Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 — The Summer Camp That Changed Everything

Professor Oak's Summer Camp had always been famous across the Kanto region, but this year something extraordinary happened—because Ayato Kamisato, the youngest Pokémon Professor in history, chose to attend.

Arrival at Oak Laboratory

The moment Ayato stepped into the familiar laboratory, Professor Oak welcomed him with a broad smile.

"Ah, Ayato! It's good to finally meet in person again. Your fairy-type thesis is still causing waves in the research world."

Ayato smiled politely. "Thank you, Professor Oak. I just followed the data."

Oak laughed. "That's what makes a true researcher."

As they walked deeper into the lab, Ayato finally met Gary Oak, Oak's grandson—same age as him, already sharp-tongued and competitive. And beside him stood Daisy Oak, sixteen years old, gentle, kind, and slightly flustered whenever Ayato greeted her.

Gary extended a hand coolly."Grandpa talks about you all the time. Wanna be friends?"

Ayato shook his hand. "Sure."

Daisy bowed slightly, cheeks pink."H-Hello, Professor Ayato…"

Ayato chuckled softly. "Just Ayato is fine."

For some reason, Daisy looked even redder.

The Summer Camp Begins

When the camp officially started, Ayato met Ash Ketchum—energetic, naïve, chasing Butterfrees around—and Serena, a quiet girl from Kalos attending the Kanto camp for the first time.

But one girl particularly caught Ayato's attention.

A small girl in a purple dress, long bangs covering her face, standing alone under a tree. Ayato sensed it immediately—

A Psychic aura. Strong. Uncontrolled. And scared.

He approached gently.

"Hello… I'm Ayato. Are you here for the camp too?"

The girl hesitated before whispering,"Sabrina."

Ayato's eyes widened slightly. The future Saffron City Gym Leader…

But he simply offered his hand."Come play with us. You don't have to be alone."

For a moment Sabrina froze—but then, slowly, she took his hand. Her fingers trembled. Her voice shook. But for the first time that day, she smiled.

Ayato's Effect on the Kids

Ayato played with Sabrina, introduced her to Gary and Serena, and even kept Ash from wandering into trouble (though Ash still tried anyway).

Daisy helped Ayato with the Pokémon care station, watching him treat minor injuries with practiced efficiency.Every time his fingers brushed hers over a bandage roll, she blushed and looked away.

Sabrina warmed up.Serena watched him with admiration.Gary bragged louder to keep up.Ash… ran into a tree twice.

A normal summer camp.

Until that day.

Serena Goes Missing

During one afternoon activity, Ayato noticed Serena was gone.

"Ash, where's Serena?" he asked.

Ash blinked. "Serena? Uh… wasn't she just here?"

Gary was too busy trying to catch a Poliwag.

Ayato sighed internally. So much for the anime rescue scene…

Without wasting time, he activated his aura sense, scanning the forest.A faint signature—weak, trembling—appeared near a clearing.

Ayato ran.

He found her sitting on the ground, wiping tears, her leg bruised from a fall.

Ayato crouched beside her."Serena, are you hurt?"

She sniffed. "I… I slipped while trying to keep up…"

He examined the injury. It wasn't serious, but painful.

"It's alright," he said gently. "I've got you."

Before she could protest, Ayato lifted her into a princess carry.

Serena turned crimson instantly."W-W-W-What are you doing!?"

"Taking you back. Your leg needs treatment."

She hid her face in his chest, shaking.

Ayato smiled a little and carried her to the lab.

Shock at the Lab

Inside, Daisy Oak and Professor Oak were sorting supplies.

Daisy gasped. "Serena! What happened?!"

"Minor injury," Ayato replied calmly. "Professor, first aid kit."

Oak blinked. "Ah—yes, of course!"

Ayato knelt, disinfected the bruise, applied medication, and finished with a neat bandage.

His movements were precise. Professional.

Daisy, Serena, Sabrina, Gary, and even Professor Oak stared at him like he'd grown a second head.

"Ayato," Oak said slowly, "how does a nine-year-old know medical treatment this well?"

Ayato shrugged lightly. "I know a thing or two."

Gary's jaw dropped.Daisy looked at him like he was glowing.Sabrina watched him with quiet admiration.Serena couldn't stop peeking at him from behind her bangs.

And Professor Oak wondered if Shiro Kamisato was secretly raising a legendary Pokémon instead of a child.

A Turning Point

From that day onward—

Serena followed him more.Sabrina opened up faster.Daisy kept finding excuses to help him with Pokémon care.Gary dragged him into competitions.Ash… still ran into trees, but now Ayato was there to pull him out.

Ayato didn't know it yet, but Professor Oak's Summer Camp was the beginning of yet another chapter in his already extraordinary life.
