Chapter 13 - The Age Before Names

Long before Aether Haven existed, before clans carved borders and gods faded into myth, the world was a single continent swallowed in twilight—Aurelon. Scholars later called it a realm "closer to the gods than to men," because the air itself shimmered with raw Aether. Back then, to breathe was to absorb power; to speak was to command the wind and flame.

The gods still walked the earth then.

Not as benevolent figures painted on temple walls, but as forces—storms with faces, mountains with voices, oceans with memories older than the sun. They shaped clans the way the sea shapes a shore: violently, slowly, and with purpose.

No one agreed on how long that age lasted. Some claimed a thousand years; others said ten thousand. But all stories agreed on one thing:

When the gods left, they left behind their blood.

And from that divine residue rose the Clans of Aurelon.

THE FIRST CLAN: ASTRALIS

The Clan of Stars and Fate

The oldest clan. Their ancestors were touched by Nyx, the night goddess of forgotten paths, and Aetherion, the first god of cosmic breath. Astralis members were born with silver-veined eyes that shimmered under moonlight. Their power was not physical at first—it was perception.

They could read the "threads" of Aether, predict storms, sense danger, feel changes in the world before they happened. Legend says the first Astralis elder foresaw the day the gods would vanish.

But Astralis had a curse:

The more they saw, the faster they died.

Their greatest Seers rarely lived past thirty.

Astralis' last heir vanished centuries ago…

Or so the world believed.

THE SECOND CLAN: SIRENUS

The Children of Oceans and Storms

Born from Poseidon and Amphitrite, they wielded water as if it were bone and sinew. Not everyone awakened, but those who did became avatars of the sea—torrents shaped by emotion.

The Sirenus clan split into different houses:

Hydrarion — deep-water manipulators capable of summoning sea beasts.

Mistralyn — stormcallers who could stir lightning by singing.

Tethrite — those with healing waters said to reverse aging.

Sena's lineage belongs somewhere in here, though she doesn't know which house.

Not yet.

THE THIRD CLAN: IGNIVUS

The Flameborn

Descendants of Hephaestus and Hestia, this clan held the rarest awakening rate—less than 1 in 300 children. But those who awakened commanded fire not as destruction, but as creation.

Their flames could forge weapons from pure Aether, heal wounds, even bind souls.

Some stories claimed they once made a weapon capable of killing a god.

The clan denies it.

THE FOURTH CLAN: TERRA'KIN

Those Who Walk With Stone

Children of Gaia and Khthon, they were said to be born holding fragments of the earth in their palms. Terra'Kin awakened late—sometimes as late as adulthood. Their abilities manifested in endurance, body strength, and the manipulation of minerals and metals.

Sensi's rumored teacher belonged to this clan.

But Sensi himself… did not.

Not originally.

THE FIFTH CLAN: NOCTERIS

The Shadowed Children of the Underworld

Descendants of Hades, this clan was nearly wiped out during the First Abyssal War. Their power was feared not because of destruction, but because of its subtlety—shadow walking, soul-sensing, dream manipulation.

They were the spies of the ancient world.

They were also the first clan to learn something terrifying:

Aether has a darker twin—Umbral Essence.

And only Nocteris could sense it.

Whispers say their last surviving heir still lives…

And walks in the light beside Sensi.

THE SIXTH CLAN: ZE'ARIAN

The Clan of Air and Sky

Born from Zeus and Nike, this clan dominated the skies. Their bodies were light, fast, and sharp as wind. They were commanders, strategists, leaders in every war.

But pride destroyed them.

A civil war known as "The Skyfall" tore them apart. Only a few bloodlines remain scattered around the world.

Some say Kairos' father once fought alongside a Ze'Arian general.

THE OUTCAST CLAN: AURICUS

The Forbidden Clan

No myth mentions them at first.

No temple records them.

But deep in the ruins of the first age, on walls written in the language of gods, scholars found a single line:

"When the gods leave their thrones, one child will steal their crown."

Auricus was a clan born with dual awakenings—the power of two gods in one bloodline. Too rare, too dangerous, too unnatural. The gods themselves feared them.

So they erased them.

Burned their children.

Destroyed their monuments.

But the Auricus bloodline survived through a single family—

A family Kairo once belonged to.

A family destroyed in one night.

A night Kairo can't remember.

THE SECRET OF SENSI

During the Great Vanishing—when the gods abandoned Aurelon—something else slipped into the world. Something ancient. Something hungry.

The records call it "The Silence."

A force that consumed divine energy, leaving hollows where gods once stood.

The clans panicked. They turned on each other. The world burned.

Then… a man appeared.

Not born of any clan.

Not recorded in any scroll.

Carrying power no human should possess.

He arrived with an impossible ability:

He could harvest the last remains of godly power… and implant it into human bodies.

The clans called him The Harvester.

The world today knows him as…

Sensi.

But the truth was buried, erased, paid for in blood.

And the worst part?

He didn't just harvest god-power from the dying world.

He harvested it from bloodlines too.

Even from the Auricus family.

Even from Kairo's father.
