vision, the lights were back, but their four-man group on the front had lost their heads.

"Shoot him down."

"Where is he?"

The man had disappeared in the dark.

Their leader only saw something pass by his head; he traced the flying object, but it was too fast, and it crushed anything on its pathway.

"Shielders! Hold the back and front. If anything passes, I will kill you myself."

Someone yelled from the front, "It's a bow! Sit down..." It was too late, as another arrow was shot, crushing many heads on its pathway.

The lights went out again, and silence took over the room; they could hear their own breaths, all too scared to make a sound.

"Welcome to my hell." Ray stood in the middle of the remains of them.

His swords were shining with a red light; it was the first time he was using them. He smiled while commanding the light to return: "I'm gonna enjoy this."

His hands moved for only one aim: to cut throats. Anywhere he went, blood splashed into the air.

Someone on one of the sides was trying to reach the blackfire thrower; a bullet was shot from the tip of Ray's sword. His body took a few steps without his head.

In the hope of saving themselves, they started their fire, but on a narrow pathway, most of them hit their own companies.

"We need reinforcement; there is a high-rank blood user in here." Ray saw someone at the back of everyone talking to a device.

"Fun time is over." He connected his swords together; first they turned into a spear, then a new blade grew from the top.

"Yelena called it Ashbringer." He pointed the scythe toward the few remaining people standing alive; the weapon in his hand turned so hot that his hand was burning, then a burst of green roared out of it, destroying anything in its way until it hit the barrier outside of the tower.

The corpses and those other people had all been vaporized.

"Ashbringer fits."

He heard footsteps from another direction; not wasting a second, he flew toward them. Killing some soldiers was not hard, yet it consumed energy he needed as much as he had for the squad.

He sliced through more and more soldiers; he roamed around the entrance of the stairs, and his figure was dyed with blood.

"Not so fast, kid." A big wave of swords marched toward him.

Ray activated the Ashbringer; the fire burst vaporized the swords, but it was faced by a wall made out of diamond, and it disappeared into thin air.

He saw two people next to each other; one was a girl shorter than him, floating in the air with five swords around her, and the other one was a man that Ray could only describe as a giant. He was at least three meters tall with armor made out of diamond.

"Sword magic and diamond magic." They both perfected each other's weaknesses: a tank and someone to attack from long range.

Ray turned his scythe into two swords once more and charged toward them; the giant started to run too, and with his steps the floor shook.

He dodged two swords and tried to move past the giant, but it was too fast and moved in front of him.

Ray was pretty sure that his swords couldn't cut diamond, but if he reached the girl, it was going to be easier to deal with him.

The swords around the girl all combined with each other and made a gigantic sword. The new sword struck from the side, cutting walls in its way. Ray flew above it, but as soon as Ray reached it, it returned to many smaller swords, all marching toward him.

His wings grew wider as he increased his speed in the air to dodge the swords; if he hadn't trained flying for many months, he would have already died.

The giant hadn't moved, just standing by her side, letting her do her job.

"Let's finish it; I'm bored..." She said while summoning a ring above her head.

"Storm of Swords."

The air around them changed into a tornado mixed with many blades in it; the walls and anything around them were being pulled into the tornado.

Ray had a stupid idea: "That's the only way!"

He held his swords tighter as he flew toward the tornado, deactivating his armor. Its field slowed him down by twenty percent; his eyes shone with killing intent as he entered the tornado.

Blades made many cuts on his body. Ray wanted to scream, but he didn't let the pain slow him down. A blade cut his face above his right eye. He didn't mind it as he flew faster.

"Is he dead?"

"Prob..."

She saw the light of the blade coming for her head; the giant stopped the sword, but he was not fast enough to stop the second sword that was thrown to her chest.

Ashbringer penetrated her heart; she didn't even have time to think about what had happened.

The ring in the air turned into dust, and the tornado stopped.

Ray retreated and escaped to another floor; Ashebringer soon returned to him.

A roar shook the whole tower: "I'm going to crush your skull."

Ray smiled; his body was in bad shape, but he had stopped the blood loss. He whispered to himself, "One down."
