"Gato won't let shops sell food to them unless they stop building the bridge and join the gathering site."
"People who refuse get chingu mobs blocking their doors. They can't even go outside."
"Several families have already starved to death."
Naruto's breathing caught.
So this is the real Wave Country.
He asked in a low voice, "Anyone else trying to raid the granary?"
Auntie shook her head. "Just us. The rest are either watched or too weak to walk."
"I see." Naruto nodded. "Can you tell Gato's mercenaries apart from Wave civilians?"
"I've lived here for years," she said quickly. "I can help you identify them."
"Good."
Naruto found grandpa a hiding spot, set a few small traps around him, and handed him the trigger lines.
Naruto wasn't leaving yet.
"Auntie, stick close. You point, I hit. Deal?"

They retraced their steps toward the dorm area.

Cups clinked. The room reeked of cheap pleasure.

The door flew open, blasted by force.
A blond boy with whisker marks stepped in, crimson eyes sweeping the room. The whiskers even twitched, almost lifelike.
"Are these all Gato's people?" he asked the auntie behind him.
"Yes! Everyone in this room!"
"Got it."
The leader jolted upright, Naruto's killing intent making his skin crawl.
"Y-you're that newbie from last night! What are you doing?!"
"Nothing much. You guys were having fun. I'm just gonna… interrupt a little."
Then Naruto jumped into the middle and smashed every knee in the room.
Bone cracked like snapping puppets. Legs folded, useless.

Auntie: "Huh?"
"If you kill every enemy, isn't that perfect stealth?"
He clapped his hands. "Auntie, go help grandpa carry a few bags of food out. I'll handle the rest for now."
After they left, Naruto breathed in and let Kurama's chakra leak out.
Red, translucent chakra spread around him. He focused, shaping it into a giant hand.
He could sense Kurama's chakra growing closer to him, and his own control sharpening—like a progress bar sliding slowly toward 100%.
