Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Antigen.

A company that works on various biotechnological innovations, drug development, and much more.

Based out of Hungary, it is a private firm that has been making a name for itself rather quickly these days.

However, this is all just a facade.

Underneath all that is a fact that no human would have ever guessed.

The fact that it is actually a company owned by Lycans, designed for the sole purpose of worming its way into every human country on the planet, and when the time is right, expose the existence of Vampires and Lycans to the humans.

All in the name of eradicating their eternal enemies, even at a personal cost, while also finding a way to eradicate their personal weakness.

Of course, not all Lycans agree with this plan, especially Lucian, the current ruler of the Lycan clan, yet the current head of Antigen couldn't care less.

Jacob Lane, the founder and CEO of Antigen, glared at the screens that showed the security recordings from the previous night.

Or rather, the lack of recording from the previous night, as all the cameras were strategically destroyed by someone before they robbed his company.

For a split second, his eyes turned solid cobalt blue, too fast for his human employees to spot, but enough for his son, Quint Lane, to spot the anger in his father's eyes.

"Tell me, Captain Cole, how does someone break through a window on the second floor, melt a thick steel vault door, and destroy every camera in the route from there back to the broken window, without getting caught or alerting your people who were supposed to be guarding my company?"

Captain Cole, the head of security and the leader of Antigen's secret PMC, sweated bullets as he watched the carnage around him, unsure how to answer the question.

The reinforced window that should be able to withstand bullets was melted through, allowing a gap big enough for a person to pass through comfortably, yet there were no sounds to take note of last night or any noise of tools being used.

The Vault door, which is eight inches thick and solid steel, would require high-tech tools to melt through the way they were done, if it were even possible, but his men did not spot anything that resembled said tool or even any abnormal power draw from the company's off-grid electricity system.

And then there were the cameras, which were similarly melted as if they were submerged in lava, which made absolutely no sense.

".....I do not know Dr. Lane-"

"I do not tolerate failure. Cole. I want to know who broke into my facility, and I want them captured. Do you hear me?"

"....Yes, sir."

The Captain left the room, leaving Jacob with his son.

".....Do you think it's the Bloods?"

Jacob shook his head.

"No. This is not the way of the Death Dealers. This is something else."

Jacob's face hardened as a possibility crossed his mind.

Lucian, the current leader of the Lycans, and the first true Lycan from whom the species of today was born.

It was no secret that Lucian and Jacob did not see eye to eye in certain things, especially how they wished to secure the future of their people.

Lucian believed that his lunacy would be the true path for their people, where he would find the descendant of the Corvinus line, one who carries the pure strain of the original virus, with which he would become a hybrid of a Vampire and a Lycan, supposedly giving him the power to defeat the Vampire Elders.

But Jacob believed otherwise.

He believed in a more subtle approach. To appear as a human company, worm his way into the various world governments, and when the time is right, expose both races to the humans.

The fear of the human race would then be focused on defeating these two races, which Jacob would use to his advantage, manipulate things here and there, and finally, gain enough control over the human world to mobilize their military powers, removing the Vampires once and for all from the equation.

This plan would require drastic sacrifices from the Lycans, but Jacob believed that this was a necessary sacrifice for the sake of their future.

And yet, things were already going awry before his plan could truly begin, and the prime suspect was, obviously, the one who protested the most against his plan. Lucian.

"Quint, take all the sensitive data from here, including the hidden files, and relocate them to our bunker. I want everything related to our plan gone from here by the morning."

"Yes, Father."

Watching his son move about, Jacob could not help but feel extremely paranoid.

'Just who was it that knew about this vault's existence outside the company? Nobody should know about what I've hidden here except for my son and the security team- wait! Do I have a mole in my men?'

'Damned humans! Can't even trust these weaklings to hold their tongues!'

A beastial growl escaped his mouth as he thought about how he would punish the humans for this treachery.

Unfortunately for the Lycan, he did not know that the particular human who had done all this was long since gone from the area and was not part of his company in any way, shape, or form.

He also did not know that the secrets stolen from his vault were not a result of deliberate planning but pure coincidence, where said human had accidentally found the vault and given its security, assumed that something important must be in there, and he was right in the end.

And now, said human was going through the juicy data and preparing for the next step of his plan.

—————————————————————-

'Holy shit! This guy is insane!'

I could not help the shock I felt as I read through the data in the files and the thumb drive.

Finding the headquarters of Antigen wasn't really that hard, given that it was a startup and was literally looking to recruit people with its HQ listed as the place of recruitment.

Infiltrating it was the hard part because I had to look for a blind spot in their security, spend hours calculating their security's patrol routes, their shifts, and even map out the insides as much as I could while pretending to be a prospective employee there for an interview.

The biggest problem was that I needed to be quick about things.

Once I melted through the reinforced glass, I was on the clock.

So, I used my lava spit (lame name, I know) to melt all the cameras from a distance, making sure that I would not be caught on them, and then blitzed through the floors, robbing anything and everything that looked interesting.

It was during this that I stumbled upon the vault, which sent my gamer instincts tingling.

So, being the loot goblin I was, I melted the vault door to slag and hit the jackpot.

Research documents, experiment logs, blueprints, architectural plans designed to contain Lycans and Vampires, a detailed plan of what they want to achieve in the future, and a whole lot more.

And now, sitting in my warehouse, reading through this stuff, I cannot help but thank my instincts, because this is some serious stuff.

Experimental logs, which detailed how Lane and his son caught homeless men and women, turned them into Lycans, and then experimented on them.

They show how he performed dissections on them with silver tools while they were still alive and awake, hoping to find the absolute limit of pain and damage a Lycan can take before dying.

They showed how he tried various ways of gene-splicing to remove the weakness to silver from the Lycan bloodline.

Men, women, and children, so many that died on his operating table and experiments.

Attrocities that made Victor, the monstrous vampire elder who killed his own daughter, look like a saint in comparison.

All in the name of supposedly 'advancing' and 'evolving' the Lycans.

Translation: to escape the weakness of silver because he is a cowardly bastard, afraid of death, just like his son.

And all of this is not even taking into consideration the plan he had to expose Vampires and Lycans to humanity, essentially triggering a war on a global scale that would no doubt result in loss of life for countless people from all sides.

'Now that I have this proof in hand. I just need to get them to Lucian and wait for him and Lane to fight it out. Given Lucian's personality that I remember, there is no way he will tolerate the kind of things that this monster is doing.'

'The question is, if he will still have the same personality as in the movie that I remember from the fragments of my old memory, given that this is real life and not some movie. And even if he does, how the hell do I even find him or his clan's hiding place?'

This is a big issue since there is no way for me to find him. I do remember that they were somewhere underground, but Budapest is a very large place, and its underground is just as large, if not larger than the city itself.

It will literally take me months, or maybe even years, to map out the entire place, and by then, it will be too late since the date is September 2003. I barely have a month before the storiline I remember from my old world starts.

At least, I think so. My memory is foggy and fragmented, so I can't fully rely on it.

'Well, looks like it's time to play the friendly neighborhood stalker from now on.'
