Not long after William left , the angel following their group showed herself. "The silly mortal forgot his rewards" she muttered to herself as she waved her hands two orbs and a scroll flew towards her from the tiger's corpse. "This old lady will help you once more," she snorted as she disappeared.
William after moving a few meters away from the battlefield found some of their group members hiding. "Mrs Smith what happened to everyone else" William asked with a frown as he looked at a female teacher that he had rescued earlier.
"Everyone?… we all ran in different directions after that student got cut in half, we decided to wait and hide here on the path to the cafeteria" the teacher replied with a bitter smile.
This teacher's name was Mrs Adeline smith and she was a teacher of William's department so she knew him and Adam quite well.
Her personality was quite kind in nature and in the past, she had treated William quite well despite his cold and indifferent attitude.
"I see." William nodded uncaringly as he looked at the twelve people who were hiding
"Let's go, we're almost at the cafeteria. Only then can we get some rest." he said and turned to leave.
"Wait!" William turned as he saw a girl approaching, this was the girl Adam saved from the dog. "Let me help him dress his wounds well so they won't get worse" the girl said as she pointed at the unconscious Adam on his back. "Hmmn" William hesitated as he didn't trust anyone here, heck he wouldn't have bothered saving them if it wasn't for Adam in the first place.
"Fine, but I'm watching you." He said as he gently laid Adam on the ground and watch the girl try her best. Immediately after she was done they began moving
The twelve remaining survivors followed him not daring to stay behind. Their eyes filled with fear for the future looked intently in all directions for dread that a strange mutated creature would take away the life they had been protecting for many years.
Twenty minutes later, and after making several detours to the area in order to find the easiest and least difficult path, William was finally only fifty meters away from the cafeteria.
"Why does everything have to be complicated." William frowned as he crouched in a corner and saw the dense group of zombies wandering near the cafeteria. There was over sixty zombies and they were too close together to risk fighting them especially with Adam on his back without risking a scratch.
If it was in a place where he could move, then William was confident that he could take on a few hundred zombies even with Adam on his back given enough time. However, fighting sixty of these creatures in such a constricted space was challenging even for him who had been steadily leveling up.
What stupefied him most was that these zombies didn't seem to have any intentions of leaving.
As William watched the movements of the zombies several meters ahead, he quickly noticed that some of them were banging on the doors in an attempt to break them down. However, these doors were completely metal so it was absolutely impossible for these zombies to breakthrough no matter how hard they tried.
The sounds of bangs from the metal door had attracted other zombies, causing that the group of a few more than sixty soon reached eighty.
"Could it be that there are ppl in there?" Such a thought flashed through William's mind and the more he thought about it the firmer that thought became.
While Adam had been off playing hero, William had not only been swinging his swords back and forth decapitating enemies, he had also been paying attention to the behavior of the creatures as much as possible. Zombies being the largest quantity, they were the type of enemy he knew the most about.
From what he had observed so far of the zombies, these slow but fatal creatures could sense the presence of any life and the smell of blood from about thirty meters or so of distance.
"There are definitely people in there." William finally concluded. If not for that reason, then he could think of anything else why the zombies would be so intent on not moving else where
He looked back and saw the people following him looking at him, which gave him a headache… if it wasn't for this people he would have retreated to find a safe space to place Adam and slowly cleared the zombies. As for leaving Adam with them he didn't trust any of these people enough to place the safety of his only friend in their hands.
"How about I just abandon them, everything would be much easier if I leave this burdens that could stab me in the back at any moment." William thought to him self as he looked at the pale faced Adam lying behind him "you probably would talk my ears off."
Just when William didn't know what to do, the group of more than eighty zombies suddenly became rowdy
Arrows flew in from the distance one by one, accurately striking different zombies head, after six shots two figures shot towards the zombies.
"All of you wait here!" William said with gritted teeth as he created blood ropes to secure Adam on his back as he jumped out his hiding place like a tiger and charged at the zombies.
In the blink of an eye, the distance of about fifty meters had been covered. William slashed with his swords at lightning speed and the heads of three zombies flew in the air
{You've acquired level 5 normal zombie soul essence.}
{You've acquired level 4 normal zombie soul essence.}
{You've acquired ...…}
Within five seconds, eight zombies had been decapitated by William.
The huge axe wielding man, swung it at two zombie completely splitting them in half. However, he soon noticed a young several years younger than him blitzing through zombies lyk flies. "Fuck what's with that insane speed." His eyes widened in shock.
William current agility had already reached 58 points. This meant he was almost six times faster than a normal human being. His movement was clearly fast so when William had killed ten zombies, the axe man had only killed the two close the him.
"This is too slow, should I just use that blood spear shower again, there's enough dead zombies to get blood from." However, just as as his mind began to wander, another change swept the battlefield.
"Ice spikes."
A melodious but cold sounding voice echoed. Immediately after ten tiny spikes of ice floated in the air and shot towards ten different zombies hitting them in the head.
William looked at the woman who had joined the battle and a glint flashed in his eyes. "Strong." While she was as beautiful as an ice fairy, William didn't seem to care about that, only if she was a threat or not. His movement didn't flinch in the slightest as he continued to decapitate zombies.
As if the the arrival of the ice user marked a new beginning, the other figure waved his hands as arrows made of light appeared around him and shot towards zombies as he continued kill with his sword.
While eighty zombies zombies would have posed a problem to any of them alone, together it was like a walk in the park and in mere minutes they had cleared the zombies blocking the entrance.
After slicing off the head of the last zombie, William studied the people around him with a hint of caution. The ice user still kept her cold demeanor but there was a bit of haughtiness and disgust in the look she was giving William and the axe wielding man. The handsome young man with the sword walked over, when he saw the silver haired ice user his eyes lit up in joy. "Elnora, I'm glad you're okay I've been worried sick.
Elnora? William found the name very familiar but he quickly put that at the back of his mind as there was something more important. "Shit they know each other." William raised his guard further.
"I'm glad you're okay too, sam."
Elnora's indifferent gaze didn't change that much when she saw the young man, however, William noticed that look of disdain she had dimmed greatly when she looked at him.
Anyway, since the zombies issue was fixed, William did not stay to listen to this group's conversation and turned around, walking away quietly.
"Little brother, wait a moment." The axe wielding man quickly shouted when he saw him walking away. His words attracted the attention of the others
William stopped and turned around to look at him silently, waiting for his next words.
"Hi, I'm Henry the University head of security." He said with a friendly smile as he stretched out his hand. "How about u stay here with us?. With the strength of the four of us together, we can easily wipe out these fuckers and live a better life."
William had a strange glint in his eyes as he stared the hand. He simply turned around and said casually as he walked away, "I'm going to look for the students and teachers who are with me. I didn't go out of my way to clean up this place to casually."
"Oh." Henry said as he scratched his head in embarrassment.
On the other hand elenora looked at him coldly before turning and walking away with the other young man, Sam in tow as they chatted with each other.
Few minutes later the group of survivors rescued William, Elnora, Henry and Sam, gathered together to form a large group of almost sixty people.
Due to the storm that started raging when the apocalypse started, the blood and it's metallic smell was quickly washed away by the rain. This reduced the likelihood of other creatures coming to this place in search of food
After a lot of back and forth, the people hiding in the cafeteria were forced to open the doors, especially after Henry threatened to cut down the doors with his huge axe and everyone rushed in like that was their last line of salvation.
