Cloud marvel at the city not because it's big or impressive.
For him, this city look rather small.
He has seen many impressive architecture and massive city in his previous world.
The city in front of him is not comparable at all.
But he marveled at it for an entirely different reason.
It is the first walled city that he saw with his own eyes.
Such a city, especially one that are still active are rare or even impossible to find in his previous world.
So seeing it with his own eyes moved him.
Currently, Cloud is lining up outside the city gate.
It seems, there are some procedure to enter the city.
While waiting, he look at the city's details.
The city has four meter high wall with a battlement on top.
The gate is also quite large. About four meter wide and three meter high.
Above the gate there is a black wooden plaque with a blood red character that said River City.
It is called River City because it's built around the river. The river pass through the middle of the city.
Cloud didn't wait for very long. The line wasn't that long.
When he arrive, there are only a few people before him.
When it was his turn, the guard asked him a few questions for formality because he seems unfamiliar to the guard.
It was just simple questions like, are you new here? Where did you come from? And the like.
But they didn't give him any trouble at all.
It's because all they care is the entry fee. As long as he pay, he can come in.
Cloud saw that the people before him also pay when they entered so he already understand.
He even saw how much money is needed for entry so he didn't even need to ask.
When it was his turn he even gave a few extra to the guard so they happily let him enter.
After entering the city he look around the inside.
As he expected it's nothing special.
The city look smaller from the inside.
You can see the only other gate at the other side of the city when you pass the gate.
There are many buildings packed together all around.
The population of the city is only about a few thousands, so you can imagine how small the city is.
After entering and thinking for a moment Cloud decide to walk around the city first.
There is not that much space in the city. So Cloud finish looking around the major areas in about an hour.
He also found a pretty decent inn and he booked a room there.
At the room he change to his only other clothes.
He was too eye catching before. People keep staring at him.
It's because of his clothes that's torn in many places and filled with blood.
Usually, such a thing is not an issue because there are many people who hunt for a living and it's also common to meet bandits when traveling.
So torn clothes and blood stains are common. It's just that Cloud's clothing was too exaggerated.
His clothes is filled with blood stains that its color practically turned pale red. Also, there are too many holes on it that the clothes can't be fixed anymore.
Cloud didn't change before, not because he wants to show off. He thought of changing first, but then his other clothes would probably end up the same. So he save the other clothes instead.
After changing, he came down to the inn's first floor where people can eat. He ate a few dishes then go back to his room.
The food was okay. It isn't comparable to the food from his previous world but it is better than what he ate in the past two weeks.
Cloud wants to go explore the city and buy a few things he needs but he is way too tired to do that today so he stay in his room to rest.
The journey to the city was physically and mentally exhausting.
The next day Cloud wake up early and he explore the city as planned.
Although the city is small, there are still a lot of places and things that doesn't exist in Hope village.
Cloud look around curiously to see what's new. He also ate outside this time.
He found a few stalls selling different kinds of food, so he buy some there. He also found a clothing store and buy a few sets, since his other clothes is beyond repair.
