Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Because the Killer was none other than the one for whom he could destroy the world, she was his life, she was his own sister...Hazel.

◃───────────▹

Tracking the GPS of Zane's car or it could be called a police car, Elvis was driving his car at full speed to reach Zane's location.

He was feeling very disappointed because of the negligence of the police and their security that they didn't think of tracking the GPS installed in Zane's car before chasing his car. And this was the reason that when Zane dodged the police and disappeared from their sight, the police couldn't reach his exact location. And when on the way, they realised that they could reach Zane's exact location by tracking the GPS of his car, by then they all had reached somewhere else.

The police informed Elvis that an unknown black car was also chasing Zane's car desperately and when Zane's car disappeared from their sight, that black car also disappeared, which clearly meant that either the black car would have reached Zane or it would still be chasing Zane. And just after getting this information from the police, Elvis immediately guessed that there was no one in the black car but the Killer himself.

Since some time, the location of Zane's car has been shown on a bridge above the deep river. At the moment, Elvis could only guess that either Zane must have abandoned his car and ran away, or he must have finally met the Killer.

Apart from this, Elvis felt a strange feeling of uneasiness thinking about the Killer. His expectations had always turned out to be correct but at that moment, Elvis didn't want it to turn out to be correct this time. He wanted the meeting between him and the Killer to be on the lines of a Detective and an offender. But his expectations were telling him something else which he didn't want to listen to.

For 3 months, he had always ignored his biggest suspect as the Killer. But today when he was sure that today he was definitely going to meet the Killer face to face, he was feeling uneasy from within. Yeah, along with Zane, he wanted to catch the Killer too but he himself didn't know why he didn't want the Killer to turn out to be his biggest suspect.

Besides, he was in mild anger thinking how Zane dared to escape while sabotaging his plan.

Elvis's car was running at lightning speed to reach its destination as soon as quickly.

◃───────────▹

Zane hadn't even come out from the shock that the Killer who was desperately searching for him to kill was none other than his own sister when suddenly, Soyi kicked him right on his head with such force that the upper part of his body directly fell on the bonnet of the black car in front of him. At that moment, his ears stopped hearing other sounds except tinnitus.

He hadn't even handled his senses when without waiting for any second, she grabbed his hair tightly and pulled him out of between those two cars in a very aggressive manner. He blinked his eyes several times and shaked his head to handle his senses completely before looking at her.

It was hurting him to see that the one who in his childhood looked at him only with love and care, was now looking at him with blind anger, hatred and disgust.

"Why do you want to kill me??" The man who was silent for so long now opened his mouth just to ask a question to his sister.

"Because you tried to kill Alice." She replied with the sound of gritted teeth before tightening her grip on his hair and punching right on his face harshly, making him let out a groan.

"Because, because of you she was so scared that she unknowingly tried to kill me," Saying this she again punched him hard on the face.

"Because, just because of you I killed her, even though I didn't want to, to save my life,"

Another punch,

"Because after that my life got ruined just because of you,"

She gave him the last punch.

"The first reason my life went upside down was you, you turned me into a Killer." After releasing his hair, she shouted while kicking him hard on his stomach, making him stumble backward.

Blood had come out of his nose and had spread around his mouth due to the punches, and he was also able to taste his own blood inside of his mouth.

She really punched him very hard.

"And that is why I want to kill you."

She kicked him again but at this time directly on his neck, making him almost fall on the ground and let out a painful loud writh. He immediately held his neck, massaging it to reduce the pain.

He couldn't understand how his sister's life was ruined because of him. And who is Alice?

Oh that Witch?

He had always regretted that he hadn't killed that witch before, if he had done this earlier, then that b!tch would have never got the chance to try to kill his sister. But how was Hazel's life ruined and what happened that made her feel that her life was ruined because of him? Was she feeling regret and guilty after killing that witch? No, she shouldn't feel like this.

Soyi again moved forward to throw the punch on him but he immediately dodged her punch with his hand while his other hand was still busy massaging his neck.

"Are you feeling guilty after killing that woman??...Listen! You did the right thing, if you hadn't done that, that b!tch would have definitely killed you." He uttered, dodging her continuous punches this time while moving backward.

However, it was difficult for him to speak due to the pain but he still spoke. He himself knew very well what he wanted to make her understand but he didn't know that his words would have no effect on her and no relation with her ruined life.

"You don't have the right to tell me what I did right and what wrong because you can't delete the fact that you are the root of all the troubles." Her voice was carrying only hatred and disgust for him.

How would a brother feel after hearing all these words from his sister?

Of Course incredibly bad!

That was what he was feeling at the moment. And the next moment his whole body was totally on the watery ground when first she kicked him on his back side of the knee, making him fall on his knees before kicking him on his chest, making him completely fall on the ground on his back.

There was she who was continuously attacking him, and there was he who hadn't even once raised a hand on her nor even deliberately tried much to protect himself from her attacks.

Without waiting for any second and without giving him a little time to get back up from the ground, she jumped on him, making him cough. And as soon as she did this, she quickly took out a sharp knife from her gambler's dagger which was attached to her frye black boots before in a blink of an eye directly stabbing him deeply on his chest several times where his heart was beating. Painful loud groan escaped from his mouth due to the unbearable pain right above his heart. He was feeling difficulty breathing because as he was trying to breathe in, he was experiencing unbearable pain on his chest.

Although it was difficult for him to believe that his sister had really stabbed him directly in his heart, at last he accepted his defeat and believed it.

While a victorious smirk placed on her face, looking at his stabbed chest.

"I always wanted to kill you and watch you in agony like this." Satisfaction was lingering in her voice as she spoke.

Suddenly making her mild perplexed and alert, he touched her cheek with his weak hand and with weak movements. He didn't even have enough strength left to lift his hand, but still he did it with his remaining strength only to touch his sister.

"And you did," He completed her sentence with his words in a very low and weak voice but enough for her to hear.

Caressing her cheek with his one hand, he was feeling bliss because he was finally touching her with care and love after more than decades. She couldn't help but feel sudden warmth in his touch but her hatred and anger were pushing that feeling behind. In fact she couldn't understand why even she was letting him touch her.

"I have a message for you from your elder brother," The pain was lingering in his cracky and weak voice. While she frowned in bewilderment.

She was wondering what he was talking about, what he meant by what he said.

"Your brother feels very lucky to have you as his sister, he loves you a lot....Hazel."

The line he said while smiling bitterly, the moment he was in, the sight he was watching in front of him, he knew, it was his last. He wanted this moment to be very long because his Hazel was in front of him.

But how unlucky he was.

When he was seeing his sister so closely after so many years, it was his last moment.

He didn't know that his sister would become his death, but he was happy that only his sister was given the right to kill him.

He never wanted to die because he knew that dying is not something to be desired, that dying does not end all the pain but in reality it begins for a sinner.

And he considered himself as a sinner.

Even at that moment, he didn't want to die, but he was dying. If it had been someone else who tried to kill him, then perhaps he wouldn't have been dying here like this but it was his own sister who killed him.

The desire to die is worse than the desire to live, in his last moments he could see that for sinners like us, life is better than the afterlife.

Besides, the world took away everything from him, even his character, but he was proud of the fact that no one, means literally no one could take away his role of being a great brother.

His hand fell on the ground, eyes closed, his body loosened, the raindrops were falling on his face. His soul had eventually left his body, he was finally dead.

Strangely everything became silent except the raining noise.

She was blankly staring at his dead face. His last line, which he said to her, was echoing in her mind.

Whose brother?

Who was Hazel?

Why did she feel as if she had heard this name somewhere before?

She should've felt happy because of his death but why was she feeling something strange?

A strange and irritating sound started ringing in her head. Don't know why she felt like her brain was going to explode.

She didn't even realise that she had tears in her eyes, she was unknowingly crying.

But why? And for whom? For her own ruined life or for something else?

She was feeling overwhelmed as if she lost something, something very important for her life.

◃───────────▹

Reaching to his destination, Elvis halted his car with a quick brake exactly on the bridge where the location of Zane's car was being shown. He could see Zane's car there with that black car. But those two cars were not standing the way they should have.

Besides, he was able to see Zane's lying figure on the rainy ground without any movements and a woman near him while holding a knife on his chest.

Elvis immediately understood that she killed him.

He already expected Killer to be a female. And exactly as his expectations, there was a female clearly visible to him.

Without wasting any time, he immediately got out of the car with his gun, getting wet in the rain before quickly pointing the gun towards her direction.

His heart was beating rapidly, staring at her hair, her figure. Even though her face wasn't visible to him only her back was facing him but he recognised who she was. And at that moment, he wanted what he was seeing to be a hallucination of his eyes.

Relinquishing her grip on the knife, placing her feet properly on the ground, she stood up straight slowly before turning around.

Their eyes met, giving each other a sudden current.

His hands automatically went down along with the gun. He could clearly see his biggest suspect really turning into the Killer.

The Killer was none other than his own wife.

He always suspected her, because from the beginning every clue was pointing towards her, but he always ignored her. But now his suspicions have actually come true, which he didn't want.

He didn't know what to do at that moment, at that moment, he was just praying that it would turn out to be his hallucination.

He was also a little astounded to see the scene where a sister murdered her brother.

Yeah, he already knew that Zane was her brother, he knew about Zane and Soyi's past from the beginning, he knew everything from the beginning. But he never told Soyi even a glimpse of her terrifying past. He never introduced her to his brother. If he had wanted, he could've made her aware of her past, but he himself didn't want her to remember her terrifying past. This was the reason why despite knowing everything till date, he never told her anything.

He was feeling a little bad, seeing Zane's dead face and knowing that his own sister killed him. It was really a painful death for a brother. He couldn't deny the fact that Zane's life wasn't easy.

Apart from this, Soyi was slowly stepping towards him, making his heart beating wildly, while he was standing there stunned, staring at her without blinking. Reaching so close to him, she stared into his eyes for a while. While he wasn't doing anything nor saying or moving except just looking at her as if there was no tomorrow.

"You know what Elvis?" She spoke, even though her lips weren't visible because of the mask but he could sense it moving.

"We humans don't know when, where and what would be our last." Her voice was low, more like a whisper, her words were carrying deepness, darkness and pain.

He was feeling apprehensive and uneasy listening to her words. He was staring at her with his hopeless eyes as if she would disappear anytime soon.

Suddenly, she started taking her steps backward, but her eyes weren't leaving him. As soon as she did that, his hands immediately and unknowingly pointed the gun at her again. He didn't know why he did that, he didn't want to do that, why he was doing it?

His throat was aching, eyes were getting heavier looking at her. He was feeling something very painful, something very different which he wasn't able to understand.

Taking her steps backward, she reached the railing attached to the bridge. And unexpectedly, she climbed on the top of that slippery railing. For a second, her legs wobbled, making his heart clenched and breath stopped but she quickly handled herself, facing him.

Why was she doing that? Was she going to jump? No, she couldn't do that, she wasn't stupid to do such a thing. Seeing her doing such a dangerous thing, his heart skipped.

And at that very moment, so many police vehicles came immediately surrounding the area. And seeing Elvis pointing his gun at Soyi, they all also pointed their guns at her in a blink of an eye.

Roaming her eyes on all of them, Soyi laughed bitterly before turning her eyes on Elvis again, while in an uneasy alert, he slowly took his two steps forward towards her.

"What exactly are you trying to do? Get down immediately or you will fall off the bridge." He said in a commanding tone, looking at her with his aghast eyes but he couldn't hide his care for her in his voice. While she didn't obey him, she was just looking at him.

"Whatever I did, did not start with wrong but ended up being wrong. I aspired to be a moon in your life but accidentally became a stain…... .If I survive, I wish that you love me unconditionally like I do, but if I die, I wish that your wish remains that I am born again just to get your love… . I have only one aspiration always, that you love me and this aspiration will remain till my last breath."

She uttered smiling bitterly while taking a break for a second, making him completely stiffened. Unbearable pain and heaviness was lingering in her words.

Understanding the unknown warning in her words, he dropped his gun on the ground and without wasting any second, immediately moved towards her to bring her down from the railing. But before he could grab her completely, she jumped off the bridge, making his eyes widened in horror. And suddenly at that very moment, a gunshot sound could be heard echoing in the whole area. One of the policemen shot her on the shoulder in the beginning of her jump, making her injured.

Elvis was only able to catch hold of her fingers but that too slipped from his hands and their wedding ring worn on her ring finger slipped out of her finger due to his grip and transfer to his grip. And a loud wave noise could be heard when she completely fell into the deep river, mixing her blood with the water.

Looking at the ring on his grip of fingers in aghast, his mind went totally blank.

What just happened?

Frantically, somehow, he managed to put that ring on his little finger, and without thinking anything, he immediately jumped off the bridge for his wife, making everyone shocked there after taking off his coat.

Swimming inside the river, he roamed his eyes wildly here and there to find her, but his heart ached when he couldn't see her anywhere.

He realised, he finally realised, he loved her.

It was his hate that was forcing him to ignore her tears but it was his love that forced him to ignore the suspicion of him being her the Killer.

He went deeper into the water but there was no sign of her anywhere. It was ripping him apart when he wasn't able to even see a glimpse of her.

Where had she gone? Why couldn't he find her?

He went deeper and deeper into the water.

This was that wild love, wasn't it? Where a lover without caring for himself, jumped into the river to save his lover's life.

Where was she now? Why was she no longer visible who yearned for his love? Where had she disappeared to now? She should see the scene of how her lover was frantically searching for her. Where did she become invisible in a blink of an eye? Why wasn't she coming in front of his eyes to see that he finally fell in love with her, her aspiration had finally come true.

Yeah, he accepted it, it took a lot of time for him to realise that he loved her. But now he had realised it, hadn't he? So now she should appear in front of his eyes. After all, why wasn't she listening to his calls for love? Why wasn't she coming in front of his sight?

There was chaos of tinnitus and calling voices for her in his mind.

A different situation where he had to catch the Killer, a different atmosphere where he was stuck between two big emotions, hate and love, a different mindset where he had to stay in his profession. But when he felt that he was losing her, suddenly while tearing apart all these things and from nowhere, his love for her came alive. This was the moment when he jumped off the bridge.

While searching for her, he reached that depth of water where nothing was visible except darkness. And he had understood that her absence in his life was darkness.

He was now having trouble breathing due to holding his breath for a long time. His heart was crying for not getting her. He was sinking into the darkness of that water. His body was automatically slowly becoming loose and sinking deeper into the water.

Even though his senses were going blank, there was a non-stop chaos going on in his head. He could feel the darkness eating away at him. There was no sound around him except the slow sound of water. But he was still hearing the noise in his head, carrying the thought of finding his wife, his eyes were slowly closing and eventually everything went black for him.

┈━ ◇ ━┈

Five years later.

The private jet landed in New Zealand and after some minutes of landing, its door opened, exposing the staring case for an important person.

And that important person was none other than the one and only Jeon Elvis.

Standing at the door, he glanced at the sky surrounded by dark clouds from where a natural shower was falling.

The sound of rain, this smell of rain, this rainy season only reminded him of the one whom he considered the light of his dark world, his wife, Jeon So-yi.

Only his wife was the owner of the memorial words written on each drop of this rain. This rain only gave him the vibe of his wife.

Opening the umbrella, he placed it over his head before stepping on the stairs. While setting foot on the land of New Zealand for the first time due to business purposes, he felt a different scent in the air and it felt like his own. He made his way to a black car near which, a man in a black suit with an umbrella over his head was standing, smiling at Elvis.

"Good evening sir!" Bowing at Elvis, the man said in a soft tone while having a small smile on his face.

Elvis nodded without any expression but a softness in his eyes was clearly visible.

Elvis quickly took the backseat before closing the door as the man opened the car door for him. While the man took the driver seat and immediately started driving, taking him to his destination.

Elvis had to return to South Korea immediately after completing his business work here. But there was something in the air here which was provoking him to merge in the air here.

It's been 5 years since Soyi disappeared. Everyone tried hard to find her body in the depths of that river but she was nowhere to be found. It was like she had disappeared as if she never existed. Nobody came to know that the Killer was his wife, but everyone was aware that the Killer was a woman.

In those 5 years, a lot of riots broke out, some people were with the Killer and some were against, some said that what Killer was doing was doing right and some said that she was breaking the law.

They saved Elvis from drowning to death in that deep river, but no one understood that he was already dead inside the moment he lost his wife. No one was ever able to find out whether the Killer was dead or had fled somewhere. Everyone tried their best to find her but it was as if she merged in the air that no one could see her. For everyone trying to find her was like dying and coming back alive.

It became even more impossible for everyone to find the Killer because Elvis left this case on the same day the Killer disappeared for everyone. And 4 years later, this case was closed because, firstly, there were no more criminal murders, secondly, people were not feeling any danger of the Killer dying or escaping because the Killer always killed heinous people and not any innocent, thirdly, everyone was repeatedly failing to find the Killer. And with this, the Killer's secret and her chapter ended in the minds of people but left the era of herself. Apart from this, no one had even raised the question as to why Elvis had suddenly left this case.

Everyone returned to their normal lives except Elvis. His life had become dark without his wife. He always regretted the fact that he had realised his love for his wife only after the moment she disappeared. He wandered around like a madman to find his wife, but he couldn't see her anywhere.

It seemed ridiculous to him that people call him a genius. What was the use of him being such a genius if he couldn't find his wife? The person who could beat his high level of IQ was his own wife, she had disappeared in such a way that even a person of 170 IQ couldn't find her.

That detective by profession was repeatedly failing to detect his love, his wife.

From those 5 years till now, every part of his body had cried for his wife except his eyes.

They say that feelings weaken with time, but his feelings for his wife only grew stronger. Not a single day or night passed when he didn't try to find his wife. He had become so engrossed in his wife's love that the man for whom doubting someone was a common thing had now become a calculated thing. Looking at him no one could tell how much he was suffering every moment from those 5 years till now.

His heart was invisible somewhere far away from his body, could a person survive without a heart?

He was like a living corpse, he was exhausted. While the whole world was proving that his wife aka Killer was dead or absconded, there he was bent upon plundering his entire world to find his wife. Even if he had to die to find his wife, he was willing to accept it. He was in a lot of pain because such an emotion was dominating him which was suppressing his other emotions,...Guilt. He was guilty, he was regretting what he had done to his own wife. He knew that he couldn't change his past, but he could change his present by finding his wife and loving her deeply and spending his whole life with her.

Now, he also felt disbelief looking at himself that how could anyone love someone this much? He now understood that love was not just a small word but it encompasses the entire universe, a feeling that is beyond the reach of a novice with a lower level of handling ability.

It had become his daily routine to read many of the lyrics written by his wife, which she had written in a book just for him, which she had named 'Inclination'. Every word of that book which was meant for him were like the countless stars in the night sky, whose writer was the moon. That book always made him feel that his wife was in front of his eyes.

In those 5 years, everything that belonged to his wife, he was living in her memories along with them. But he didn't just want to live with her memories, he wanted her with him.

He never considered his wife dead, because he knew that she was alive, she was just taking his test. But did he not pass his test? If he was passed then why was she not back? Why was she far away, so far? He was in extreme pain, was she not realising it? He was accepting his defeat for everything, she had won his love by her love, now come back.

Time doesn't stop for anyone, but for him, time had stopped, and his time stopped at a time where he was not feeling anything other than pain.

"You probably don't speak much, don't you?" Snapping Elvis out of his thoughts, that man spoke to him, breaking the long silence while looking at him through the front mirror of the car with a friendly smile on his face.

Elvis jolted his eyes at him. He had heard this line somewhere before. Elvis got a flashback of the beginning days of his and Soyi's meeting when Soyi also asked this question to him out of curiosity.

'You probably don't speak much, don't you?'

And he didn't reply to her.

Looking at his left hand's little finger where he wore the ring of his wife, Elvis smiled bitterly, remembering Soyi before opening his mouth to reply to the man.

"Yes."

The man's eyes widened in amusement and a big smile came to his face, hearing his reply.

"Aah finally after half an hour since you sat in this car, I got this golden opportunity to hear your voice," He said cheerfully.

While Elvis looked at him and unknowingly a mere smile placed on his face thinking if he had replied to Soyi too, would she have been equally happy like this man? His eyes fell again on Soyi's ring on his finger which he never took out of his finger. However, the size of the ring was a little too tight even for his little finger due to which, the muscle of his finger had suppressed a little, but still he didn't take out the ring.

He always kept that ring close to his wedding ring which he wore on his ring finger, the finger that connected to his heart. He always kept that ring safely with him so that he could put the ring back on his wife's finger.

The man stopped the car, following the rules of traffic light and started to wait for the green light, while Elvis looked out of the window for a while. And after some time, he saw something outside which made him restless from within and raised his hope to the peak.

He saw a glimpse of Soyi in the crowd on the street.

Frantically he opened the car door before immediately stepping out of the car and holding the umbrella over his head. His eyes were not leaving the direction where he saw a glimpse of Soyi.

"Sir, where are you going??" The man asked, peeking out of the window but got no reply.

Elvis started taking long steps more like running. His breath was getting heavier. He was looking like a madman while looking for her. After reaching some distance, he finally recognised the woman by the clothes in which he had seen a glimpse of Soyi.

But within a second, it broke his heart into pieces. His steps halted at its place when he saw that the woman wasn't Soyi.

Standing there for some time in hopelessness, he gulped the lump of his throat. And as he turned to the side in displeasure, his heart skipped for a moment, his lips parted in extreme delightedness, but his face was having an astound expression.

There she was standing far away from him, holding the umbrella over her head in the middle of the crowd.

She looked like a ray of sunshine to him in this rainy weather.

Her eyes were already on him, her face was showing a look of shockness while seeing him.

She was alive.

Soyi was alive.

She was here? In New Zealand?

His eyes became teary in extreme delightedness. He knew he wasn't hallucinating. That moment was true. He felt alive again. Tears were coming out of his eyes.

He was crying, he was finally crying.

But he quickly wiped his tears from the sleeve of his coat to see her clearly. He didn't want to blink his eyes even for a second lest she disappear before his eyes.

She was standing too far from him, he wanted to go close to her.

She smiled bitterly, looking at him, but suddenly making his face turn into unhappiness, she turned and started walking away from him through the crowd to the opposite direction.

His heart clenched with the fear of losing her again. Seeing her going away from him again, restlessness was running through all the veins of his body. And he quickly made his way towards her. He couldn't lose her again, he wasn't looking for her so she could go away from him again.

Leaving the past behind, the XO, the Killer, everything, he believes that he'll make her back as his.

Because now,

It had become his aspiration to love her unconditionally, to spend his whole life with his one and only wife, Jeon So-yi.
