The date was July 15th, Konoha's 47th year. Half a month had passed since this year's Chunin Exams. Kurenai's team of three had all advanced to the third and final round of the exams. The number of those eliminated was so high that only six teams, totaling eighteen people, made it to the third round. Therefore, there was no preliminary round like the one Naruto and his peers would later experience!
Kakashi had spent the last few days recovering. Thanks to Rin's attentive care, his injuries healed quickly!
One day, Kakashi unexpectedly found someone from his clan looking for him!
"Kurenai! You're looking for me?"
Kakashi looked at the beautiful Kurenai standing before him and couldn't help but steal a few extra glances. He then asked her a question.
Kurenai, dressed in a crimson dress, looked incredibly beautiful. At her young age, her figure was just beginning to fill out, her curves accentuated by the dress.
Her expression was a mix of slight shyness and excitement, making her very appealing!
"Senior Kakashi, do you have any missions today?"
Kurenai asked Kakashi nervously, her slender hands twisting the hem of her clothes in front of her. She looked utterly adorable!
"Hmm, I don't think so. What's up?"
Kakashi asked again, puzzled. Danzo had given him a few days off because of his injury, and it hadn't ended yet. He didn't have any missions!
However, if there was an urgent mission, Kakashi, as a member of the Anbu, would be immediately dispatched!
"Ah, that's great!"
Kurenai exclaimed happily, then realized she shouldn't be so excited in front of Kakashi. She continued, a little timidly, "Then, Senior Kakashi, could I ask you to guide me in my training? Just for one day!"
Kurenai had chosen to seek out Kakashi today because she knew Rin had left the village to carry out a mission.
"For the official Chunin Exams next month?"
Kakashi understood then, and said to Kurenai, a look of surprise flashing in his eyes. He hadn't expected Kurenai to come to him for advice!
After all, Kurenai was a year older than Kakashi. She wouldn't normally seek him out for help!
Kakashi had no idea that Kurenai considered him her greatest idol, and didn't care about his age at all!
"Yes, can I? Senior Kakashi!"
Kurenai nodded, her eyes filled with hope as she looked at Kakashi. Her hands once again clutched at the corners of her clothes, showing her nervousness!
"Of course you can. But Kurenai, you excel in Genjutsu. You should be better than me in that area. I wouldn't even be able to teach you!"
Kakashi, seeing Kurenai's hopeful eyes, couldn't bear to refuse her, and he hadn't wanted to refuse in the first place. But he still voiced his thoughts.
"It doesn't matter, Senior Kakashi. I'm not here to ask you about Genjutsu. I want to ask you about Taijutsu!"
Hearing Kakashi's words, Kurenai quickly said, not wanting to be rejected by Kakashi because of this. Moreover, she didn't actually want Kakashi to guide her in the practice of Genjutsu. She was already very confident in her use of Genjutsu. However, she had always focused on Genjutsu training and neglected the improvement of her Taijutsu. Thus, Kurenai wanted to improve her Taijutsu, and somehow, she thought of looking for Kakashi. She even waited specifically for Rin to leave the village on a mission before seeking out Kakashi!
Perhaps, subconsciously, Kurenai also didn't want Rin to know she was looking for Kakashi, to be in contact with Kakashi!
"Alright, then there's no problem!"
Kakashi smiled slightly upon hearing this!
"Yes! Thank you, Kakashi-senpai!"
Kurenai immediately said excitedly!
"Kurenai, you can call me Kakashi just like Rin does. Calling me senpai makes me feel old!"
Hearing Kurenai keep calling him senpai, Kakashi felt awkward, so he said to her!
"Can... can I?"
Kurenai's pretty face couldn't help but freeze upon hearing this, and she spoke hesitantly!
"Of course, do I look old?"
Kakashi said speechlessly!
"Okay, Kakashi!"
Kurenai felt that this was indeed the case, having always called him Kakashi-senpai, as if she was making Kakashi sound old. She immediately changed her words!
"Well, if you want to practice Taijutsu, I'll take you to my clan's training ground!"
Kakashi nodded in satisfaction, speaking to Kurenai!
"Ah! Okay, thank you Kakashi!"
Kurenai exclaimed in surprise, then quickly nodded in excitement, her heart filled with joy. She hadn't expected Kakashi to agree to take her to the Hatake Clan's training grounds. It was such a surprise, so exciting. Choosing to come to Kakashi was definitely the right decision!
Not only could she get close to her idol, but she could also go to the place where he trained!
Kakashi just nodded, then led the way, flashing towards Hokage Rock. Kurenai hurriedly followed behind!
Once they arrived, Kurenai was as mesmerized by the scenery as Rin had been before. At the same time, she watched the training equipment around them. Seeing the extent of the damage to those facilities, she could imagine how hard Kakashi usually trained. No wonder he became a Jonin at age twelve. Besides having monstrous talent, he also had powerful effort!
"Kurenai! You want to train Taijutsu, precisely to deal with your enemies in the third exam, right? Practicing your reactions and combat skills in Taijutsu will prevent it from becoming a hindrance to you!"
Kakashi didn't look at what Kurenai was paying attention to, but instead asked her thoughtfully!
After all, the practice of Taijutsu isn't something that can be mastered in a day or two!
"Yes! That's right…"
Kurenai immediately nodded upon hearing that, her admiration for Kakashi growing even more. She hadn't expected Kakashi to guess it!
"Real combat is the best way to train!"
"How about this, I'll attack you using Taijutsu at the Chunin level. You just need to learn to adapt during the fight. You don't necessarily have to avoid using Genjutsu in actual combat either, since that's your strength. You can also use Genjutsu to attack when you have the chance!"
Hearing Kurenai's confirmation, Kakashi finally looked up at her. Since he had agreed to guide Kurenai, Kakashi didn't intend to be perfunctory, and had already thought of everything for her!
"Yes!"
Kurenai could only nod in gratitude upon hearing that. She hadn't expected Kakashi to have considered everything!
It seemed that having Kakashi guide her training was absolutely the right choice!
