Lonan looked up at the night sky, he was considering entering the forest was not his smartest idea. He thought for a second, how could this be a bad idea, after all, he's the one who decided to enter this new environment to escape. Breathing fresh air once in a while wasn't a bad idea, until you're in danger, that is.
Just as he thought that he would get out of the woods safely, just like a cliché, he heard rustling in the trees. Not the bushes, the trees. He looked up to see a pelican staring down at him menacingly, before swooping down. As it opened its mouth he noticed it had shark teeth all along the inside of its beak. He thought he must have gotten into something to make him hallucinate such things. Maybe the pelican was angry that he had eaten shark earlier that day. He felt as if he was going to have a cardiac arrest. Alas, he could not, after all, we can't have him dying so early into the story.
As Loan's eyes met the shark pelican's he thought to himself, "I guess this is how I die, it's been a nice run." As he thought that the shark pelican suddenly stopped in motion, as if it had been stopped by something unnatural. Lonan shuddered as he thought could stop this odd looking pelican. As he finished his thoughts he began to notice blood was dripping down his face, as he looked up he saw the pelican folded over, large wounds open and gushing out large amounts of blood.
As he looked up after wiping the blood away from his eyes he noticed a shadow from the trees. The shadow had its two ears pulled back, quills as thin as a feather covering its body. Its head resembled that of a horned owl, as the shadow slowly turned its head, Lonan noticed beady white eyes, as he slowly looked up, it was too late
