Chapter 9 - Striking a Deal

Narlie was angry, her temper rising, her shoulders trembling as she clutched her cheeks that had been slapped.

'No, this is disrespect and I won't allow them to disrespect me.'

And yet, her tongue was caught in her throat… Thoroughly suppressed from day one, she couldn't say anything back to defend her course.

And the woman yanked her by the collar until they were facing a bronze coloured door.

Constance knocked on the door, not too harshly and not relaxed either.

The door was pushed open and this lazy, drop-dead gorgeous young man appeared to Narlie's view.

He had dark circles under his eyes, like he couldn't get enough sleep in the last two weeks and Constance's tone softened as she spoke.

"Samson dear, have you been up late again? Urgh, I warned you that partying is not for the weak…look at you."

The gorgeous man tilted his head in Narlie's direction…

"Who is she?" He asked, ignoring that his mother had indirectly called him weak and in front of a beautiful woman at that.

Constance countenance finally shifted as she pushed Narlie forward…

"Remember how you said that you'd need a servant, she'll be serving you from now on."

She pushed her again and Narlie crashed to her knees then with a smile that didn't reach her eyes, she said. "Don't treat her nice."

And she left this man with Narlie like she had been left bare to a ravenous tiger.

"Did my brother lure you with marriage?"

Narlie did not dare look at his face, as she slowly schemed her escape.

"He is supposed to be my husband. I couldn't be any less disappointed in him. Now I'm brought in to serve."

Samson stared at her for a moment and he crouched down to her level, his finger touching her chin and making her look into his emerald green eyes.

"Look at me…"

Narlie did not dare… who knows whether he would see through her plans of escaping on a whim.

"Look at me…" He demanded and Narlie finally looked.

"Do you want to escape?"

Narlie's eyes immediately flew wide in shock.

Why would he even ask such a question?

'Could it be…'

'He's definitely trying to test me.'

Samson read through her reluctance and seeing it, he made it much easier.

"I'll help you escape… but you'll serve me for one month so that no one finds it suspicious. My brother is very terrifying. You do not want to get onto his bad side."

Narlie shivered.

She remembered that night very clearly that her bones trembled… those rogue vampires were being reduced to meat paste at a simple flicker of his finger.

It was very easy for him.

Narlie finally looked at him with confidence in her eyes. "One month…"

Something bright flickered in those emerald irises.

"It's a deal."
