Chapter 11 - Children of the Hallow Light — Chapter 11: Echoes of Homelight

Opening Monologue

"Memory is a light, fragile yet stubborn. It can guide you, haunt you, or burn you alive. I carry it all… because I am all that remains."

---

Scene 1 — The Last Light of Homelight

The camera drifts over a golden, shadowed city of Homelight. Small Galabies play in the streets; soft bell-like tones fill the air.

Lullaby's voice (narrating):

"I didn't know what curiosity could cost… or what it would make me see."

He walks through the familiar corridors, passing other young Galabies. His mother approaches, her visor reflecting the pale glow of memory-scrolls.

Mother: "Remember, my child… there's wonder, yes, but there's caution. Curiosity without care… can be dangerous."

They share a quiet moment, mother and child. Lullaby touches her hand, and the camera lingers on their reflections in each other's visor—light flickering, distorted, fragile.

---

Scene 2 — Curiosity Ignites

A soft shimmer appears in the farthest wall, an unexplored crack in the Great Door. Lullaby's eyes glow brighter as he steps closer, ignoring warnings from other children.

The Orb Companion floats near him, quivering, projecting soft alarm tones.

Lullaby: "It's… just a crack. Nothing bad can come from seeing it."

The camera pans to the outside world glimpsed through the crack: shifting light, strange angles, impossible structures hinting at the Beyond. A faint vibration hums beneath it, almost alive.

Mother's voice echoes in his memory:

"Do not go too far… some doors are meant to remain closed."

---

Scene 3 — The Calamity Replays

Suddenly, the world fractures in memory.

The Door shudders.

Golden veins crack.

Shadows of tendrils push through.

Lullaby watches from a safe distance, hidden behind a collapsed wall. His people—his friends, his kin—are being taken one by one.

His mother glances at him one last time, a silent promise in her eyes. Then she is pulled into the dark maw of the Eldritch Hunter, memory cores visible as glowing sparks being absorbed.

The Orb emits frantic chimes.

Lullaby (whispering):

"I… I wasn't fast enough. I… I couldn't save them…"

He runs through the collapsing streets, chased by writhing tendrils of shadow. The camera follows him from above, showing the scale of devastation—the vast Homelight crumbling under a cosmic predator.

---

Scene 4 — Escape and First Steps into the Beyond

Lullaby reaches the cracks he had earlier discovered. Using the Orb to stabilize a falling wall, he slips through and emerges into a vast, alien landscape for the first time.

The camera pans over towering metallic mountains, rivers of black essence, floating platforms of bone and metal—the Beyond. Gravity shifts subtly; light fractures.

Lullaby stands on a cliff overlooking the expanse, panting, tears streaking his visor.

Orb emits a soft, stabilizing glow.

Lullaby (softly, to the Orb):

"We… we'll go through this together. I will find them… all of them. I promise, Mother."

He lifts his visor slightly, golden eyes reflecting the alien horizon.

The music swells—deep, melancholy, but with a glimmer of hope.

---

Scene 5 — Reflections and Resolution

Flashbacks intercut: Lullaby's quiet moments with other young Galabies, the stories they shared, his mother teaching him songs of memory, and his first sparks of curiosity.

Narration (Lullaby):

"Curiosity… fear… hope… all of it is my burden now. But it will also be my guide. The Beyond is vast. It will test me. And I will survive—not just for me… but for all who were lost."

Camera lingers on him standing on the cliff, the wind shifting, light scattering into prisms across the strange horizon.

Fade to black.
