Chapter 8 - Her Fate

Inside the luxurious palace, Narlie watched Damien's every move with terrifying caution…

The Imperial Palace was lined up with maid servants, bodyguards and probably, Damien's family members.

And the way they glared at her made Narlie so uncomfortable. The man whom she thought she married walked briskly to the sofa and crashed into it and he turned his gaze towards the newly wedded wife.

And then with a nonchalant attitude, he said. "Mom, please handle her."

Narlie immediately turned towards Constance and… the expression on her face wasn't exactly what she had expected to see.

Constance was looking so cold, gruff and arrogant…displaying the full qualities that makes her the devil alpha's mother.

Her once charming smile was gone, almost like Narlie had imagined it.

She crossed the distance between her and Narlie in an instant and pulled Narlie on the shoulder like one would do to a criminal or a slave.

"Come with me…" Her hands pushed Narlie from behind, urging her to move.

Speechless, Narlie took two steps forward and stopped, refusing to be pushed like a thief.

When the woman saw her stubbornness, she unleashed a terrifying pressure that caused Narlie's chin to tremble.

Narlie turned to Damien for support, but her so-called husband and mate wasn't looking, he wasn't interested in her course… probably thinking of bringing in more ladies as slaves.

Narlie's jaws clenched tight. She did not take any action knowing how easy it would be for Damien to kill her.

Constance finally had her under control as they walked past several corridors until Narlie decided to ask.

"What is going on mother?"

The woman froze for a while but her countenance did not change once, not once did her expression flicker, she strongly stuck to her icy nature.

Narlie suddenly stopped walking, making the woman stop. "What is going on, mother?"

She immediately said coldly. "You and Damien are not in any way married so do not think about it."

"But we were all present for the same reason, my marriage arrangement? Isn't that so?" Narlie asked and the woman's jaws clicked.

"Don't forget that in every arranged marriage, the bride and groom are supposed to breathe the same space of air unless it doesn't count as marriage. Damien didn't enter your home, neither did you two breath in the same space during the acceptance ceremony. Your stupid father and step-mother was too foolish to realise. They were blinded by greed."

Narlie's mood sank… everything now makes complete sense. It was true that Narlie had been thoroughly suppressed since childhood which is why she did not know about the rules of marriage plus… her own father didn't bother to explain to her… now her ignorance is being manipulated.

"Now be a good girl and obey whatever instructions you get."

Narlie still didn't believe that she and Damien weren't married…

"Then if I am not married, what am I doing here?"

The woman who had resumed walking stopped again and then said coldly. "You are a slave. This is your fate."

All colour suddenly drained from Narlie's face realising the severity of the situation.

'A slave?'

Narlie suddenly realised how badly she wanted to talk to Damien…

"I want to talk to Damien."

Constance paused and with a cold expression on her face, she raised her hands and slapped Narlie across the cheek. The force pushed Narlie back who was taken unaware.

"He is your master, you dare not call him by his name."
