Chapter 14 - Two Worlds, Inside and Outside the City

The Divine Dragon Empire Exchange was only open to citizens of the Empire.

Morintis had access to the Exchange, but his access level was very low, only Level 1.

To gain higher access levels, he needed to increase his Contribution Points. But that was a matter for the future, irrelevant for now.

He briefly scanned the items for sale in the Exchange.

Weapons, armor, jewelry, materials—they had everything.

But each item was expensive. Morintis only had about 100 gold coins on him; he couldn't even afford the cheapest Black Iron-tier weapon.

As for the more expensive Bronze-tier and Silver-tier items, he could only look—they had nothing to do with him.

After memorizing the value of some low-level materials, Morintis began checking the available quests.

The monster levels in the Westsea City outskirts were concentrated between Level 10 and Level 20, classifying it as a low-level area.

The number of related quests wasn't huge, mostly consisting of material gathering tasks.

[Unlimited Purchase: Green Sprout Grass. Purchase Price: 50 Gold Coins per unit.]

[Unlimited Purchase: Black-Furred Wolf Pelt. Purchase Price: 20 Gold Coins per unit.]

[Unlimited Purchase: Beast Bone. Purchase Price: 30 Gold Coins per unit.]

Life class holders like Alchemists, Potion Masters, and Blacksmiths needed vast amounts of materials for skill training.

They would process these materials into useful items and sell them, earning an income. While training their skills, Life class holders could also level up, forming a positive cycle and ensuring decent development prospects even for them.

"Hmm, this quest... seems interesting."

[Conquer the Level 14 Westsea Mine Dungeon. Obtain the Dungeon Boss, Goblin King's Core.]

[Note: The core only drops from the dungeon boss on Nightmare difficulty or higher.]

The quest reward was 100,000 Gold Coins. The fact that such a price was offered clearly indicated the quest's difficulty.

The Westsea Mine was located south of Westsea City, about 50 kilometers away.

Morintis wasn't planning to go. The Level 14 dungeon required a minimum level of 10 to enter, and he wasn't high enough level yet.

Dungeon difficulties were categorized as Normal, Nightmare, and Hell.

Morintis wasn't sure how difficult Nightmare was. According to book descriptions, the Nightmare difficulty was at least several times harder than Normal.

Without a powerful team, it was basically impossible to conquer.

As for Hell difficulty, it wasn't something ordinary class holders could attempt.

After looking for a while, Morintis left the Exchange and headed to the city gate.

"Morintis, Level 7, Necromancer?"

The city gate guard held the exit permit Morintis provided, verifying his information.

Although puzzled about why the school would grant exit permission to someone only Level 7—knowing that monsters outside started from Level 10—the guard processed it.

A 3-level difference was dangerous. But the permit was genuine, and the guard quickly completed the verification.

"Your exit permit is now active. Unless special circumstances arise, you can now freely enter and exit the major cities of our Divine Dragon Empire."

"There are many monsters outside. Be careful, stay safe."

"If things go wrong, run back immediately. Pride isn't as important as your life."

"Especially at night, some monsters specifically ambush under cover of darkness."

The city gate guard kindly advised Morintis.

Morintis gave a slight bow. "Thank you. I'll be careful."

Stepping through the city gate, a cold wind hit his face.

The sky instantly seemed several shades darker, and the air was thick with a oppressive atmosphere.

Inside and outside the city felt like two different worlds.

"This city wall is extraordinary!" A single wall divided two worlds.

Morintis strode forward, quickly disappearing into the wilderness.

The air grew increasingly oppressive, seeming to carry a bloodthirsty scent. Occasional beast roars could be heard in the distance. He occasionally spotted people fighting monsters here. Basically, all was Level 10 or higher.

The city wall behind him was soon out of sight, veiled by a thin layer of mist.

With a thought, a Skeleton Warrior emerged from his Summon Space.

He currently had 28 Skeleton Warriors in total; after recovering his Spirit through meditation last night, he had summoned four more.

Morintis looked at a monster about twenty meters away. "Go, kill that monster ahead."

The Skeleton Warrior immediately ran towards it with its characteristic clatter. Simultaneously, Morintis cast Detection on the monster.

[Goblin Scout]

[Level: 10]

[Strength: 120]

[Agility: 50]

[Spirit: 50]

[Constitution: 120]

[Skills: None]

The Level 10 Goblin Scout had a fierce appearance and wielded a spiked club.

This monster was Strength-focused, with pitifully low Agility and Spirit. Its Constitution was decent, indicating toughness.

But these attributes were utterly insignificant compared to the Skeleton Warrior's 750 in all four core stats.

The primary monsters in this area were the Goblin tribes. They occupied a vast territory, stretching all the way to the Westsea Mine 50 kilometers away, all belonging to the Goblin tribes' domain.

In the blink of an eye, the Skeleton Warrior charged up to the Goblin. The Goblin noticed the Skeleton Warrior and attacked first, its spiked club whistling through the air as it swung down.

The Skeleton Warrior didn't dodge or evade. The club struck it directly with a loud thump. The Goblin Scout possessed significant strength, causing even the Skeleton Warrior to stagger slightly.

But that was all. The Skeleton Warrior had already raised its rusty greatsword and swung back.
